Abstract: When a communication path between a user site and a dual-homed data center is made redundant, a communication between the user site and a server within a data center can be continued. An edge node DCE-1 of a data center 40-1 and edge nodes TPE-1, TPE-2 of a transport network are connected to each other by a link TPE-1-1 and a link TPE-2-1, respectively. The edge nodes TPE-3 and TPE-1, TPE-2 that hold a node AE51 of a user site 50 are set with an LSP 110 of an active system, and an LSP 120 of a backup system, respectively. One of the links is active, and the other link is backup, and the LSP of the TPE node having the active link in the LSP 100 and the LSP 120 is made active. The respective links are prioritized, and the links are switched to an active state in order from the links higher in the order of priority when a link failure or an LSP failure occurs.

  • Patent number: 9380002
Abstract: Pre-sorter systems and methods are disclosed for distributing GTP packets. The pre-sorter forwards GTP packets based upon entries within one or more pre-sort tables, and the entries associate F-TEIDs with output ports that can be coupled to GTP sessions controllers and/or other external systems. The F-TEIDs represent a combination of a destination IP address and a tunnel endpoint identifier (TEID) for each GTP packet. For some embodiments, GTP session controllers analyze the GTP packets and determine F-TEIDs that are created, modified, and/or dropped for user sessions, and the GTP session controllers send control messages to the pre-sorter to determine the entries stored within the pre-sort table(s). For other embodiments, other external systems such as network monitoring tools are coupled to the GTP packet pre-sorter rather than GTP session controllers. Pre-sorters having multiple pre-sort modules with local pre-sort tables, as well as two-stage pre-sort architectures, can also be used.

  • Patent number: 9374831
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide coexistence among independent networks through active superframe interleaving. Network hubs and devices exchange signals over a selected channel only during active superframes of their network. Network hubs broadcast coexistence information during their active superframes. A hub of network B desiring to use the selected channel first attempts to fit its active superframes within network A's inactive superframes, if available. If network A is not providing inactive superframes, then the network B hub determines whether network A is willing to coexist using active superframe interleaving on the channel. If so, the network B hub sends an interleave request message to the network A hub, which may accept the message and send back an interleave response message. The network A hub then offers new inactive superframes, and the network B hub adapts the transmissions and receptions of network B to fit within these inactive superframes.

  • Patent number: 9369894
Abstract: Method, system, device, server and computer program product for analyzing a communication event occurring over a network, wherein a network service provider provides access to the network for a communication client executed at the device to engage in the communication event. The communication client detects a problem with the communication event. Communication metric data relating to the communication event is determined. It is determined, using the determined communication metric data, whether the detected problem is caused by a reason (i) of a poor network condition in the network, or a reason (ii) of the network service provider discriminating against transmission over the network of a type of data used in the communication event. In the event that it is determined that the detected problem is caused by reason (ii), a notification is provided to a user of the device.

  • Patent number: 9370018
Abstract: Examples are disclosed for determining, at a base station, separate open loop power control factors for one or more uplink interference patterns based on received time division duplex configuration information received from one or more neighboring base stations. In some examples, the separate open loop power control factors may be communicated to wireless devices coupled with the base station. For these examples, the wireless devices may adjust transmit power controls responsive to receiving the separate open loop power control factors. Other examples are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 9363776
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described that provide for high precision synchronization between pairs of APs within a tracking area of a position location network. These tools and techniques may provide for incrementally synchronizing timers and oscillators located at respective APs. An AP may transmit a course frequency and timing acquisition signal that a second AP utilizes to estimate a frequency offset and/or time offset. The AP may transmit a subsequent fine frequency and timing acquisition signal which may be used to accurately adjust the estimated frequency offset and/or time offset of the second AP. The second AP may thus incrementally synchronize its oscillator(s) and/or timer(s). These techniques may be utilized over a multi-hop wireless network. The methods, systems, and devices may be applicable to single- and multi-floor location tracking systems.

  • Patent number: 9338721
Abstract: In a LTE-based wireless communication system having neighboring first and second cells a first user in the first cell may experience significant interference from downlink transmissions in the second cell. Such interference can be reduced by selecting a precoder for downlink transmission to a second user in the first cell which will result in reduced interference to the first user after the first user is handed-over to be served by the second cell. The method involves selecting, among a plurality of users in the first cell, the second user to receive the precoded downlink transmissions using the selected precoder. The second user is chosen so as to satisfy a measure of suitability using the selected interference-reducing precoder. Taken together, the choice in the first cell of precoder and second user (UEA) result in reduced inter-cell interference.
