Abstract: System, method and computer program for initiating a search at a server computer. A data base including a URL of the server computer is stored at a client computer. Information entered by a user into the client computer is received. From the information, a search term and the URL of the server computer are identified. Then, an HTTP search request which includes the URL of the server computer and the search term is generated. Then, the HTTP search request is sent to the server computer. The identifying of the URL of the server computer comprises searching the data base for a character string contained in the information that matches the URL of the server computer. The identifying of the search term comprises identifying a portion of the information appended to the URL of the server. The identifying of the search term also comprises omitting from the portion one or more symbols adjacent to the search term which are inconsistent with a search request using HTTP.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture for creating and sharing an annotation associated with a data object other than the particular data object described by the annotation are provided. The annotation may be associated with an entity, even though the annotation may describe only a particular data object encompassed by the entity. By associating the annotation with the entity, the annotation may be made available to other users viewing information related to the entity, even if the particular data object described by the annotation is not displayed in the information being viewed.

Abstract: The present invention automatically generates an object model from a dimensional model. The object model can then be queried using object oriented expressions.

Abstract: Described are techniques for configuring resources of a data storage system. A definition for each of one or more tiers is provided. Each of the tiers corresponds to a different class of consumer of data storage system resources and has a different corresponding definition including a set of one or more clauses and a priority of each clause in said set relative to other clauses in said set. Each of the clauses in the set is one of a plurality of predefined types of clauses. One or more data storage consumers are associated with each tier. A first set of data storage system resources is associated with a first of said one or more tiers in accordance with a corresponding first definition for said first tier. The first set is used when processing storage provisioning requests and I/O requests for data storage consumers associated with the first tier.

Abstract: There is provided an information processing apparatus for providing encoding technology that enables data size reductions and analysis processing speed improvements even for data including elements having complex attribute values. The apparatus includes a file input unit that inputs a file including elements having a data stream of a predetermined format as an attribute value, a hierarchy information setting unit that sets hierarchy information indicating hierarchical positions for each of one or more delimiters included in the data stream, a structure information generating unit that generates structure information that defines mutual relations between hierarchy information, a designating unit that designates a region of a data stream of a predetermined format from the input file, and an encoding unit that detects delimiters from the designated region and, based on detected delimiters and structure information, encodes a data stream of the designated region based on a preset structured description language.

Abstract: A dictionary at least partially spans a set of discrete q-length signals. The atoms of the dictionary are eigenvectors of a representation of a commutative subgroup of a finite symplectic group. The dictionary may be used for interpreting a radar signal, denoising a signal, compressing data, finding a sparse representation, deblurring at a signal finding a sparse representation of a signal, encoding a signal for communication, encoding a symbol for CDMF communication, classifying a data set and generating a random number.

Abstract: Methods and computer readable media for restoring a database. In a method, a backup of a subset of a database is created, where the subset includes a filegroup and database metadata describing the filegroup. The database is then restored using the database subset. In a computer-readable medium, a first data field contains data representing a database subset having at least one of a plurality of filegroups. A second data field contains data representing database metadata that describes the filegroup. In another method, archived database metadata and an archived filegroup that is one of a plurality of filegroups is accessed, and the filegroup is brought online using the database metadata.

Abstract: A Sort-on-the-Fly/Search-on-the-Fly search engine provides an intuitive means for searching databases, allowing a user to access data in the database without having to know anything about the database structure. A user selects a desired search term, and the search engine searches the database for all instances of the desired term, even if a specific file or table does not contain the instance. The database need not have a specific file (in a flat database) or a table (in a relational database) of names. The user may specify other criteria, or constraints to narrow the search results, or for other reasons. The search engine then conducts a further search using this criteria and produces a second search result. Further narrowing or broadening of the search are permitted, with the search-on-the-fly search engine returning results based on any new constraints.

Abstract: A file system and a method for file storage and file search by the same are provided. All files have unique names in a block-based storage device, such as a hard disk, a flash memory, etc., so that each file is mapped and stored in a one-dimensional storage area. Each file name is matched with a memory block storing data of the corresponding file so that a memory block corresponding to a file name can be found when the file name is input. In addition, through information stored in the found memory block, the data corresponding to the file name can be read from the memory block storing the data or can be stored in a specific memory block.

Abstract: A composite content file editing method includes the steps of dividing each media data included in the composite content file on the time base so as to generate a first composite content file to be reproduced first on the time base and a second composite content file to be reproduced later, and adding, as synchronizing information, information about a position shift on the time base at reproduction start of each media data included in the second composite content file to the second composite content file.

Abstract: Software for managing relationships between heterogeneous objects is operable to identify a target object. The software automatically determines related objects using at least one object type application programming interface (API) for an object type associated with the target object. The software is further operable to populate a relationship data structure based on the determined relationships. The software can then provide the relationship data structure to a requesting module.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a computer implemented method and system that progressively relaxes search terms provided by a user. Data of predefined types is stored in a database. The data is obtained by uniquely modifying data previously stored in the database, based on the predefined types. Search terms of predefined types are accepted from the user. The search terms are compared with the stored data to find exact matches, if length of the search terms exceeds a predefined value. On not finding exact matches, the accepted search terms are modified uniquely based on the predefined types to structure first alternative queries. The first alternative queries are compared with the stored data to find exact matches. On not finding exact matches, the first alternative queries are modified based on the predefined types to structure second alternative queries. The second alternative queries are compared with the stored data to find approximate matches.

Abstract: A plurality of second groups respectively including one or more second volumes are configured in correspondence with each of the first groups of a remote copy source in a remote copy destination, journals are acquired from the first storage apparatus periodically and in the order the journals were created for each of the configured second groups, and the acquired journals are reflected in the corresponding second volume in the corresponding second group. In addition, the latest time stamp of each of the second groups containing the journals retained in the second volume in an unreflected state is compared, the time difference of the latest and oldest time stamps is detected, and prescribed control processing is executed for acquiring the journals regarding the second group with the oldest time stamp in preference to the journals regarding other second groups when the time difference exceeds a preset threshold value.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating a summary of photos from a plurality of received photos are described. The received photos are classified according to predefined attributes. Two or more of the categories are selected, and a ratio value is received from a user relating to the two or more of the categories. Photos are selected from among the photos in the two or more categories based on the specified ratio and based on sorting the received photos according to time information. The selected photos comprising the summary of photos are displayed.

Abstract: A method of sharing data between wired properties associated with disparate data types includes receiving a first specification for dividing data items having a first data type published by an output property of a first service task into a first set of sub-units and a second specification for dividing data items having a second data type consumed an input property of a second service task into a second set of sub-units; receiving transformation logic for transforming data items divided into the first set of sub-units to data items divided into the second set of sub-units; dividing a first data item published by the output property into the first set of sub-units; applying the transformation logic to transform the divided first item to a second data item divided into the second set of sub-units; and joining the divided second data item. The service tasks are registered with an aggregation application that includes a wire between the properties.

Abstract: A user provides an annotation, such as text or graphics, in relation to a resource available on a computer network. The annotation is automatically stored and/or retrieved without requiring separate action from the user to accomplish the storage or retrieval. An annotation interface may receive the annotation from the user. The annotation is then stored in association with the user and the network address of the resource. The user's annotation may be later retrieved and displayed to the user based on the network address of the resource. In one specific embodiment, a browser toolbar receives and displays user annotations associated with Web sites or Web pages to which the user has navigated. Preferably, the annotation interface remains available to the user throughout the time in which the resource is provided. Further controls may enable the user to make an annotation publicly available to others, and to receive annotations from others.

Abstract: A method for realizing the multimedia message signature service includes the following steps: a user asking for opening the multimedia message signature service; the BOSS sending the related information of the user whose multimedia message signature service has been opened to MMSC; the MMSC configuring the corresponding service function for the user whose multimedia message signature service has been opened, and synchronizing the said service function into its user database; the user setting the content of his multimedia message signature. By using this method, a new service mode can be created, and meanwhile, it has the function that enables a user to edit personalized information, and this greatly promotes the development of multimedia messaging service.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, original data is retrieved from an original data source. The original data may be automatically searched for potential personal information, such as a person's name, address, or Social Security number. An obfuscation method may be selected from a plurality of potential obfuscation methods. The potential personal information in the original data may then be automatically replaced with fictional data in accordance with the selected obfuscation method.

Abstract: A set of reference videos is indexed to a reference index in order to facilitate matching of video content. An indexing module receives a set of reference fingerprints representing a set of reference videos and identifies keys contained in the reference fingerprints. Reference identifiers for the reference videos are stored in bins of the reference index associated with the identified keys. The bins in the reference index are sub-sampled to limit the number of reference identifiers stored in a given bin.

Abstract: A customer search terminal system may be configured to accept customer product searches and identify corresponding products and product information. A method for determining the efficacy of the customer search terminal may include receiving customer usage information including data related to customer usage of a customer search terminal and may also include receiving product sales information including data related to products sold at a point-of-sale terminal. The method may further include generating customer purchase behavior information by correlating the received customer search terminal usage information with the received product sales information when a product is sold at the point-of-sale terminal within a prescribed time period relative to a search for the product on the customer search terminal.
