Abstract: This detection device is configured from a gear mechanism (1) provided with first to third counter-shaft gears that mesh with a main-shaft gear (10b), and has a relationship in which the difference between the numbers of teeth of the main-shaft gear and the first counter-shaft gear is two or an integer (a) exceeding two, the difference between the numbers of teeth of the main-shaft gear and the second counter-shaft gear is one, and the number of teeth of the first counter-shaft gear is an integral multiple of the product of the difference of the number of teeth thereof from that of the main-shaft gear and the shaft angle multiplier of a main shaft detector. The detected values of angle detectors (RS0-RS3) are given as digitized angle detected values (P0(4X), P1(1X), P2(1X), P3(1X)) to a multi-turn arithmetic circuit (25). The determination region of the detected value (P0(4X)) of a main shaft is determined, and the rotation angle of the main shaft is found.

  • Patent number: 9506754
Abstract: A parameter related to the Earth's magnetic field can be used to determine accuracy of a magnetometer of a mobile device. In one aspect, a first instance of a parameter related to Earth's magnetic field is determined using data generated by the magnetometer. The magnetometer data can be based in part on a position of the mobile device with respect to the Earth. A second instance of the parameter can be determined using data generated by a model of Earth's magnetic field. The model data can also be based in part on the position of the mobile device with respect to the Earth. The first instance of the parameter can be compared with the second instance of the parameter. An accuracy metric for the magnetometer can be determined based on a result of the comparison. An indication of the accuracy metric can be presented by the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9506736
Abstract: A measurement system identifies geometric errors by using an initial position measurement step for specifying coordinates and dimensions of a target sphere, and an indexing measurement step for positioning rotary axes according to a plurality of indexing conditions and identifying geometric errors from sensor measured coordinate values corresponding to coordinate values obtained by measuring the target sphere with a sensor of a touch probe. Then, in the indexing measurement step, coordinates of the target sphere can be obtained by simply measuring the target sphere with the sensor only three times, using dimensions of the target sphere obtained in the initial position measurement step.

  • Patent number: 9506755
Abstract: Apparatus and methods to compensate hard iron and soft iron magnetic interference in magnetic sensing devices are described. Hard and soft iron interference may be modeled using an ellipsoidal surface generated by a plurality of magnetic field measurements. A displacement of the ellipsoid from a reference frame origin corresponds to hard iron or permanent magnetic field interference. A shape and orientation of the ellipsoid corresponds to soft iron magnetic field interference. The ellipsoidal surface may be analyzed to obtain magnetic field compensation values for cancelling hard iron and soft iron interference.

  • Patent number: 9499953
Abstract: A system for installing an array of pilings for an array of solar panels is highly accurate and efficient. The system includes a horizontal laser and a rotating vertical laser that are mounted on a first piling and aligned with a target on a second piling on the opposite side of the array. An alignment template is placed against a piling and aligned with the vertical rotating laser. The aligned template provides a designated location where the next piling is driven. A hammer target on the pile driver allows the installer to precisely install the next piling. After installation, the next piling is measured for accuracy and if errors are found, an alignment bracket is used to correct the error. The process is repeated until the array of pilings is complete.

  • Patent number: 9470524
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining a rotational orientation of an object is provided. Embodiments of the present invention utilize an electrically conductive fluid enclosed within a shell attached to the object such that the conductive fluid contacts different portions of electrically conductive nodes, located on the inner wall of the shell, depending on the rotational orientation of the shell. The electrically activated nodes in contact with the conductive fluid act as sensors and individually transmit electric signals to a microcontroller for transformation into an indicator of a rotational orientation of the object. The indicator of the rotational orientation is then output.
