  • Patent number: 9710723
Abstract: Example methods, apparatus, systems to perform context-based image recognition are disclosed. Disclosed example methods include comparing a first and second reference region of a reference image with a first and second region of a first captured image to determine a first and second match value. In response to determining the first and second match values satisfy a first and second threshold: associating the first captured image with a product associated with the first reference image, the product being associated with a plurality of second reference images stored in the database. Decrementing index values associated with ones of the second reference images. Removing a reference record associated with one of the second reference images from the database based on a corresponding one of the second index values satisfying a first condition, the removal of the reference record reducing the storage space required to store reference records in the database.

  • Patent number: 9712806
Abstract: Depth camera systems and methods of operation use coded structured light to determine depth values. One example method includes projecting a structured light pattern towards a target region. The structured light pattern includes a plurality of parallel bars that encode a plurality of codes. The method includes, for each of a plurality of rows of pixels that are transverse to the plurality of parallel bars: decoding the plurality of parallel bars represented in the row of pixels to identify a location of each of the plurality of codes in the row of pixels; determining a plurality of disparities respectively between the identified locations of the plurality of codes and a plurality of reference locations respectively associated with the plurality of codes; and determining a depth value for each identified location based at least in part on the determined disparity for such location.

  • Patent number: 9679199
Abstract: The cross-modal sensor fusion technique described herein tracks mobile devices and the users carrying them. The technique matches motion features from sensors on a mobile device to image motion features obtained from images of the device. For example, the acceleration of a mobile device, as measured by an onboard internal measurement unit, is compared to similar acceleration observed in the color and depth images of a depth camera. The technique does not require a model of the appearance of either the user or the device, nor in many cases a direct line of sight to the device. The technique can operate in real time and can be applied to a wide variety of ubiquitous computing scenarios.

  • Patent number: 9672627
Abstract: A computing device with multiple image capture elements can selectively activate those elements in order to keep an object of interest within the field of view of at least one of those elements, while conserving resources by not keeping all the image capture elements active. The object can be located using an appropriate object recognition process. The location, and thus the motion, of the object then can be tracked over time using one or the image capture elements. The motion can be monitored to determine when the object is likely to pass into the field of view of another image capture element. The determination can be made based upon factors such as location, direction, speed, acceleration, and predicted time within the current field of view. Such an approach allows an identified object to be tracked and kept in a field of view while conserving resources on the device.

  • Patent number: 9639839
Abstract: An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a first memory unit for storing a non-payment application, a first processor, a fingerprint sensing unit and a security element including a second memory unit and a second processor. The second memory unit stores a payment application and user fingerprint information. When the second processor executes the payment application, the fingerprint sensing unit captures a fingerprint image of a user's finger and the second processor transmits the fingerprint image to the first processor via a secure channel. The first processor calculates biometric characteristics of the fingerprint image to generate to-be-recognized fingerprint information which is transmitted to the second processor via the secure channel. When the second processor determines that the to-be-recognized fingerprint information matches the user fingerprint information, the second processor generates an authentication signal for a payment transaction.
