Abstract: Read delay or write delay is added to server computers of a geographically distributed data processing system so that when writing to a dataset occurs at a first server and reading from the dataset occurs at a second server, the sum of any delay of returning an acknowledgement of completion of each write request and any delay in the reading of data for each read request is at least the data transmission delay between the two servers. For certain client applications such as NFS, the added delay is sufficient to compensate for the transmission delay without the use of a conventional read lock, which would require a round-trip delay. The method can provide an up-to-date global view of the dataset at each of the servers. The method can also provide equal performance of read access and write access at each of the servers.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for endpoint configuration management comprising receiving an endpoint topology and storing the endpoint topology in a configuration store, modifying a configuration for a remote session to conform to the endpoint topology and corresponding the configuration to the endpoint topology in the data structure and presenting to the endpoint the modified configuration of the remote session.

Abstract: An apparatus for determining a route including: a collector that collects a current amount of link traffic and current link power consumption of each link; a virtual link setter that sets virtual links for each link; a link cost calculator that calculates a link cost of each virtual link based on the estimated increase in the link power consumption; a constraint condition setter that creates a constraint condition satisfying a requirement of end-to-end quality of a request flow based on change in quality of each virtual link and satisfying a requirement of end-to-end quality of an existing flow based on the change in quality of the existing flow on the virtual link; a route determinator that determines a route having a smallest sum of the link costs including a plurality of the virtual links satisfying the created constraint condition.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for analyzing and disseminating data within a networked community is described. It is determined whether to gather data from a variety of data sources. Members of the networked community may also contribute data. The data is gathered and provided to an administrator of the networked community. Upon being analyzed, the data is disseminated to the members of the networked community.

Abstract: Disclosed is a program for pre-fetching resources. A computer, communicatively coupled to a plurality of client computers and a server computer, identifies a resource, through an examination of one or more HTTP server logs, that is cached on at least one of the plurality of client computers and has been validated by the server computer. The computer determines to pre-fetch the resource based on one or more predefined rules, at least one of the predefined rules including a threshold number of responses validating the resource that must be received by the computer. The computer pre-fetches and caches the resource from the server computer. The computer receives a request for the resource from a client computer that does not have the resource cached. The computer validates resource cached locally and sends the resource to the client computer from the local cache on the computer.

Abstract: The disclosure describes computer-implemented methods, software, and systems for managing content of a virtual workspace that include identifying an electronic communication addressed to a communication account associated with an enterprise computing system, the electronic communication comprising unstructured data content; parsing the unstructured data content to determine one or more keywords defined by one or more specified keyword symbols; creating an enterprise workspace (EWS) object based on the determined one or more keywords and the unstructured data content; generating EWS content from the EWS object; and preparing the generated EWS content for display to the enterprise user.

Abstract: A system facilitates helping make introductions between users of the system. The system includes information on important and influential people using a social graph to represent relationships between these people and users of the system. Who you know is an important asset and is a typically closely guarded asset. With the system, users can help others users in the system they are allied with to do favors for each other from time to time. The value of the system increases since having one or more allies will encourage the user to ask more of their close friends to be users of the system so that they can be allies. As the system becomes more powerful for the user, he will value the system more highly, be more satisfied, use it more and recommend it more to his friends.
