  • Patent number: 10369067
Abstract: The presence or absence of objects (e.g., medical implements, medical supplies) tagged with transponders may be determined in an environment in which medical procedures (e.g., surgery) are performed via an interrogation and detection system which includes a controller and a plurality of antennas positioned along a patient support structure. The antennas may, for example, be positioned along an operating table, bed, a mattress or pad or a sheet and may be radiolucent. Respective antennas may successively be activated to transmit interrogation signals. Multiple antennas may be monitored for responses from transponders to the interrogation signals. For example, all antennas other than the antenna that transmitted the most recent interrogation signal may be monitored.

  • Patent number: 10366590
Abstract: Various arrangements for operating a smoke detector are presented. A voltage output by a light sensor of the smoke detector may be measured. A carbon monoxide concentration using a carbon monoxide sensor of the smoke detector may be determined. A smoke concentration using the voltage signal may also be determined. A smoke concentration warning threshold based on the determined carbon monoxide concentration may be determined. The determined smoke concentration may be compared to the smoke concentration warning threshold. A warning alarm may be generated in response to comparing the determined smoke concentration to the smoke concentration warning threshold.

  • Patent number: 10299728
Abstract: An initial set of parameters for operating one or more detection tools is automatically derived and subsequently adjusted so that each detection tool is more or less sensitive to signal characteristics in a region of interest. Detection tool(s) may be applied to physiological signals sensed from a patient (such as EEG signals) and may be configured to run in an implanted medical device that is programmable with the parameters to look for rhythmic activity, spike activity, and power changes in the sensed signals, etc. A detection tool may be selected, and parameter values derived in a logical sequence and/or in pairs based on a graphical representation of an activity type which may be selected by a user, for example, by clicking and dragging on the graphic via a GUI. Displayed simulations allow a user to assess what will be detected with a derived parameter set and then to adjust the sensitivity of the set or start over as desired.

  • Patent number: 10282963
Abstract: A system collects and stores data from a source at a high resolution and/or a high data rate (“more detailed data”) and sends a low-resolution and/or downsampled version of the data (“less detailed data”) to a remote server via a wireless network. The server automatically analyzes the less detailed data to detect an anomaly, such as an arrhythmia, earthquake or failure of a structural member. A two-tiered analysis scheme is used, where the first tier is less specific than the second tier. If the first tier analysis detects or suspects the anomaly, the server signals the data collector to send more detailed data that corresponds to a time period associated with the anomaly. The more specific second tier analyses the more detailed data to verify the anomaly. The server may also store the received data and make it available to a user, such as via a graphical or tabular display.

  • Patent number: 10232821
Abstract: A key ring transceiver module activates when a child has been left inside of a car seat when the corresponding buckle transceiver is out of range. The buckle transceiver system includes a weight sensor indicating that a child is inside of the baby seat, a pair of limit or indication switches indicating that a child is retrained within the baby seat, and a pair of PING/PONG sending and receiving radio pairs that communicate range of the baby buckle transceiver from the key ring transceiver. When the baby seat contains a child restrained within, and the transceiver moves out of range, a distress alarm/signal will be enabled on the transceiver to indicate that the baby is still confined to the restraints of the baby seat. The key ring transceiver will continue to signal a distress mechanism until the baby buckle transceiver trigger has been reset by removing the child from the car seat.

  • Patent number: 10235545
Abstract: RFID tags are used for many purpose including tracking. RFID interrogators are used to retrieve information from tags. In many applications, a plurality of RFID interrogators are required. Synchronization between interrogators in the same theater of operation is critical to ensure that their broadcasts do not interfere with each other. In fixed RFID interrogator applications, RFID interrogators can be wired together allowing a channel to synchronize the transmissions of the RFID interrogators. Methods described herein can ensure that synchronization is maintained in the event of the failure of a synchronizing master. Furthermore, additional methods for synchronizing RFID interrogators in wireless applications are described allowing synchronization in the absence of wired connections between interrogators.
