  • Patent number: 9918298
Abstract: One embodiment provided herein relates to a method in which a mobile device selects a paging cell whose location area is registered to the network and determines where paging of this mobile device takes place, and selects an access cell to be used by the mobile device when connecting to the network. When the mobile device receives a paging message in the paging cell it sends the paging response through the access cell. Nodes in the mobile network are configured not to reject or filter out paging responses received from mobile devices that this node did not page. Instead, the nodes initiate call setup for such mobile devices.

  • Patent number: 9900443
Abstract: Systems and methods for an enhanced online charging system service are described. A first signaling message is received from an originating mobile station for transmission over a network to a destination mobile station, wherein the first signaling message includes a voice message or a data message. A request from a mobile switching center (MSC), Short Message Service Center (SMSC) or Telephony Application Server (TAS) is provided to an online charging system (OCS) to determine an account usage balance associated with the mobile station. When the OCS determines the account is associated with valid monthly prepaid wireless subscription plan, a first response message is received at the MSC, SMC or TAS. The first response message indicates to the MSC, SMC or TAS to not send, for a predetermined time period, further requests to the OCS to determine an account usage balance associated with the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 9900813
Abstract: A heterogeneous network comprising macro network devices and micro network devices operates to maintain a dynamic data set of neighbor relations for a potential transfer of a User Equipment (UE) device from one network zone to another network zone. In response to detecting a failure of a macro network device to establish a network connection with a network device, a dynamic management of the data set initiates. A capacity number of network connections is determined for the macro network device (e.g., macro eNB sector carrier) based on the data set of neighbor relations. A threshold number is determined from the network neighbor device data, representing the set of micro network devices with which the macro network device is operable to establish the network. A defined number of micro network devices is maintained that is less than the threshold number of the network neighbor device data.

  • Patent number: 9894509
Abstract: A system may receive, from a dongle device (“dongle”), a connection request to receive mobile communication service (“service”) associated with a service campaign (“campaign”) for a mobile device: the mobile device being associated with a first service provider (“SP”); the dongle being associated with a second SP and the campaign; the dongle being configured to provide the service from the second SP to the mobile device; and the connection request including a dongle device identifier (“identifier”) associated with the dongle. The system may compare the identifier with stored identifiers associated with the campaign. The system may determine that the identifier is associated with the campaign if the identifier matches one of the stored identifiers and may cause a connection to be established to provide the service to the mobile device via the dongle based on the identifier being associated with the campaign.

  • Patent number: 9894643
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for allocating resources for transmissions from a secondary station to a primary station, wherein the primary station transmits to the secondary station a first indication of a transmission resource for use by the secondary station for transmitting data to the primary station, wherein the indication of the transmission resource indicates at least one selected transmission resource out of a set of transmission resources and further comprises a second indication which may request that the secondary station sends a report of the downlink channel quality using at least part of the selected transmission resource and that a time offset of the selected transmission resource from the first indication depends on whether the second indication requests a channel quality report.

  • Patent number: 9888506
Abstract: Efficient D2D link integration can be achieved by allowing mobile devices to independently initiate D2D/connection-proxy discovery without re-broadcasting beacons originating from the wireless access point. A mobile station wanting to establish a D2D link may broadcast a search message to neighboring mobile stations, which may return offer messages specifying a connection quality and/or parameters of the candidate indirect connection. The requesting mobile station may then select one of the responding neighboring mobile stations through which to establish the indirect connection. Responding mobile stations may delay offer message transmission by a period that is proportional to a connection quality to reduce offer message redundancy.

  • Patent number: 9888368
Abstract: An Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network uses the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to provide communication services to mobile nodes. A short message service gateway (SMS-GW) in the IMS network receives a request to deliver a message to a mobile node. The SMS-GW determines whether the mobile node is IMS registered. If the mobile node is IMS registered, the SMS-GW may transmit a SIP MESSAGE request to a call session control function (CSCF) serving the mobile node in order to deliver the message to the mobile node. If the mobile node is SIP-capable but is not IMS registered, the SMS-GW may instead transmit a SIP MESSAGE request to the mobile node's IP address. To obtain the mobile node's IP address, the SMS-GW may query a domain name server (DNS) that stores associations between hostnames and IP addresses of mobile nodes.
