Abstract: A method for optimizing the location of heating elements within a mold for a rubber article. The position of one or more heating elements, e.g., curing pins or sipes, within the tread mold for a tire can be determined using a 3-D temperature profile so as to improve the efficiency of the curing process. For purposes of the optimization, the number of possible locations for such heating elements can be varied depending upon e.g., the computational time and accuracy desired.

Abstract: A system for demand-based functionalization of a motor control unit comprises a motor control unit, a first data store having a plurality of functional modules each configured to perform one or more functions of the motor control unit and an access device configured to access the first data store and to select at least one of the plurality of functional modules and to load at least one of the plurality of functional modules into the motor control unit. The selection is based on a demand and the selective loading results in a flexibly customizable functionality of the motor control unit.
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, a system has a pulse width modulation controller configured to successively activate each of a plurality of channels in its own individual channel time slot. The system also has a sampling multiplexer configured to successively sample a signal derived from each of the plurality of channels during each individual channel time slot. Each individual time slot has an individual sampling sequence.
Abstract: An electrohydraulic pressure control arrangement comprises a proportional pressure valve and a control loop structure. The control loop structure has a control path through which an actuating variable is fed to an actuating input of the proportional pressure valve starting from a setpoint pressure value. A pressure sensor detects an actual pressure value at a connection of the proportional pressure valve. A system model of a pressure valve assigns an estimated pressure value to the setpoint pressure value, and a subtraction element determines a control error as the difference between the estimated pressure value and the actual pressure value. A weighting element subjects the control error to a weighting operation and thus determines a weighted control error. The weighting element is designed such that relatively large control errors are attenuated to a greater extent than relatively small control errors.

Abstract: With a pressure type flow control apparatus, a valve on the downstream side of a throttle mechanism is released and a flow rate setting value Qe inputted to the pressure type flow control apparatus is changed to detect the magnitude ?V of change of a flow rate output signal Qo from the pressure type flow control apparatus while the flow rate setting value Qe is changed, so that normal functioning of the releasing operations of the valve on the downstream side of the throttle mechanism is confirmed when the magnitude ?V of change of the flow rate output signal Qo is above the predetermined value. If the releasing operations are malfunctioning, the magnitude ?V of changes is found to be below the predetermined value.
Abstract: When a temperature of a semiconductor wafer is controlled to be a target temperature by raising the temperature of the semiconductor wafer, switching is performed so that a high-temperature circulating liquid at a temperature higher than the target temperature in a high-temperature tank is supplied into an inside-stage flow channel, and respective thermoelectric elements in a plurality of zones in a stage are controlled; and then, the temperature of the semiconductor wafer matches the target temperature and a desired in-plane temperature distribution of the semiconductor wafer is provided.
Abstract: A machine tool controlled to restart automatic operation for machining a workpiece from an interrupted point after the machine tool, which has been automatically operated by NC program commands, is caused to interrupt the automatic operation. The NC program commands are classified into a plurality of main groups with respect to the contents of motions for changing the machine state of the machine tool. When the automatic operation of the machine tool restarts after the automatic operation has been interrupted halfway, an order of execution of the NC program commands is determined such that the main groups are arranged in a prescribed order of execution, for automatically generating a machine state restoration command. The automatic operation of the machine tool can restart from the interrupted point without the need for the operator to manually generate or correct a command for restoring the machine tool to its machine.
Abstract: The condition of a fluid piping system is monitored by multiple intercommunicative smart valves, each executing a computer algorithm that designates smart valves as critical or non-critical, compares measurement data versus simulation data, and makes decisions based on the critical-or-noncritical designations and the measurement-versus-simulation comparisons. Initial measurement-versus-simulation comparisons are made for downstream pressure, flow rate, and temperature. If a measurement-versus-simulation discrepancy is found in either the downstream pressure or the flow rate, then the algorithm compares a measurement rupture determinant versus a simulation rupture determinant; if a measurement-versus-simulation discrepancy is found in the rupture determinant, then the smart valve is closed.

Abstract: Methods systems, computer-readable media, techniques and processes for crown or prosthesis manipulation in dental prosthesis design include presenting a 3D model of a multi-tooth prosthesis relative to an area to be reconstructed. An operator may manipulate one or more prosthetic teeth in that 3D model in order to alter the overall shape of the prosthesis. The techniques may also include the determination of occlusion with respect to antagonist teeth—of the entire 3D model of the prosthesis and/or of individual 3D models of prosthetic teeth in the model. The position or shape of the 3D model of the prosthesis may be modified based on the occlusion.

Abstract: A substrate processing system, which repeats a carrying cycle in which a substrate is carried sequentially in a carrying order indicated by module numbers assigned to the modules, respectively, from the module of a lower module number to that of a higher module number, and is capable of processing substrates at a high throughput even if some modules become unusable and, thereafter, become usable. A controller controls a carrier such that the carrier carries a substrate taken out from the module preceding a multimodule unit including a plurality of modules to the module nest in the carrying order to the module of the multimodule unit from which a substrate is carried out at time nearest to time when the substrate was carried out from the module preceding the multimodule.
Abstract: A method and apparatus, often implemented in a building management system, may include receiving data indicative of a threat level identifier, and subsequently receiving a user instruction to associate one or more sets of building system configuration data with the threat level identifier. Each set of building system configuration data may relate to a respective building system. The instruction may be processed to selectively associate the one or more sets of building system configuration data with the threat level identifier. Subsequently, in response to an instruction to implement a threat level corresponding to the threat level identifier, signals may be generated and transmitted thereby to instruct the relevant building systems to apply configuration data corresponding to the one or more data sets associated with the threat level identifier.

Abstract: A software-controlled chemical process emulation system and environment having individually-addressable and/or group-addressable software-controlled chemical system processing modules, software-controlled chemical system handling modules, and related components. The software-controlled modules may be designed and interconnected to emulate various fixed, configurable, and reconfigurable “Lab-on-a-Chip” (“LoC”) devices. The software-controlled modules may be designed as separate units with well-defined ports and interfaces that can be used in the construction of larger systems. Alternatively, the software-controlled modules may be integrated into more complex subsystems that can be used in similar or other ways. These aspects may be used to design a LoC device, develop software for the operation of a LoC device, or may be used together with actual LoC devices as part of a larger system.
Abstract: A power supply and demand control apparatus includes a power generation planning unit that calculates one day's power outputs of multiple distributed power sources and a power flow target of a linking point to another power system, a long-cycle control unit having a long-cycle supply-demand balancing control unit that performs control every few minutes so as to ensure the supply-demand balancing of electric energy in a given amount of time at the linking point in order to perform control for making deviations between total power output calculated by the power generation planning unit and load power in the power system constant, and a short-cycle control unit having a short-cycle supply-demand balancing control unit that performs similar control every few seconds. In the power supply and demand control apparatus, the long-cycle control unit and short-cycle control unit perform the supply-demand balancing control in a hierarchical fashion to determine output assignments of the distributed power sources.
