Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for determining an optimal spot to insert supplemental content into a media stream to maximize the consumption of the supplemental content by users. An example embodiment operates by performing automated content recognition (ACR) on the media stream, thereby determining scene changes in the media stream. The embodiment identifies a plurality of potential supplemental content spots in the media stream based on the determined scene changes. The embodiment then performs a multivariate test involving test supplemental content over a portion of the potential supplemental content spots to a plurality of media devices, thereby determining the optimal supplemental content spot among the plurality of potential supplemental content spots in the media stream.

Abstract: A mobile device is configurable by a controller to remotely operate a target controllable device, the controller and the target controllable device being part of a hospitality media system. A communication module establishes a connection to the controller and performs data transfer between the mobile device and the controller. A customization module receives customization information from the controller and customizes a user interface of the mobile device accordingly. A status information regarding the target controllable device is received from the controller and displayed on the user interface of the mobile device. A user of the mobile device thereafter issues a command via the user interface to the controller, the command containing instruction intended for the target controllable device. The controller receives the command and operates the target controllable devices in dependence upon instruction contained in the command received from the mobile device.

Abstract: In one aspect, an example method includes (i) determining, by a content-presentation device, a media-device loudness of content that is provided to the content-presentation device by a media device; (ii) sending, by the content-presentation device to a computing system, a request for supplemental content for use in connection with performing a content-modification operation during a content-modification opportunity, with the request including an indication of the media-device loudness; (iii) based on sending the request, receiving, by the content-presentation device from the computing system, a version of a supplemental content segment having a loudness corresponding to the media-device loudness, with the version of the supplemental content segment selected from among multiple versions of the supplemental content segment having different respective loudnesses; (iv) and performing, by the content-presentation device, the content-modification operation using the version of the supplemental content segment.

Abstract: A media content management server is configured to receive, from a first remote server, first metadata associated with a first set of content items, the first metadata representing a first parameter for each of the first set of content items in a first data format, and further to receive, from a second remote server, second metadata associated with a second set of content items, the second metadata representing a second parameter for each of the second set of content items in a second data format different than the first data format. Reformatted metadata is generated by reformatting the first parameter and the second parameter to a common data format. Rules engine circuitry is configured to generate a data transfer package by comparing the reformatted first and second parameters to content access rule data to determine subsets of content items for inclusion in the data transfer package.

Abstract: A driver monitoring system includes an image capturing device capturing a face of a driver of a vehicle to generate a facial image of the driver, and a processor configured to detect an angle of a facial orientation or a line of sight of the driver based on the facial image, and judge distracted driving by the driver based on the angle. The vehicle is provided with at least one indicator showing a presence of a surrounding vehicle in a rear lateral area of the vehicle. When the indicator is turned on, the processor is configured to ease a condition for judging distracted driving concerning a predetermined angular range when the driver looks at the indicator.

Abstract: Methods and systems are presented for transferring an interactive feature from a first device to a second device. Two users may be consuming a media asset. Upon receipt of a command to active an interactive feature, a determination is made whether a user who did not activate the interactive feature is interested in the media asset. Upon that determination, a timer is activated that tracks an amount of time for which the interactive feature is active and a determination is made whether a threshold time period has been met. Once the threshold time period is met, a device associated with the user that activated the interactive feature is identified and the users are prompted to transfer the interactive feature to the device.

Abstract: There is included a method and apparatus comprising computer code configured to cause a processor or processors to perform publishing media presentation description data comprising main live program data, and signaling a client device about ad data and in-manifest data where the ad data instructs the client device of an initial end time at which to end a display of an ad by switching a display at the client device from the ad to the main live program data and where the in-manifest data instructs the client device to determine, during a streaming of the ad to the client device, an updated end time, prior to the end time, at which to end the streaming of the ad by switching the streaming at the client device from the ad to the main live program data.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for a media guidance application that alerts a user to the appearance of objects in media content that may be of interest to the user. For example, as media content progresses, the media guidance application may determine objects that may interest a user. The media guidance application may record the number of determined objects and present the number to the user as well as supplemental content associated with each object.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method of apportioning, by a processing system including a processor, a viewable area of a display screen into a main area and an application area; downloading, by the processing system, media content; displaying, by the processing system, the media content within the main area of the display screen; extracting, by the processing system, metadata from the media content; and providing, by the processing system, the metadata to an application, wherein the application: downloads information associated with the metadata provided in the media content, applies a bitrate limit to the downloading of the information to prevent interference with the downloading of the media content, generates display content based on the information, and sends the display content for displaying within the application area of the display screen concurrently with the media content being displayed in the main area of the display screen. An embodiment operates by determining an app has been installed on a media device and that the media device is connected to an upgrader device over a wireless network connection. A command to execute functionality of the app from a remote control is received. It is determined that a speed of the wireless network connection exceeds a threshold. The command is transmitted to the upgrader device based on both the determination that the upgrader mode is active and the determination that the speed of the wireless network connection exceeds a threshold. At the media device, a response from the upgrader device executing the command is received at the media device, which directs the media device to output content associated with the app.

Abstract: A method for transmitting media data in a Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) Media Transport (MMT) system is provided. The method includes receiving a Media Processing Unit (MPU) fragmented into one or more Media Fragment Units (MFUs), generating one or more multimedia data packets each including a packet header and a payload, based on the MPU, and transmitting the one or more multimedia data packets to a terminal. A payload header included in the payload includes identification information indicating an MPU to which at least one MPU included in the payload belongs, and a counter indicating the number of the at least one MPU.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments for a media device upgrading system with a native user interface. An embodiment operates by displaying a native user interface of a media device configured to operate in both a normal mode without an upgrader device and an upgrader mode when an upgrader device is connected to an input port of the media device. It is determined that the upgrader device is connected a command is received via the native user interface. It is determined that the command operates a software component, and the command is provided to the upgrader device. A response to executing the command is received from the upgrader device, and a response is displayed on the native user interface.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a live video broadcast method performed by a first mobile device. The method includes: receiving a live broadcast command to live broadcast a video game played by a user on the first mobile device, and creating a video buffer for the video game based on the live broadcast command; binding the video buffer with a game engine to detect and extract video picture frames from the video game and store them in the video buffer; transferring the video picture frames into a frame buffer to be displayed on the first mobile device; collecting voice data by using a microphone, and synchronously synthesize the voice data and the video picture frames stored in the video buffer into a video streaming media file; and uploading the video streaming media file to a live broadcast server so as to perform live broadcasting of the video game to other devices.
