  • Patent number: 5472137
Abstract: A sift proof carton and method of folding and sealing the major and minor end flaps of a carton to provide a sift proof container wherein the method includes providing a carton having first and second inside and outside major flaps and a pair of minor flaps, and folding the minor flaps to substantially cover an open end of the carton. Opposite sides of the first inside major flap are then mitered and both the first and second major flaps are positioned in open positions with respect to the carton. The carton is then put in motion and, during such motion, an adhesive pattern is applied from a stationary adhesive nozzle member to selected areas of the second outside major flap and the minor flaps. The first inside major flap is then folded onto the minor flaps followed by the second outside major flap which provides direct sealing contact between the second outside major flap and both minor flaps as well as portions of the first inside major flap so as to provide the sift proof carton.

  • Patent number: 5465845
Abstract: The invention involves a system for bag pack support, easy dispensing, loading and removal of grocery bags involving a pack of bags and a rack suitable for the dispensing of the bags. The pack includes a plurality of undershirt type bags having integrally extended double-loop handles in the bag mouth. Each bag mouth is distinguished by being free of any suspension tabs. Thus, in bag pack form there is no "header". Suspension orifices are located in the handles of the bags. The pack of bags is employed with a rack which includes a pair of spaced parallel cantilevered rods having free ends. The bag pack is threaded onto the support rods by means of the support orifices. The rack includes a restraining means adapted to engage at least some of the bags of the pack so as to at least inhibit any significant forward movement of the pack as individual bags are loaded and removed from the rack. Means are included with the bag pack to secure the plurality of bags in a registered condition.

  • Patent number: 5464107
Abstract: A hollow plastic container including a coextruded translucent plastic outer layer, an opaque plastic inner layer, and a viewing stripe of translucent or clear plastic material extending longitudinally in the inner layer. In one form the container viewing stripe is in the inner layer made of clear plastic material placed behind a thin translucent layer. In another form, the stripe is made of the same translucent plastic material as the outer layer. In a further form an additional inner layer is provided of translucent or clear plastic material. The hollow plastic container is made by coextruding a parison of at least two plastic layers to form an outer translucent plastic layer and an inner opaque plastic layer, and simultaneously coextruding a viewing stripe in the inner layer and extending longitudinally of the parison. This method allows production of a distinct viewing stripe of the same nominal outside color of an otherwide opaque plastic container.

  • Patent number: 5464106
Abstract: A multi-layer preform for forming multi-layer containers includes an extruded upper portion having a first thickness which is adapted to form an upper portion of a container. The preform also includes an extruded intermediate portion having a second thickness thicker than the first thickness. The intermediate portion is connected with the upper portion and is adapted to form an intermediate body portion of the container. The preform also includes an extruded base portion having a third thickness thicker than the second thickness. The base portion is connected with the intermediate portion and is adapted form a base portion of the container. The portions of the preform are preferably formed from an inner layer and a barrier layer wherein the layers are co-extruded for forming the preform and an outer injection molded layer. In one embodiment, the inner layer includes a lip which overlaps the top edge of the barrier and outer layers. A multi-layer container is then formable from blow molding the preform.

  • Patent number: 5447245
Abstract: A graduated proportioning and mixing container is disclosed, which includes two liquid-receiving compartments and a mixing compartment. One liquid-receiving compartment is larger than the other, and both are graduated to indicate ratio-designated levels, by which two liquids may be mixed in definite, accurately and precisely determined ratios. The preferred use of the container is for preparation of two-cycle fuel mixes, containing certain various ratios of gasoline to oil. The smaller of the two liquid-receiving compartments is downwardly tapering, with the volume of the downwardly tapering compartment decreasing toward the bottom of the container. The larger compartment has a complimentary shape, so that the container as a whole has a rectilinear shape. The container further includes two openings, one associated with each liquid-receiving compartment, and each opening has a threaded cap. Each opening is adapted to provide a triple seal, in order to avoid leakage of the contents.
