  • Patent number: 4854062
Abstract: A device for illuminating numbers being connected to a conventional low voltage transformer, preferably, across the contacts of a typical switch (momentary type). When the switch is closed, the short circuit bypasses the device's load (low power consumption) to activate the annunciator. The device includes a bracket assembly that slidably holds one or more number or letter assemblies. Opposite electrodes are positioned on the front of the bracket assembly in the upper and lower parts thereof and in cooperative electrical contact with the L.E.D. circuits defining those numbers or letters through contact pads disposed in opposite corners of the numeral or letter assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4850124
Abstract: A plurality of sheets each being substantially the same width and length are combined in a face-to-face relationship, with common first ends of adjacent sheets offset from each other a predetermined distance. The combined sheets are folded on a common fold such that one of the sheets is folded over itself with its opposite ends offset from each other the same predetermined distance. This forms a plurality of equidistance, spaced pockets across the face of the folded sheets constituting an organizer for storing cards and/or stamps. Provision is made, in the form of adhesive stripes to limit the depth of the lateral pockets and to hold the sheets of the organizer together.

  • Patent number: 4848017
Abstract: An illuminated building number assembly (10) includes a one-piece box-like housing (12) constructed of hard molded opaque resinous plastic material and a separate one-piece front panel (14) of molded hard resinous opaque plastic. The front panel covers a housing opening (32) and includes vertical tracks (38a-e) with stops (46) at the bottom ends thereof on each side of the housing opening which allow the insertion of translucent number plates (16) from the tops thereof. A fluorescent light bulb (18) is mounted in the housing along with energizing equipment. When the front panel is mounted at the opening of the housing, the vertical tracks extend into the housing so that the number plates are prevented from moving upwardly by a top wall of the housing. Removable hard plastic mounting strips (20) are attachable at a rear wall (28) of the housing for allowing the housing to be attached externally on a building wall.

  • Patent number: 4848016
Abstract: Existing illuminated signs required skilled workers to replace or change the sign face. The present sign system allows the illuminated faces to be rapidly and easily changed by non-skilled workers. Transparent or translucent plastic envelopes are used to support color transparencies which form the sign faces. The envelopes are easily slipped into and out of the display position. The sign system is particularly suited for use as point-of-purchase advertising in grocery store aisle markers.

  • Patent number: 4848014
Abstract: The invention relates to a frame assembly wherein the frame and viewing area are integrally formed of clear plastic or plexiglass eliminating the need for a separate glass pane. The front frame area is provided with a roughened surface to reduce visibility therethrough while the inner margin is slightly bevelled to accentuate the center viewing area. The back of the frame assembly is provided with a recess for receiving a plastic backing plate having two-way tape on each side. The backing plate, with the picture or document attached to one side, is inserted into the recess on the back of the frame assembly. After the backing plate and picture are firmly inserted into the recess a seal is formed around the periphery of the backing plate to prevent moisture or foreign matter from entering. Subsequent removal of the second peel-off tape exposes a second adhesive coating on the outer surface of the backing plate to permit the frame assembly to be attached to any desired surface.

  • Patent number: 4841651
Abstract: A greeting card comprises a relatively rigid substrate and a layer of resilient material having a first part secured to a surface of the substrate and a second part preformed to define a self-sustaining and elastically deformable three-dimensioned graphic figure. The layer second part is unsecured with respect to the substrate and is in movable relation thereto. The resilient layer first part defines continuous expanse in adhesively secured relation with the substrate surface and the layer second part is perimetrically continuous with the layer first part. The layer first part defines an interiorly open perimeter constituting the border outline of a face and the layer second part defines a face contiguous with the border outline. Also disclosed is method for making such greeting cards. Envelope structure is shown which permits breathing of the card and non-deformation of the graphic figure in transit.

  • Patent number: 4839976
Abstract: An apparatus which serves as both an advertising medium, for business cards as an example, and a dispenser for certain articles needed in a business establishment, comprises a multi-sided, substantially upright enclosure which includes walls upon which the business cards can be placed. In one embodiment, the enclosure is essentially a box with transparent sides, and the cards are placed against the inside surface of the walls. A supporting member for supporting the cards or other advertising media is inside and spaced from the enclosure to define a card receiving space. In another embodiment, a ledge is attached to the wall along with a bracing member to support it. The cards can be placed on the ledge where they are in view and from which they can be readily removed by an interested person. At the top of the enclosure in both embodiments is a receptacle where the articles, such as food products, are retained and from where they can be conveniently taken for use.

  • Patent number: 4839977
Abstract: Enclosed is an assemblage for displaying and dispensing a plurality of sheet-like materials, one at a time. The assemblage can be mounted in a variety of both hanging and cantilever modes. The assemblage includes one or more stacks of sheet-like materials fastened to a clip which is stamped from a unitary flat blank of resilient material. The clip includes a pair of opposed arms joined to an intermediate base section with lines of weakness, each forming a hinge connection. A rivet fastener connects the stacks of sheet-like materials to both arms, while allowing one arm to slide relative to the other, such that the assemblage may be moved between collapsed and expanded configurations. A head portion extends from the base section and includes a pair of opposed, resiliently hinged ears. The ears may be cupped to fit within a pricing channel at an edge of a store shelf to provide one mode of mounting.

  • Patent number: 4835890
Abstract: A display device has two interlocked contrasting elements. A first element is of a first color, and has a top surface configured to resemble desired indicia, e.g. one or more letters or numerals. The first element also has a bottom surface which includes a plurality of first locking members. A second element has a plurality of second locking members which interlock with the first locking members, and is of a second color. The second color preferably contrasts with the first color. The interlocking action of the first locking members with the second locking members serves to interlock the two contrasting elements, thereby providing a good mechanical locking action therebetween. In a first embodiment, the first and second elements together form a generally flat top surface, while in a second embodiment, the two elements are of different top levels, so that the indicia may be either raised or recessed with respect to the background.
