  • Patent number: 11207495
Abstract: A catheter assembly includes a catheter hub defining an interior cavity and a catheter tube extending distally thereof. A rigid actuator is positioned to extend proximally in the interior cavity and support a seal member positioned thereon in the interior cavity. The seal member includes a central membrane, a distal portion, and a proximal portion. An hourglass shaped actuator cavity is formed in the distal portion and receives a barbed end of the actuator. The outer surface of the seal member is in partial circumferential engagement with the catheter hub to define an air path that allows fluid communication between areas of the interior cavity distal and proximal of the seal member. The seal member may be configured for multi-use and include a biasing member that moves the seal member to force the membrane back over the actuator to close the membrane.

  • Patent number: 11202876
Abstract: A device and method for performing a cricothyrotomy and/or a tracheotomy has an outer cannula. An inner cutting cannula is positioned within the outer cannula. An actuator is coupled to a proximate end of the inner cutting cannula. The actuator keeps the inner cutting cannula in a retracted position within the outer cannula when the actuator is not activated and an extended position where a distal end of the inner cutting cannula extends out of the outer cannula with a force for the distal end of the inner cutting cannula to penetrate one of a cricothyroid membrane or tracheal wall when the actuator is activated.

  • Patent number: 11202857
Abstract: The subject invention provides a drug delivery device for injecting medicament which includes a tubular reservoir; a stopper slidably disposed in the reservoir; a spring for moving the stopper in the reservoir; at least one needle, the needle having a distal end for insertion into a patient, and a lumen extending proximally from the distal end, the lumen being in direct or indirect communication with the reservoir; a needle driver for displacing the needle; and an actuator. Activation of the actuator causes the spring to move the stopper and the needle driver to displace the needle. The needle moves relative to, and separately from, the reservoir with the needle being displaced. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a drug delivery device is provided wherein a needle is moved, relative to the reservoir, in being displaced for injection. This permits control of the needle displacement separate from the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 11197977
Abstract: A catheter has a jacket (10, 11, 5) defining a lumen and a helical support (6). The catheter has a proximal portion (1) and a distal portion (3), the distal portion having for at least some of its length a corrugated outer surface. A transition portion has a flexural stiffness which is less than that of the distal portion and more than that of the proximal portion. The transition portion provides an optimum transition in flexural stiffness by way of features of the jacket including geometry of jacket corrugations (15), or overlapping tubular layers (1073, 1074). The distal end of the distal portion may have an extension of liner material folded over (1072, 1082) to provide a particularly soft tip. In other examples the liner is terminated (763) before the distal tip. The catheter is particularly suited to an aspiration device (1350) with a flow restrictor (1353) and the distal portion distal of the flow restrictor.

  • Patent number: 11191901
Abstract: A medicament delivery device is disclosed having a housing, an actuation mechanism capable of delivering doses of medicament from a medicament container and arranged with a delivery member, a shield, a guard movable within the housing, wherein the guard is operably connected to the actuation mechanism. A protective cap is releasably arranged on the housing and having a shield remover. A blocking element on the guard is movable between a blocking position and a release position and has an engagement surface to engage a proximal area of the housing. The blocking element engages with a surface of the shield remover to retain the blocking element in the blocking position. The engagement surface causes a blocking of the guard from movement and removal of the protective cap enables a movement of the blocking element to a release position when the engagement surface engages the proximal area allowing the member guard to move.

  • Patent number: 11160927
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a drug delivery device having a case adapted to retain a medicament container, a plunger disposed within the case and slidable from a proximal position into a distal position for delivering a medicament from the medicament container, and at least one feedback mechanism that is in operative connection with the plunger. The feedback mechanism includes a collar, a needle shroud, and a control spring biasing the needle shroud in a distal direction relative to the collar. The collar is operatively coupled to the case in an axial direction and prevented from axially decoupling from the case by the plunger when in the proximal position. The plunger, during movement from the proximal position towards the distal position, allows axial decoupling of the collar from the case driven by the control spring until the collar's movement is halted, which creates an audible and/or tactile feedback.

  • Patent number: 11154664
Abstract: An interface of the needle of a medical syringe and realizes that a conical fitting and a conical inclined surface of a syringe barrel and a conical lip and a conical hole of the needle form an interface of the needle; when the conical hole of the needle is plugged onto the conical fitting of the syringe barrel, the needle is fixed onto the conical fitting of the syringe barrel to achieve the purpose of preventing a needle tip from swinging when the needle pierces a muscle or a blood vessel of a human body, so as to avoid misoperation; and after the medical syringe is used, the conical lip of the needle distal away from the needle tip only needs to be pinched flat, the needle can then be separated from the conical fitting of the syringe barrel of the medical syringe.
