Abstract: Printed circuit boards bearing chip type electric parts on its underside surface and travelling along a predetermined path are soldered by contact with a progressive wave of a molten solder progressing in a direction transverse to the path of travel of the printed circuit board. A nozzle member provided with an array of molten solder overflowing ports arranged in a direction transverse to the travelling path is moveable in the same direction so as to form the progressive wave of molten solder.

Abstract: A fishing rod holder comprising a mounting bracket for attachment to a structural member of a boat, a tubular body member having open ends for receiving a rod handle inserted through one end and having a slot longitudinally disposed in the side thereof, mounting means for mounting the tubular body member on the mounting bracket to provide limited pivotal vertical movement with respect to the mounting bracket, a lever block mounted for limited pivotal movement with respect to the tubular member and carrying therethrough a threaded rod having a handle and a camming head with the camming head and the end of the rod projecting into the body member slot, and a tongue member having a generally semicircular cross-section disposed inside the body member and meeting and fastened at one end to the interior of the body member and covering the slot.

Abstract: A sinker-anchor for fishing in moving water and having a weighted body with an open tube extending through and outwardly from the body along the centerline, such that a fishing line is free to pass therethrough. A plurality of anchor prongs extend outwardly of the body to engage the bottom and retain the sinker in a desired location.

Abstract: Casting handle for a fishing rod characterized by formation of slip-proof flanges at the tip of the stem of a hold screw which, together with a hold piece, serves to fasten the reel base to the casting handle body of a fishing rod.

Abstract: An evaporation cooled worm carrier consisting of a plastic container divided into substantially equal halves that are hinged, connected and latched in a closed position in combination with ventilation evaporation slots in the container and a separate removable moisture-absorbent bait pouch into which bait is inserted so that bait pouch can be dipped into water for maintaining the bait alive and cool without the use of dirt or bedding for extended periods of time.

Abstract: A wire bonding apparatus which can variously change the shape of a loop of a bonding wire and can restrict the loop shape in accordance with specifications of an article being wire bonded. In the wire bonding apparatus, a wire guide unit moving both vertically and transversely, independently of a bonding tool, is disposed in proximity of the bonding tool which moves relative to the article to be wire bonded and which connects the wire between a first bonding region and the second bonding region. A mechanism is provided which changes the shape of the loop of the bonding wire when the wire guide unit moves vertically and transversely.

Abstract: A barbless fishhook is made of two pieces of bent wire together with a leader joining looped ends of the wire in a tong-like action to engage the fish's mouth and to be removable therefrom without tearing the mouth.

Abstract: A fishing lure retriever for disengaging a lure with fish hooks from an obstacle comprising a heavy main body in the form of a sphere, a fishing line guide extending from the main body and engageable by the fishing lure for guiding the main body along the fishing line, handling line, attached to the body at a point spaced from the guide, and a hook engaging body extending outwardly from said main body at a point spaced from said guide and the attachment of the handling line.

Abstract: A tamper resistant bait station for holding a supply of rodent or other pest bait is disclosed having an outer housing and a tray slidably received within the housing, and is secured in its received position by a tamper-resistant closure. The floor of the housing and the floor of the tray are elevated above the ground and have entrance openings therein in register with one another when the tray is inserted in the housing so that a pest, such as a mouse or rat, may enter the housing and the tray from below via the entrance openings. Partitions within the tray define the various passages and compartments within the tray, these partitions having notches or other openings therethrough to permit the pest to travel from the entrance openings to the bait compartment and to exit the bait station, but yet preventing tampering with the rodent bait and preventing protected wildlife from entering the bait station. The station may be secured to a wall or the like.

Abstract: A fishing lure includes first and second hollow cylindrical tubes that coaxially interfit to define a watertight compartment. Each tube has an oblique end wall and an opposite, open end. A pair of aligned holes formed in walls of each tube align to receive a fishing hook that interlocks the tubes. A flashing bulb powered by a battery in the watertight compartment simulates phosphorescence. The lure can be easily disassembled by removing the hook. The second tube may be reversed and interfitted with the first tube with the oblique end walls of the tubes establishing a storage case for the hook and other fishing paraphernalia.

Abstract: An information system for trawler operation includes a radio link between the bridge or other vessel control station and each of a plurality of fishing devices on the vessel. Each fishing device has a radio transmitter that sends signals from which the vessel operator can determine for such fishing device, such variables as line speed, line tension, line payout and the like. Suitable sensing mechanisms are provided together with appropriate electrical circuitry.

Abstract: A release device for installing between the end of a fishing line and fish hook for freeing a snagged fish hook, the device including a normally closed elongated helical tension spring having a weight attached to the line end of the spring. The device is activated by pulling on the line to stress and elongate the spring which moves the attached weight. A sudden release of the taut line permits a rapid return of the spring to its closed position at which time the kinetic energy of the weight coming to an abrupt halt at the end of the closed spring is transferred into a shock wave passing through the spring and is transmitted to the snagged fish hook to drive the fish hook from its snagged position.

Abstract: The present invention provides a container assembly for receiving fishing minnows and the like. The assembly comprises an outer bucket, a removeable lid for sealing the bucket, a handle for carrying the bucket and a strainer basket for fitting inside the bucket. The strainer basket has a pair of handle portions which are detachable from one another and which can be moved to an out of the way position for gaining access into the basket.

Abstract: A fishing rod holder in which a rod is supported in a butt socket and a yoke on the end of a resilient strap attached at the other end to the top surface of a rectangular tubular housing formed of two channel members. A push switch in the housing and extending out to contact the inner surface of the resilient strap is closed whenever the yoke is moved inward by a fish strike of suitable magnitude, and an audible alarm or a lamp is selectively energized to indicate the fish strike. A novel sensitivity control in the system includes a threaded screw insertable in one of several threaded holes through the housing between the end of the housing and the point of attachment of the resilient strap so that adjustment of the screw on a desired position can accurately control the sensitivity of the alarm. Another feature is the inclusion of a remote alarm circuit that enables the angler to use the rod holder and alarm from a shelter or remote location.

Abstract: An apparatus for desoldering and soldering multipin components to or from printed circuit boards is described. A shallow large area solder pot, surrounded by a recessed area to catch overflow, in combination with a flexible mask is used to apply molten solder to a selected area of a printed circuit board to desolder or solder a selected device.

Abstract: A fish hook formed from an elongated wire having spears at each end and bent into a form such that the spears at opposite ends face toward each other and overlie the body of a lure mounted between a pair of prongs formed by bending the wire into a U-shape relative to the ends. A line attaching portion extends between the prongs spaced from the lure and includes a slip-ring slidably mounted thereon for fastening a fish line. In one embodiment the wire is a continuous member and the prongs are formed by bending the wire beneath the spears and back upon itself to form a limb at the end of the U-shape portion remote from the spears. In another form of the invention the hook may be formed from separate wire elements fused together and may include additional spears fused to the wire. A fish striking the lure or one of the spears results in a pivoting of the hook and lure about the slip-ring to impale the fish on one of the spears.

Abstract: A night fishing signal for use with a fishing pole having a fishing disposition, the signal having a flexible, light transmitting outer container which has a bulbous end portion and is provided with a first chemiluminescent reactant; a second, breakable container disposed within the outer container and provided with a second chemiluminescent reactant which forms a chemiluminescent liquid on contact with the first reactant; and a clip fixed to the outer container for mounting the signal on the pole with the bulbous portion downwardly disposed so that, upon breaking the inner container by flexing the outer container, the liquid collects in the bulbous portion visually to signal movement of the pole when a fish is hooked on the line.

Abstract: A process of brazing using a copper based low melting point metal alloy composition consisting essentially of about 2.5 to 11 atom percent tin and about 11 to 15 atom percent boron, the balance being essentially copper and incidental impurities. The composition is such that the total of copper and tin ranges from about 85 to 89 atom percent.

Abstract: Abutting ends of pipes are aligned by apparatus embodying a body having a threaded opening therein extending axially of the abutting pipes. A threaded actuator member engages the threaded opening and has a conical end defining a cam surface. A radially extending extendible member is carried by the body with its outer end in position to engage the inner surfaces of the abutting pipes and with its inner end extending inwardly of the opening in the body and having a cam surface positioned to engage the cam surface on the actuator member. Radially extending fixed members are secured to the body in angularly spaced relation to each other and to the extendible member with the distance from the center line of the body to the outer ends of the fixed members being equal the radius of the abutting pipes.

Abstract: A fishing rod handle reel seat inside the handle has a first cavity near the front of the handle. A second cavity behind the first opens through the wall of the handle. A movable closure covers this opening. A slide portion has edge-located ribs received in guide grooves in the handle. An unribbed portion is hinged to the ribbed portion and can be pulled outward to a position transverse to the rod handle for use as a slide handle to push and pull the slide between cavity-opening and cavity-covering positions to enable the installation or removal of a reel.
