  • Patent number: 4710051
Abstract: A device for fastening a closed casing, such as a wire cloth, which should form the circumferential surface of a cylinder, such as a screening drum, has a supporting member with a circularly cylindrical outer surface which is intended to be inserted in the casing at one end thereof and has substantially the same circumference as the casing. The supporting member has a circumferential groove in its outer surface. A circumferential engagement element which is made of an elastic material is so mounted in the groove that its outer surface is located on substantially the same level as the outer surface of the supporting member. A mounting ring is disposed around the engagement element.

  • Patent number: 4557631
Abstract: An off-center rock bolt anchor includes a wedge nut having a modified frusto-conical lower end portion having a first surface portion with an enlarged radius of curvature matching that of the mine roof bolt hole. A threaded hole for receiving the shaft of a roof bolt extends longitudinally through the wedge nut parallel to and close to the first surface. A locking cam with outwardly oriented teeth is pivotally connected to an off-center portion of the top surface of the wedge nut. A plurality of expansion wings are positioned around the lower conical portion of the wedge nut and expand outwardly to engage the walls of the bolt hole as the wedge nut is tightened onto the roof bolt. Initial rotation of the bolt causes eccentric rotation of the wedge nut that urges the teeth of the locking cam to engage the side of the bolt hole.

  • Patent number: 4488835
Abstract: A fish diversion system for a penstock housing a hydroelectric turbine employs large area screens to shunt fish to a bypass conduit above the turbine. The screens are disposed generally lengthwise of the penstock and the upstream screen is inclined upwardly at a shallow angle to maximize water flow velocity along the upstream screen while minimizing the approach velocity normal to the screens. Fish and debris are thus swept along the screens rather than impinged on them. The bypass conduit is sized and positioned to minimize bypass water flow volume while maintaining sufficient volume and velocity to discharge fish from the upper portion of the penstock. The upstream screen can be tiltable for cleaning.

  • Patent number: 4355991
Abstract: A hydraulic tensioning arrangement for an endless drive belt for a vehicle accessories drive system. The vehicle alternator is pivotally mounted on the engine and is driven by a pulley which is drivingly engaged with the drive belt. A hydraulically actuated piston is mounted in a generally fixed position on the engine closely adjacent to the alternator and is operatively connected to the alternator for pivotally moving it to a belt tensioning position. Hydraulic fluid is supplied to the piston cylinder from the vehicle's power steering fluid supply. A ratchet bar is mounted on the piston cylinder and is slidably engaged in a guide bracket mounted on the alternator. A spring-biased pawl is mounted on the guide bracket and is engageable with a series of teeth formed on the extended end of the ratchet bar.

  • Patent number: 4351637
Abstract: A precision roller chain with parallel runs and with an even number of links is trained around a sprocket wheel and an idler wheel and is driven around a racetrack-shaped path. To compensate for the inherent tendency of the chain to tighten and loosen in a cyclic manner, the idler wheel is formed with a smooth periphery and has a somewhat smaller diameter than the effective diameter of the sprocket wheel. In addition, compensating ramps hold the chain outwardly away from the idler wheel adjacent the tangency points of the idler wheel and keep the chain tight when the rollers of the chain are in angular positions which otherwise would cause the chain to inherently loosen.

  • Patent number: 4350399
Abstract: A furniture is provided of a door formed by a series of uniformly sized panels which are movable from a closed position, in which they are coplanar one with another, to an open position, in which they are parallel and folded on one side of the furniture itself. The panels are connected together by means of a parallelogram linkage system which allows the panels to be moved from the closed position to the open position by means of a single control. The panels slide in an upper guide and a lower guide of the furniture and fold onto the left hand side of the furniture, allowing full access to the furniture itself. The parallelogram system comprises two sets of rods which are substantially identical and arranged between an upper side of the panels and the upper guide of the furniture and between a lower side of the panels and the lower guide, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4347760
Abstract: A tractor locking differential (12, 18) is controlled by a solenoid operated hydraulic valve (34). The solenoid valve is in turn controlled by a logic circuit (36) which is responsive to signals received from a differential lock floor switch (32), application of brake lights (26) through the closing of a contact (28 or 30), and also from powering up the tractor. When the ignition (20) is turned on a flip-flop (50) within the circuit (36) will be cleared by action of a power up to clear circuit (58, 60, 64, 66) to dispose valve (34) in its unlocked position. After power up the operator can selectively lock or unlock the differential by application of momentary contact switch (32) which causes flip-flop (50) to toggle. When a brake light switch (28 or 30) is closed the flip-flop (50) will be cleared causing valve (34) to be disposed in its unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 4341253
Abstract: A cover for servicing holes in automotive service stations consists of a band of pivotably connected support members, the ends of which are supported on the longitudinal hole edges. The band is displaceable longitudinally in opposite directions by at least one motor drive to open and close the servicing hole. During the opening movement the band is moved downwardly at one front end of the longitudinal hole. In order to avoid a broadening of this region of the hole the support members are telescopically assembled and are compressed to a reduced length in this region than in the covering region of the servicing hole.
