Abstract: A method and system for personalizing a plurality of parts are disclosed. All of these parts have an identical part number and one or more programmable functions. The method comprises the steps of employing in a first product a first of said parts; and employing in a second product, a second of said parts. Prior to normal operation of the first product, a first code is set in the first part, and this first code causes the first part to provide a first programmable function during normal operation of the first product. Prior to normal operation of the second product, a second code is set in the second part, and this second code causes the second part to provide a second programmable function during normal operation of the second product. The said second programmable function is different from the first programmable function.

Abstract: Improved techniques that facilitate the use of podcasts are disclosed. The improved techniques can pertain to publishing, hosting, accessing, subscribing, managing, organizing, searching, browsing, transferring, and/or playing podcasts. According to yet one aspect, tags are embedded into syndication feeds that may be made available for distribution by an online media store to facilitate the organization, browsing and searching of podcasts. In accordance with one embodiment, one or more keyword tags may be embedded at the feed and/or episode levels of a podcast, thereby enabling the keywords to be associated with the feed and/or episode. In accordance with another embodiment, two or more category tags may be embedded at the feed and/or episode levels of a podcast, enabling the feed and/or episode to be categorized according to two or more categories.

Abstract: An email system may include at least one email server having mailboxes for storing email messages therein, and a plurality of mobile wireless communications devices. The system may further include at least one email aggregation server for polling the mailboxes for email messages, and forwarding the email messages to respective mobile wireless communications devices. The at least one email aggregation server may divide each of a plurality of repeating polling time intervals into a plurality of subintervals, and schedule each mailbox for at least a first type polling over each subinterval and for a second type polling over each polling time interval. The second type polling may be more comprehensive than the first type polling. The at least one email aggregation server may distribute the second type polling of the mailboxes over each polling time interval.

Abstract: Systems and methods for marking stereo pairs of images include an imaging device for retrieving a collection of images that are representative of a volume, where the images can be representative of a physical volume or a volumetric set of data. A computing machine identifies image elements within the retrieved collection of images representative of a volumetric set of data, and further generates image element values that are based in part on the identified image elements. The computing machine further generates a stereoscopic pair of projection images having two members, where each member of the pair is based in part on at least one image element value generated by the computing machine. A viewing apparatus displays either the calculated stereoscopic pair of projection images or a pair of stereo images selected from images representative of a physical volume, such that when the pair of images are viewed through a portion of the viewing apparatus, the resultant display is a perceived three dimensional image.

Abstract: A method for displaying multimedia content created by a user of a first computerized messaging device to a user of a second computerized messaging device communicatively coupled to the first computerized messaging device by a network includes: displaying, with the second computerized messaging device, a textual instant messaging exchange between the user of the first computerized messaging device and the user of the second computerized messaging device; receiving the multimedia content at the second computerized messaging device over the network; and dynamically embedding a player for the multimedia content in-line in the display of the textual instant messaging exchange at the second messaging device.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a method for allowing a first user to view a collaboratively annotated electronic document. During operation, the system identifies a set of users based on the similarities of online behavior between the identified users and the first user. The system further ranks the identified users based on degrees of similarities between these users and the first user. The system then retrieves an electronic document selected for viewing by the first user and determines whether at least one of the identified users has annotated the electronic document. Based on the determination, the system augments the electronic document with annotations from the identified user and displays the annotated electronic document to the first user.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, computer systems and computer program products are provided for generating user specific web pages. Data related to items that are supposed to be in the possession of an employee may be retrieved from distributed data sources. A web page is generated using these data values for the employee's information and review. These data values can be stored on a chip card that is used for access control and/or control of the circulation of items within the premises of a company.

Abstract: The data path in a network storage system is streamlined by sharing a memory among multiple functional modules (e.g., N-module and D-module) of a storage server that facilitates symmetric access to data from multiple clients. The shared memory stores data from clients or storage devices to facilitate communication of data between clients and storage devices and/or between functional modules, and reduces redundant copies necessary for data transport. It reduces latency and improves throughput efficiencies by minimizing data copies and using hardware assisted mechanisms such as DMA directly from host bus adapters over an interconnection, e.g. switched PCI-e “network”. This scheme is well suited for a “SAN array” architecture, but also can be applied to NAS protocols or in a unified protocol-agnostic storage system. The storage system can provide a range of configurations ranging from dual module to many modules with redundant switched fabrics for I/O, CPU, memory, and disk connectivity.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide systems and methods for implementing discrete mapping for targeted caching in a carrier network. In some embodiments, discrete mapping is implemented using a method that caches content from a content provider to a caching server. The method modifies a DNS entry at a particular DNS server to resolve a request that identifies either a hostname or a domain for the content provider to an address of the caching server so that the requested content is passed from the cached content of the caching server and not the source content provider. In some embodiments, the particular DNS server is a recursive DNS server, a local DNS server of the carrier network, or a DNS server that is not authoritative for the hostname or domain of the content provider.

Abstract: An email system may include at least one subscribed mailbox server having a plurality of subscribed mailboxes and sending a new mail indication upon receiving a new email message, and a plurality of mobile wireless communications devices. The system may further include at least one email aggregation server for polling each subscribed mailbox for email messages based upon receiving a respective new email indication therefrom, and forwarding the email messages to respective mobile wireless communications devices. The at least one email aggregation server may perform a fallback polling of each subscribed mailbox based upon not having polled the subscribed mailbox for a threshold fallback time, and stagger respective initial fallback polling times of the subscribed mailboxes upon startup.

Abstract: Disclosed are a 3D image display apparatus and method. The 3D image display apparatus may adjust a number of viewpoints of a 3D image, distance between viewpoints, and other parameters through varying a display pattern of a viewing zone generating unit and a distance between an image display unit and the viewing zone generating unit. Accordingly, the 3D image display apparatus may effectively express the 3D image suitable for various viewing circumstances.

The method comprises receiving from a remote host a request to perform an operation with respect to content associated with a set of managed content and obtaining information required to respond to the request. The method further comprises providing in response to the request a content locator usable to perform the requested operation through direct communication with a local content system associated with the remote host.

Abstract: A system includes a first database to associate a sub-interface identifier with customer information, a second database to store a history of customer usage records, and a first device. The first device may receive information from a routing device, where the information includes the sub-interface identifier for a sub-interface of the routing device and information identifying an amount of network traffic received at or transmitted from the sub-interface over a time period, use the sub-interface identifier to obtain the associated customer information from the first database, associate the customer information with the information identifying an amount of network traffic received at or transmitted from the sub-interface over a time period to create a new customer usage record, and store the new customer usage record in the second database.

In accordance with another embodiment, a duration tag may be embedded at the episode level to indicate an estimated duration associated with the episode. Upon downloading the episode, the duration may be replaced by the actual duration of the episode. In accordance with yet another embodiment, a new feed-URL tag may be embedded in a syndication feed to identify a new URL at which the feed is to be accessed.

Abstract: Methods, computer readable media, and apparatuses for monitoring communications are presented. A first username may be compared with a second username. The first username may be associated with a sender of a communication, and the second username may be associated with a recipient of the communication. Thereafter, based on the comparing, the probability that the first username and the second username are both associated with a single entity may be determined. In at least one arrangement, in response to determining that the probability exceeds a threshold, it may be determined that the first username and the second username are both associated with the single entity. In at least one additional arrangement, the threshold may be modified automatically based on previously analyzed incident data.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed to display a set of email messages based on response time trends. An email identification module identifies a set of email messages for a user. A response time identification module determines one or more response time trends and each response time trend corresponds to at least one email message in the set of email messages. An email display module displays the set of email messages to the user. A response time display module displays a visual representation of each response time trend to the user such that each visual representation is visually associated with the at least one email message in the displayed set of email messages.

Abstract: In exemplary embodiments of the present invention, information integration software can be used to gather and transform information from data processing system monitors and present the information in one or more custom screens or views which can enable operations personnel and management personnel to manage and operate a system with a minimum of human resources, fatigue and cost. In exemplary embodiments role-based screens can be specifically prepared for use by individuals performing such roles in an entity or organization. In exemplary embodiments of the present invention custom views can be prepared for production managers, financial managers, human resources managers, etc., using similar techniques.
