  • Patent number: 8154558
Abstract: A color data setting unit that sets a plurality of sets of fifth color data that are defined in a first color space in one to one correspondence with a plurality of fourth color data sets. An identifying unit identifies some of first reference points, that are in proximity to the fifth color data set for each of second reference points. A calculation unit calculates, for each of all the second reference points, color differences between the fifth color data set for the each second reference point and the some of the first reference points. A determining unit determines, for each of the first reference points, a single fifth color data set that has the smallest color difference among all the color differences that are calculated with respect to the each of the first reference points. A registering unit registers, at each of the first reference points, the fourth color data set that is set in correspondence with the single fifth color data sets.

  • Patent number: 8144171
Abstract: A method for generating a scale-dependent rendering of natural media styles in a vector-based graphics application is disclosed. A vector-based graphics drawing may be resized such that certain scale-dependent parameters are scaled proportionately, while other scale-independent parameters are not scaled. The result of such resizing is a scaled rendering of the vector-based graphics drawing that closely resemble hand drawn images created using natural media materials.

  • Patent number: 8139089
Abstract: In an implementation, an appearance of lens is displayed on a display device for a selected region of an image to magnify the selected region of the image in comparison with a portion of the image outside of the appearance of the lens. A zoomed-in view of the image is displayed on the display device by increasing magnification of the portion of the image outside the appearance of the lens successively as an animation until the magnification of the portion of the image outside of the appearance of the lens corresponds with the magnification of the selected region of the image within the appearance of the lens, at which point the appearance of the lens is no longer displayed.

Abstract: The invention provides an image processing method. An image is provided, and the image is divided into a first subimage, a second subimage, a third subimage, and a fourth subimage according to a decomposing method. Next, the first, second, third, and fourth subimages are processed to generate a first subframe, a second subframe, a third subframe, and a fourth subframe. Finally, the first, second, third, and fourth subframes are combined as a frame according to a composing method corresponding to the decomposing method.

  • Patent number: 8139064
Abstract: An exemplary method of determining a target configuration of an infrastructure aligned with a template includes a step of representing the current configuration of the infrastructure as a graph having a plurality of vertices representing elements of the infrastructure and at least one edge representing at least one dependency between the elements, wherein a given element within a set of possible elements for the infrastructure has a set of possible equivalent elements for the given element. The exemplary method also includes a step of finding at least one cut vertex in the graph representing the current configuration of the infrastructure, wherein removal of the cut vertex will split the graph into two sub-graphs as close in size as possible.

  • Patent number: 8130229
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide for improved timing control in 2-D image processing to maintain a constant rate of memory fetches and pixel outputs even when the processing operations transition to a new line or frame of pixels. A one-to-one relationship between incoming pixel rate and outgoing pixel rate is maintained without additional clock cycles or memory bandwidth as an improved timing control according to the present invention takes advantage of idle memory bandwidth by pre-fetching a new column of pixel data in a first pixel block of a next line or frame while a new column of an edge pixel block on a current line is duplicated or zeroed out. As the edge pixel block(s) on the current line are processed, the data in the first pixel block of the next line or frame become ready for computation without extra clock cycles or extra memory bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 8102406
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system transforms a first sequence of video frames of a first dynamic scene to a second sequence of at least two video frames depicting a second dynamic scene. A subset of video frames in the first sequence is obtained that show movement of at least one object having a plurality of pixels located at respective x, y coordinates and portions from the subset are selected that show non-spatially overlapping appearances of the at least one object in the first dynamic scene. The portions are copied from at least three different input frames to at least two successive frames of the second sequence without changing the respective x, y coordinates of the pixels in the object and such that at least one of the frames of the second sequence contains at least two portions that appear at different frames in the first sequence.

  • Patent number: 8102397
Abstract: A method aligns a character to a sampling grid of an image. An original uniform width path that traces a skeleton of the character is specified by input pen commands having original coordinates. The width of the original path is rounded to a nearest integer to produce a hinted width. The original path is traversed using the input pen commands to identify segments of the path. The segments are stored in an array. Hinted coordinates are determined for each segment in the array. The array is sorted, and a directed acyclic graph (DAG) is constructed. Collisions between the segments are resolved using the sorted array, the DAG, and the width of the hinted path. The segments are fitted to the sampling grid, and the result is stored in output pen commands, thereby aligning the skeleton of the character to the sampling grid.

  • Patent number: 8094154
Abstract: According to typical inventive practice, a baseline describing a statistical distribution is established for a set of historical occurrences of an event. Comparison is made between the baseline and at least one current occurrence of the same event. Any current occurrence that is anomalous vis-à-vis the baseline is considered a possible leading indicator. According to some inventive embodiments of graphical presentation of such comparison, at least one graphical baseline comparative display component is rendered that includes a “bar” (describing a historical statistical distribution with respect to a criterion pertaining to occurrence of an event) and a “slider” (describing one or more current occurrences of the event). The bar includes at least one band representing a statistical mean range, and at least one band representing a statistical outlier range. Situation of the slider along the bar indicates whether and to what extent the current occurrence(s) is/are anomalous vis-à-vis the baseline.

  • Patent number: 8085281
Abstract: A method and system is described for displaying input from a portable computing device to a second computing device. On the second computing device, a display region is created. The region may be a stand alone application or a region inside an application. The second computing device then receives a communication that represents the portable input on the portable computing device. The portable input is then scaled to fit the display region and the portable input is displayed on the second computing device.

  • Patent number: 8085280
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for determining an up scale factor and a down scale factor according to a scale factor received from a graphics application program interface (API) to scale a graphics data in a graphics processing unit (GPU) are described. The up scale factor and the down scale factor may be precisely stored in the GPU based on a fixed number of bits. An actual scale factor which can be precisely stored in the GPU corresponding to the scale factor may differ from the scale factor with a difference. Graphics commands may be sent to the GPU to scale the graphics data according to the up scale factor and the down scale factor separately. A combined scale factor corresponding to a combination of the up scale factor and the down scale factor may differ from the scale factor less then the difference between the actual scale factor and the scale factor.

  • Patent number: 8054314
Abstract: A system and method for applying non-homogeneous properties to multiple video processing units (VPUs) in a multiple VPU system are described. Respective VPUs in the system cooperate to produce a frame to be displayed. In various embodiments, data output by different VPUs in the system is combined, or merged, or composited to produce a frame to be displayed. In load balancing modes, each VPU in the system performs different tasks as part of rendering a same frame, and therefore typically executes different commands. In various embodiments, efficiency of the system is enhanced by forming a single command buffer for execution by all of the VPUs in the system even though each VPU may have a different set of commands to execute in the command buffer.
