  • Patent number: 4813865
Abstract: A fuel gasifying burner comprising a gas chamber defined between a bottom wall of a combustion cylinder and a combustion plate formed with gasified fuel blowing openings. A plurality of ventilation pipes extend through the gas chamber for communicating an air blowing chamber with an annular air ejection passage defined between the gas chamber and a fuel gasifying member rotatably arranged within the combustion cylinder. First and second mixing promotion cylinders arranged between the ventilation pipes and the gasified fuel blowing openings are spaced from each other to define therebetween a narrow and bent passage through which gasified fuel-air mixture from the fuel gasifying member flows into the gas chamber. • Patent number: 4809672
Abstract: An efficient gas-fired bayonet-type heater has been developed to challenge the dominant position long enjoyed by the electric bayonet-type heater. The new heater replaces the electric resistance element in the bayonet-type heat exchange shell with a tubular porous fiber burner having a high length-to-diameter ratio attached to a long feed tube for the gas-air mixture. An annular space around the burner and feed tube within the shell provides the path for the combustion gases to flow to a discharge opening near the entry point of the gas-air mixture.

  • Patent number: 4806095
Abstract: A fail safe gas shut off system is provided for a gas appliance. Two normally closed valve stages are provided in series, with each stage operated by a bidirectional solenoid armature. When the armature moves in one direction, the first stage of the valve is opened to supply gas to a pilot burner and to the second stage of the valve. When the pilot flame heats an emissive element to produce sufficient radiation, a photovoltaic device illuminated by the emissive element produces current for an electromagnet which latches the first stage of the valve in its open position. The armature can then move in the opposite direction and open the second stage of the valve to supply gas to the main burner. In the event of pilot flame failure, the emissive element darkens, and current from the photovoltaic device ends. The electromagnet releases the first stage of the valve which is biased closed and cuts off gas flow to both the pilot and main burners.

  • Patent number: 4806096
Abstract: A manual gas cutting torch to be used for fusion-cutting iron materials such as steel frames or iron plates includes a flame port at its cutting tip, a plurality of ports connected with gas and oxygen cylinders at its rear edge, and a handle section for holding the torch with one hand at its middle. A freely detachable back-fire preventive device is incorporated into a gas channel or oxygen channel or to both channels which shift(s) to the cutting tip side from this handle section. The back-fire preventive device serves to stop any flash-back from the cutting tip just before the handle section for preventing the flame from passing through the handle section and escaping back to the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4805076
Abstract: A liquid candle lamp having a base with an opening passing downwardly through the top surface of the base. A disposable fuel cell is positioned in the base opening. The cell has an expanded lower section that has a close running fit with the side wall of the opening and an upper section of smaller size that forms a vertical slot with the side wall of the opening. A burner is mounted upon the top of the fuel cell which is surrounded by a globe-like chimney that is seated upon the lamp base. A skirt depends from the globe and is received within the slot so that the fuel cell substantially fills all the usable space within the base opening thereby permitting a maximum quantity of fuel to be stored within the lamp base.

  • Patent number: 4802841
Abstract: An apparatus which is operated for opening and maintaining the flow of a gaseous fuel to a burner only after the fuel is ignited in a gas appliance, such as a gas room heater. More specifically, the apparatus has a lever with three operating positions, a starting position, an intermediate position, and a final position. From the starting position, which is an inoperative mode, the lever is capable of being moved in a first direction to an intermediate position wherein actuation of a valve to the fuel source occurs allowing fuel to enter into the burner, and a final position wherein ignition of the fuel in the burner is actuated. A continuous force urging the lever in a second or opposite direction is included as well as a locking mechanism for holding the lever in the intermediate position, which locking mechanism is activated only after the lever has first been moved to the final position, hence avoiding the condition where the burner is continuing to be supplied with fuel without ignition of the fuel.

  • Patent number: 4801263
Abstract: A device to place osseous implant substances into interdental alveolar bone defects. This device is an osseous implant syringe with an axial lumen of consistent cross-section to allow movement of the granular substance through the lumen. The granular substance is moved through the lumen by use of a syringe plunger member. Barrel caps are provided to prevent spillage of the osseous implant substance when the syringe is not in use. The outlet of the syringe is sufficiently small to effectively enter alveolar bone defects. An extension nozzle member is provided for those areas that cannot be reached by the syringe barrel member alone. An outlet cap can be placed over the extension nozzle member to prevent spillage when it is not in use. Furthermore, a plunger extension lengthens the syringe plunger member to completely dispense the osseous implant substance from the extension member.

  • Patent number: 4801261
Abstract: An air register apparatus, method, and arrangement is disclosed in which each air register includes two portions, one of which feeds combustion air to an inner, ignition zone where fuel is first ignited, the other of which feeds combustion air to an outer, supplemental zone where the main combustion takes place. These two register portions provide separate and discrete air streams having measurable characteristics which accurately reflect the characteristics of the overall flow through each register portion and which characteristics govern combustion characteristics in the associated zone. Each air stream passes through an inwardly spiralling scroll passageway having a simple upstream air valve at the entrance to the passageway for controlling the flow of air through the passageway. This upstream air valve is remote from the hostile environment of the furnace or other combustion device.

  • Patent number: 4800466
Abstract: An illumination device for a front panel with illuminated areas, the latter eing illuminated by an incandescent lamp sitting in a connection base located behind the front panel through at least one light guide. The connection base is placed behind the front panel so that the incandescent lamp points away from the cover member. The lamp extends behind the front panel to the light guides. To make the incandescent lamp easily replaceable without loss of light, a cover member is removably attached to the illumination device such that removal of the cover member permits ready access to the incandescent lamp/connection base.
