  • Patent number: 9065545
Abstract: Systems and methods for handling of scheduling request collisions with an ACK/NACK repetition signal are provided. In some aspects, a scheduling request (SR) is triggered. The triggering results in a pending SR transmission. The UE determines that the pending scheduling request (SR) transmission would collide with a transmission of a repeated acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) signal. The repeated ACK/NACK signal is part of an ACK/NACK repetition sequence. The ACK/NACK repetition sequence includes an ACK/NACK signal and at least one repeated ACK/NACKm signal. Responsive to the determining, the UE refrains from transmitting the SR and incrementing an SR counter.

  • Patent number: 9042285
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may save power by reducing certain battery draining activities when a user is not close to or not using the UE. The UE may skip inter-radio access technology measurements to conserve battery life. The UE may also extend a paging periodicity when the battery power is low and/or when a sensor detects UE inactivity or a distant user.

  • Patent number: 9036650
Abstract: Automatic low noise frequency selection for a touch sensitive device is disclosed. A low noise stimulation frequency can be automatically selected by device logic without intervention of the device processor to stimulate the device to sense a touch event at the device. The device logic can automatically select a set of low noise frequencies from among various frequencies based on the amount of noise introduced by the device at the various frequencies, where the frequencies with the lower noise amounts can be selected. The device logic can also automatically select a low noise frequency from among the selected set as the low noise stimulation frequency. The device logic can be implemented partially or entirely in hardware.

  • Patent number: 9008090
Abstract: A communication apparatus which, in an ad-hoc network, when receiving control packets from a plurality of terminals, can determine whether or not there is a collision among the control packets, and, based on the determination, can be prevented from continuing to be out of the network due to a collision among the control packets transmitted from the plurality of terminals. In the communication terminal, a communication section receives a control packet which periodically comes up on a communication path.

  • Patent number: 9008093
Abstract: Some aspects of the methods and systems presented relate to performing stateless address translation between IPv4 capable devices to IPv6 capable networks and devices. Stateless address translation may form a new IPv6 addresses by combining the IPv4 address of a device with an IPv6 prefix address assigned to the translator. The translation may also combine the IPv4 destination address and UDP port information with the new IPv6 address. Existing Domain Name Systems (DNSs) may be leveraged for resolving the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses across different networks.

  • Patent number: 9001822
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for utilizing a 10/100/1G/10GBase-T PHY device for single channel and shared channel networks are provided. In this regard, at least one switching element may be utilized to configure an Ethernet over twisted pair PHY device for communication over a single and/or shared channel. The switching element may enable switching between a transmitter being coupled to a shared channel and a receiver being coupled to a shared channel. Additionally, the switching elements may be based on whether the transmitter is connected to a standard 10/100/1G/10GBase-T network, or to a single and/or shared channel network, for example. In this manner, the configured PHY device may remain compatible with existing Ethernet networks. The PHY device may be configured externally and/or internally. The polarity of transmitted and/or received data may be configured based on a polarity of data received from a shared channel.

  • Patent number: 8995266
Abstract: A method is disclosed for transmitting system management requests to computer systems along a network path using a network control protocol, such as RSVP. For example, an originating node may send a single system management request along a path to a destination node using a network control protocol. Each computer system along the network path may analyze the network control protocol message to determine whether the message contains a system management request. If a system management request is found in the message, the computer system may perform the system management function identified in the request, and respond to it.

  • Patent number: 8964597
Abstract: In a method for exchanging routing messages in a wireless meshed communication network with network nodes and a root node, a routing tree is set up with data transmission paths. The root node sends routing requests at regular time intervals to set up the paths, wherein a request contains a specification for a first bidirectional path mode or a second unidirectional path mode. At a respective node, a first field is used to indicate a first or a second node state. If, upon receipt of a request, the first field is in the first state, a routing response is always sent and otherwise not. Next, the node checks the mode specified in the request, ensuring that the respective mode is set. In case of a node to root data transmission, a node also ensures that the first field of the respective network node is in the first state.

  • Patent number: 8934345
Abstract: A station includes a reservation request transmitter, a bandwidth request transmitter, and a data transmitter. The reservation request transmitter transmits a reservation request to an access point during a contention slot specified by the access point. The contention slot is periodically allocated by the access point. The bandwidth request transmitter transmits a bandwidth request to the access point using a first allocated bandwidth allocated to the station as a response to the reservation request. The bandwidth request has a first data structure different from a second data structure of the reservation request, and includes information indicating a required bandwidth for transmitting a data to be transmitted. The data transmitter transmits the data using a second allocated bandwidth allocated to the station based on the required bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 8929248
Abstract: There is provided a method of determining the topology of a base station in a communications network. The base stations sends a configuration request message to a configuration node, and subsequently receives from the configuration node a configuration response message, the configuration response message including topology information relating to the base station. This topology information can be used in allowing the base station to most efficiently set up a communication with another base station.

  • Patent number: 8923302
Abstract: A set of globally-reachable attachment registers is provided for objects in an internetwork of interconnected communications networks. “Objects” can be networks, hosts or terminals, or passive objects which themselves do not have a network interface. Each attachment register corresponds to an object in the internetwork. The attachment registers are not located with their respective object. Information is stored in the attachment registers that establishes one or more logical links between the attachment registers. The information is used to perform one or more network communication functions, and in particular to determine a locator by identifying a logical path, along the logical links between attachment registers, from a destination attachment register corresponding to the destination object. Other non-limiting example functions include location registration and update, name to global locator resolution, routing, multi-homing, dynamic ISP selection, and handover.

  • Patent number: 8923191
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for maintaining communications with mobile users within organizational logical network groups when transitioning between logical groups. A client mobility agent resides as part of a mobile communication unit and monitors link metrics to determine if a transition to another logical network group is desired. The client mobility agents and a server mobility agent collaborate to reassign or re-home a mobile communication unit to a new home logical network group, and provide the mobile communication unit with a new group address upon entering a new logical network. The server mobility agent collaborates with a server mobility agent of the previous logical group that the mobile communication unit was a member to transfer sessions and services associated with the mobile communication unit to the new logical network.

  • Patent number: 8873432
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate to a system for distributing data (e.g., content data) over a computer network and a method of arranging receiver nodes in a computer network such that the capacity of a server is effectively increased (e.g., the capacity of a server may be effectively multiplied many times over; the capacity of the server may be effectively increased exponentially). In one embodiment the present invention may take advantage of the excess capacity many receiver nodes possess, and may use such receiver nodes as repeaters. The distribution system may include node(s) having database(s) which indicate ancestor(s) and/or descendant(s) of the node so that reconfiguration of the distribution network may be accomplished without burdening the system's primary server.
