Abstract: Lipid-based wax compositions and their methods of making are provided for compositions substantially free of fat bloom. The compositions comprise 0.1-10 percent by weight triacylglycerides, 30-95 percent by weight monoacylglycerides and diacylglycerides combined, and 0.1-65 percent by weight fatty acids. The methods comprise blending the monoacylglycerides, diacylglycerides, triacylglycerides, and fatty acids by heating the lipid-based wax composition at a sufficiently high temperature to destroy substantially all crystal structure within the lipid-based wax composition. The methods further comprise pouring the lipid-based wax composition into a mold or a container having a surface and a core, wherein the pouring is conducted at a temperature at least 15° C. greater than the congeal point of the lipid-based wax composition. The methods further comprise cooling the lipid-based wax composition under conditions sufficient to cool the core to at least 5° C.

Abstract: A liquid fuel composition includes alcohols of four carbon atoms and additives, the liquid fuel composition being for ignition by compression. Various examples pertain to a liquid fuel composition with alcohols of four carbon atoms and additives, with ignition by compression to a diesel cycle fuel engine where the fuel can be able to be produced by means of biotechnology from renewable biologic source, including processes of fermentation of sugars or materials available on sugar and ethanol plants. As an example, a produced fuel can be used conventionally as replacement of diesel in urban transportation vehicles or roads and can be an alternative to diesel fuel. The composition can be employed alone or mixed to fossil diesel oil (e.g., in the engine, etc.).

Abstract: The method allows to incorporate an alcohol or a mixture of alcohols into fuels by minimizing the energy expenditure linked with the prior production of the alcohol or of the mixture of alcohols. One or more bases of the fuel, to which an oxygen-containing compound or a mixture of oxygen-containing compounds have possibly been added, are used to extract the alcohol or the alcohol mixture contained in aqueous solutions produced by biomass fermentation processes. After adjusting the temperature of the aqueous solution stream and of the stream containing one or more bases of the fuel through exchangers, these streams are fed into an extractor. The extract leaving the extractor is then dried and/or an oxygen-containing compound or a mixture of oxygen-containing compounds is added thereto. The raffinate leaving the extractor is sent to a water treating plant or recycled.

Abstract: A process for preparing a renewable biofuel consists of subjecting a bio-oil mixture to deoxygenation in a hydrotreater and then separating hydrocarbon fractions from the deoxygenated product to form the biofuel. The bio-oil mixture contains a bio-oil feedstream and a treated bio-oil feed. The treated bio-oil feed is a stream from which undesirable heavy materials and solid materials have been removed.
Abstract: A radiant heat chemical reactor is configured to generate chemical products including synthesis gas products. Two or more tubes in the radiant heat chemical reactor separate an exothermic heat source, such as flames and gas from a regenerative burner, from the endothermic reaction of the reactant gas occurring within the cavity of the refractory vessel. The exothermic heat source heats a space inside the tubes. One or more feed lines supply chemical reactants to the cavity area between an inner wall of the cavity of the refractory vessel of the chemical reactor and the two or more tubes that are internally heated located with the cavity.
Abstract: An additive composition may comprise at least one phosphorus- and boron-containing dispersant, at least one boron-containing dispersant, and at least one detergent. Such composition may be useful in power transmissions to provide improved anti-shudder performance and/or improved friction durability.
Abstract: The invention provides synergistic biofuel blends comprising a petroleum distillate and two or more fatty acid alkyl ester-containing biofuels. Methods for making synergistic biofuel blends are also provided.

Abstract: Processes and apparatuses for washing a spent ion exchange bed and for treating biomass-derived pyrolysis oil are provided herein. An exemplary process for washing a spent ion exchange bed employed in purification of biomass-derived pyrolysis oil includes the step of providing a ion-depleted pyrolysis oil stream having an original oxygen content. The ion-depleted pyrolysis oil stream is partially hydrotreated to reduce the oxygen content thereof, thereby producing a partially hydrotreated pyrolysis oil stream having a residual oxygen content that is less than the original oxygen content. At least a portion of the partially hydrotreated pyrolysis oil stream is passed through the spent ion exchange bed. Water is passed through the spent ion exchange bed after passing at least the portion of the partially hydrotreated pyrolysis oil stream therethrough.
