  • Patent number: 8804722
Abstract: A method and apparatus for routing multicast data across multiple multicast routing domains connected by a shortest path bridging (SPB) network is presented. A Shortest Path Bridging (SPB) edge router of an SPB network connected to a PIM network is configured as a Rendezvous Point (RP). A message is received at the RP, and in response, the RP forms a first data structure including multicast sender information. The RP floods the SPB network with a second message containing the first data structure, allocates an Identifier to the multicast stream, and sends a second data structure with sender information. An edge router with multicast receive interest responds with the second data structure with multicast receive interest information. As a result, a receiver in a second network has knowledge of devices in a first network such that multicast traffic is able to be routed between different networks connected to the SPB network.

  • Patent number: 8804624
Abstract: A wireless communication device including a first transceiver, a second transceiver, and a coexistence module. The first transceiver transmits a first signal and operates according to a first wireless communication standard. The second transceiver selects a first channel of multiple channels and transmits a second signal on the first channel. The second transceiver operates according to a second wireless communication standard. The first channel is associated with a frequency. The coexistence module, based on the frequency of the first channel, alters a transmission characteristic of the first signal to be transmitted by the first transceiver and alters a transmission characteristic of the second signal to be transmitted by the second transceiver. The transmission characteristic of the first signal and the transmission characteristic of the second signal, as altered by the coexistence module, prevent interference with the first signal and the second signal.

  • Patent number: 8797883
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing timeout events in a packet network are disclosed. For example, the method detects a timeout event by a first network element, wherein the timeout event is generated due to a lack of response from a second network element. The method then determines whether a threshold for reporting of timeouts is exceeded for the second network element. The method then generates a report by the first network element to a fault management system if the threshold is exceeded, where the report indicates that the second network element has exceeded the threshold for reporting of timeouts.

  • Patent number: 8797844
Abstract: In general, techniques are described for scheduling traffic for delivery over an aggregated bundle of links. The techniques may be implemented by a network device comprising a control unit. The control unit configures a primary logical interface such that the primary logical interface is associated with a primary link of the aggregated bundle of links. The primary logical interface is associated with a primary scheduling module that schedules the traffic for delivery via the primary link. The control unit further, prior to detecting a failure associated with the primary scheduling module, configures a backup logical interface such that the backup logical interface is associated with a backup link of the aggregated bundle links. The backup logical interface is associated with a backup scheduling module that schedules, in response to detecting the failure associated with the primary scheduling module, the traffic for delivery downstream via the backup link.

  • Patent number: 8797893
Abstract: A system and method for managing configuration data on a media gateway and a media gateway controller in a next generation network is disclosed. In one embodiment, in a method of managing configuration data on a media gateway (MG) and a media gateway controller (MGC) in a next generation network, it is determined whether all required configuration data is provisioned for the MG by a configuration management module residing in the next generation network upon boot up. If all the required configuration data is not pre-configured, then the configuration management module sends a message to an associated MGC requesting for configuration data. The configuration management module verifies format of the received configuration data upon receiving an acknowledgement and the configuration data by the MG. The configuration management module also stores received configuration data in the MG and provisions the MG upon a successful verification of the configuration data.

  • Patent number: 8798052
Abstract: A network fabric includes interconnected network nodes, each having access to a database containing predetermined paths from each network node to each other network node in the network fabric. Each network node determines, in response to an incoming frame, whether the frame is a fabric protocol data unit (PDU) having a header containing path attributes including a destination node address. If the frame is a fabric PDU, the node selects a first path to the destination node from the database, and forwards the fabric PDU to a next hop in accordance with the selected path. If the frame is not a fabric PDU, the node selects a second path through the network fabric to the destination node from the database, adds the header with the path attributes to the frame to produce the fabric PDU, and forwards the fabric PDU to the next hop in accordance with the second path.

  • Patent number: 8797906
Abstract: Systems and methods for message-based advertising in a wireless communications network are described. A digital message is contained in a data packet set in transit from a terminal of a sender to a terminal of a recipient. At least one of the terminals is implemented as a mobile telephone. The digital message is received through a network connection. A processor determines a context for the digital message and matches the message context to content of advertisements stored in an advertisement database in order to identify at least one relevant advertisement. The data packet set is transmitted to the terminal of the recipient. A processor retrieves the relevant advertisement(s) from the advertisement database and generates a confirmation message containing a delivery status of the data packet set. The confirmation message includes the relevant advertisement and is transmitted to the terminal of the sender.

  • Patent number: 8792480
Abstract: A method for providing multimedia services to subscriber user equipment (UE) within an IP multimedia subsystem network (IMS) may include configuring the IMS to enable a single UE to fork register and cooperate with multiple serving-call session control functions (S-CSCFs). After obtaining IP connectivity, the single UE signals to register with the IMS and the IMS determines whether the UE is configured to fork register with multiple S-CSCFs. If the UE is configured, the IMS determines which S-CSCFs are eligible for the UE registration and fork registers the UE to multiple S-CSCFs of the eligible S-CSCFs. Consequently, incoming and outgoing calls to/from the UE are routed by the IMS to any of the multiple registered S-CSCFs.

  • Patent number: 8792369
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and an apparatus implementing the method. In the method is determined in a mobile node whether the mobile node supports mobile node specific cyclic prefixes. The mobile node transmits to a base station node an indication whether the mobile node supports mobile node specific cyclic prefixes. The base station node measures a delay spread of a radio resource transmitted by the mobile node. The mobile node receives an indication of an uplink direction cyclic prefix length from the base station node. The mobile node forms a cyclic prefix of the uplink direction cyclic prefix length selected from a useful symbol, adds the cyclic prefix in front of the useful symbol and transmits a signal comprising the cyclic prefix and the useful symbol to the base station.
