Abstract: A computer-implemented method of assessing depth-of-understanding is disclosed. The method may comprise receiving a target response associated with a question. The method may comprise receiving a learner response associated with the question and calculating a total relevancy score for each of the learner responses by determining a relevancy score with respect to each word, keyword, and keyphrase in the target response text and in light of all learner responses, and summing all relevancy scores determined for each learner response. The method may also comprise assigning each of the learner responses to one of a plurality of tiers based upon which tier contains the total relevancy score of the learner response and sending to a facilitator client device an assessed response for each of the learner responses. The assignment of each of the learner responses to one of the tiers may be substantially concurrent with the receipt of the learner response.

  • Patent number: 10565897
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system that quantitatively tracks an individual's diet and exercise using smart devices (phones, watches, and other wearables). Unlike existing programs, which work in energy units (calories), the present system works in mass units (grams) and satisfies the fundamental physics law of conservation of mass. Food ingested is tracked as well as exercise in order to place the user on a quantitative, custom diet that safely and effectively results in weight loss. In addition to rigorously treating the problem of weight loss by addressing the physics that underlies diet and exercise, the system empirically learns about the user over time such that performance may be optimized.

  • Patent number: 10504386
Abstract: The current document is directed to methods and systems that provide semi-automated and automated training to technicians who use oral-cavity-imaging-and-modeling systems to accurately and efficiently generate three-dimensional models of patients' teeth and underlying tissues. The training methods and systems are implemented either as subsystems within oral-cavity-imaging-and-modeling systems or as separate system in electronic communication oral-cavity-imaging-and-modeling systems. The training methods and systems use an already generated, digital, three-dimensional model of a portion of the oral cavity of a particular patient or of a physical model of a portion of an oral cavity to compute a temporal, translational, and rotational trajectory of an oral-cavity-imaging-and-modeling endoscope, or wand, during a training scan. The temporal, translational, and rotational trajectory is used for a variety of different types of instruction and instructional feedback to facilitate training of technicians.

  • Patent number: 10446059
Abstract: A hand motion interpretation and communication apparatus for continuously translating hand motions as they represent sign-language into words and phrases to allow for rapid audio and visual communication of that sign-language. Hand motions are converted into electronic signals by eight variable-resistance flex sensors located on the fingers, one accelerometer, and one inertial momentum unit. Movement and positional signals are carried to a central processing unit to be transliterated. The accurate positional signals are interpreted and compared to an internal library of vocabulary. Recognized vocabulary can be immediately displayed as text or vocalized as speech via a speech synthesizer. The internally powered apparatus is completely portable and flexible allowing for free movement of the hand, wrist, fingers, and body.
