  • Patent number: 5016530
Abstract: An ink distributor roll is made of base rubber and two soft rubber helixes. When the ink distributor roll is used adjacent another roll, the soft rubber helixes deform to form pockets between the ink distributor roll and the other roll. The pockets move ink from the end portions of the ink distributor roll toward the center portion of the roll to prevent a buildup of ink at the end portions of the roll.

  • Patent number: 4998471
Abstract: A screen printing system and method is provided in accordance with the invention by using a circular base, a screen, an article to be printed and ink. The circular base has a planar top face. The circular base supports the article to be printed, such as an item of clothing made from cloth. The screen is held in a planar position by a rigid frame. The plane of the screen is positioned above and parallel to the plane of the top face of the circular base. The circular base has a side face with a groove therein which is adapted to hold a resilient flexible annular member. The resilient flexible annular member evenly holds the article to be printed to the circular base so that no wrinkles are allowed to remain in the article to be printed. If wrinkles were allowed to remain in the article to be printed then the pattern of the design to be printed would be distorted on the printed article. The screen includes a fine mesh cloth of fibrous material, such as, silk or nylon or similar filament.

  • Patent number: 4995184
Abstract: A passbook page turning mechanism includes independently movable and spaced upper rollers and independently movable and spaced lower rollers which are vertically movable and which grip the passbook and move the passbook from a printing station to a page turning station. A pair of upper and lower longitudinally movable rollers serve as apparatus to turn the pages of the passbook. At the page turning station, a lower roller of the pair of rollers is raised to flex the passbook and an upper roller of the pair of rollers is rotated to turn the page and to complete the page turning operation after which the passbook is moved to the printing station. The lower roller of the pair of rollers is also displaceable in the longitudinal direction from the upper roller of the pair of rollers. The mechanism also provides for turning one or more pages in the opposite direction from the direction of a normal page turning operation.

  • Patent number: 4988224
Abstract: A ribbon movement controlling cartridge includes a smudge guard/ribbon guide which contains exposed ribbon in a fixed stationary position during cartridge transportation and storage. When the guide is engaged with a printhead, it releases ribbon passage therethrough and acts as a smudge guard/ribbon guide during normal cartridge usage. A Mobius loop forming structure (along a first path for fabric ribbons) includes a central aperture therethrough so as to alternately permit direct non-inverting ribbon passage through the same structure along a second path intersecting the first path, for carbon film-type ribbons. A limited usage metering and self-stopping mechanism insures against over-extended usage of the cartridge. A unique key locking tab arrangement permits a proper cartridge to be positively engaged with a printer while also permitting easy disengagement for cartridge removal and replacement.

  • Patent number: 4986179
Abstract: A stylus actuator unit for dot matrix line printers in which each electromagnetic actuator drives each stylus. An armature is rockably supported by the electromagnetic actuator while fixing a stylus for printing to one end thereof and having at the other end thereof a plunger to be attracted by the electromagnetic actuator. At an intermediate between the stylus fixing end and the plunger fixing end of armature is provided an armature support member composed of a torison leaf spring which is supported by a yoke base mounted on the electromagnetic actuator. The torsion leaf spring has a configuration of the letter E and both side portions are fixed to the yoke base and the central portion supports the armature. When the electromagnetic actuator attracts the plunger, the armature on the side of the stylus is driven in the opposite direction to the direction of attraction, thereby enabling the stylus to impact to the paper placed over the outer periphery of the platen.

  • Patent number: 4983056
Abstract: A cartridge for a typewriter typing ribbon comprises a container for accommodating the typing ribbon which can be of correctable or non-correctable type. A corrector cartridge can be removably fixed on the lower part of the container by engagement means. The corrector cartridge accommodates a correction ribbon which can be of the lift-off type suitable for the typing ribbon of correctable type, or of the cover-up correction type which is suitable for the typing ribbon of non-correctable type. Coupling means on the cartridge and the corrector cartridge permit the engagement means removably to fix the corrector cartridge to the container only when the caartridge houses the typing ribbon of correctable type and the corrector cartridge houses the correction ribbon of lift-off type or alternatively when the typing ribbon is of non-correctable type and the correction ribbon is of the cover-up type.
