  • Patent number: 10616600
Abstract: Several methods and systems for encoding pictures are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method comprises dividing an LCU of a picture into a plurality of MERs having size equal to or less than a predetermined size. For one or more MERs of the plurality of MERs, a number of first motion searches are performed for determining a first quad-tree based on a cost function associated with a first plurality of PUs of the one or more MERs. A number of second motion searches are performed for the LCU, for determining a second quad-tree, based on the cost function associated with a second plurality of PUs of the LCU. The first quad-tree or the second quad-tree is selected for performing encoding of the picture based on a comparison of a first cost of the first quad-tree with a second cost of the second quad-tree.

  • Patent number: 10474906
Abstract: Fast moving objects may be monitored by a video unit under a variety of lighting conditions. In a bootstrap phase, a model database is established for each of a plurality of sampling points, each model being a combination of color of the video image, respective optimum exposure, and respective lighting condition. Then in an image capture phase the video unit compares captured color and optimum exposure of the sampling point, with the models of color and respective optimum exposure in the model database, to find a best match lighting condition model in the model database. The video unit then adjusts an exposure setting to the most frequently occurring value for exposure among the other sampling points, if lighting conditions for the other sampling points are within a threshold range of the lighting condition of the best match model in the model database.

  • Patent number: 10452901
Abstract: An image processing device combines an image of a medium exposed to visible light and an image of the medium exposed to ultraviolet light so that parts printed with UV ink can be easily identified. A control device (image processing device) has an image acquisition unit that drives an image sensor and acquires a first image by imaging the face of a check when exposed to a visible first light, and acquires a second image by imaging the face of the check when exposed to an ultraviolet second light; a reverse image generating unit that generates a reversed second image by reversing light and dark in the second image; and a second synthesizing unit that generates a second synthesized image by combining the first image and the reversed second image. Because the reversed second image that is the reverse of the second image becomes an image that is light overall, a drop in the luminance and a drop in the contrast of the first synthesized image can be suppressed, and parts printed with UV ink are easily discerned.
