  • Patent number: 10832565
Abstract: A system and method for acoustically detecting the firing of gunshots indoors employs multiple microphones (15, 20) which are utilized individually and in combination to detect sounds inside a building or other structure and, upon sensing a loud impulsive sound which is indicative of a gunshot, processing signals from both microphones (15, 20) to determine if the sound is that of a gunshot. The system and method relies on the acoustic signature of the noise as collected, with the acoustic signature being analyzed to arrive at values which are then compared to adjustable levels that signify a gunshot.

  • Patent number: 10817736
Abstract: A vehicle includes one or more laterally mounted microphones and a controller programmed to detect a signature of an unoccupied position adjacent the vehicle in outputs of the microphones. The signature may be identified using a machine learning algorithm. In response to detecting an unoccupied position, the controller may invoke autonomous parking, store the location of the unoccupied position for later use, and/or report the unoccupied position to a server, which then informs other vehicles of the available parking. The unoccupied position may be verified by evaluating whether map data indicates legal parking at that location. The unoccupied position may also be confirmed with one or more other sensors, such as a camera, LIDAR, RADAR, SONAR, or other type of sensor.

  • Patent number: 10769872
Abstract: A method of controlling user access to a protected area is performed by an access control device. In response to detecting a beacon signal transmitted by a user equipment (UE) via a short-range radio access technology (RAT) the access control device determines whether the UE is within the protected area or in an exterior area that is outside the protected area. In some aspects, the access control device determines whether the UE is within the protected area or in the exterior area based on the received beacon signal. In response to determining that the UE is in the exterior area, the access control device performs a multi-factor authentication procedure. If the access control device determines that the UE is within the protected area, the access control device is configured to deny access to the protected area.
