  • Patent number: 11555865
Abstract: An exemplary inventive optimization model delineates a three-dimensional geometric environment for situation therein of electromagnetic sources and an electromagnetic sensor array used for measuring electric and magnetic fields emanating from the electromagnetic sources. Based on measurements and computations relating to electrical, magnetic, and structural physical properties, the geometric environment is stratified into air, sea, and seafloor regions as well as into electromagnetically distinct zones. The design of the electromagnetic sensor array is optimized through an iterative process involving successive determinations as to how well the electric and magnetic fields emanating from the electromagnetic sources may be calculated based on measurements taken in the geometric environment by the electromagnetic sensor array. Every instance of the electromagnetic sensor array in the iterative process is uniquely located and/or uniquely configured vis-à-vis every other instance.

  • Patent number: 11543474
Abstract: A method is provided for sensing a magnetic field in a magnetic gradiometer of the kind in which pump light and light constituting an optical carrier traverse first and second atomic vapor cells that contain host atoms and that are separated from each other by a known distance. According to such method, the host atoms are prepared in a coherent superposition of two quantum states that differ in energy by an amount that is sensitive to an ambient magnetic field. Modulation of the optical carrier in the respective cells gives rise to sidebands that interfere to generate a beat frequency indicative of the magnetic field gradient. The host atoms are prepared at least in a mode that allows measurement of ambient magnetic field components perpendicular to the axis of the pump light. In such mode, the host atoms are spin-polarized by pump light while subjected to a controlled magnetic field directed parallel to the pump beam, and then the controlled magnetic field is adiabatically extinguished.

  • Patent number: 11525804
Abstract: An optogalvanic effect (OGE) detection system utilizes an intracavity sample cell and a circuit that provides low noise stable excitation and maintenance of a radio frequency (rf) driven gas discharge within the sample cell and a direct current output proportional to the if driving voltage, associated monitoring devices and software. When an optical stimulus interacts with the discharge, any electrical change in the discharge can be simply determined with high precision and accuracy by measuring the impedance of the discharge via a measurement of the direct current output. In a preferred embodiment the rf gas discharge is created with a series resonant oscillator with two push pull sections connected together to generate the high voltage signal. A current source provides a low noise stable current to power the oscillator sections. A band pass amplifier filters the current of the discharge prior to measuring it.

  • Patent number: 11513140
Abstract: A sensor probe includes a body, a sleeve that is moveable along the body between open and closed positions, a clamp having first and second jaws that contain an interior region within the clamp, and a non-contact sensor coupled to the sleeve and positioned at or near a perimeter of the interior region within the clamp. When the sleeve is in the open position, the first and second jaws create a gap that allows an insulated conductor to pass into the interior region within the clamp. When the sleeve is in the closed position, the first and second jaws close the gap and thereby close the interior region within the clamp. The size of the interior region is reduced when the sleeve is moved toward the closed position. The non-contact sensor is configured to detect an electrical parameter of the insulated conductor without requiring galvanic contact with the conductor.
