  • Patent number: 11395128
Abstract: A method for steering a mobile device to a preferred network, such as a Private LTE network or a 5G network, in a scenario in which the coverage area of the preferred network overlaps the coverage area of a non-preferred network. A preferred network list is provisioned into a SIM/eSIM module at the mobile device side. The steering application is hosted at the home network and periodically triggers the home network to request from the visited network a set of values for attributes associated with a current location of the mobile device. Based on these values, the steering application determines whether the mobile device is within the coverage area of the preferred network and, if so, directs the home network to send a cancel location request to the non-preferred visited network, thereby triggering the mobile device to attach to the preferred network.

  • Patent number: 11356914
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods for selecting or reselecting a cell from among a plurality of cells. The present disclosure is also providing mobile stations for performing these methods, and computer readable media the instructions of which cause the mobile station to perform the methods described herein. For this purpose, the mobile station is detecting cells which are candidates (i.e. candidate cells) for selection or reselection, utilizing either the normal coverage mode or the enhanced coverage mode. Further, the mobile station is selecting or reselecting a cell among the candidate cells detected, utilizing either the normal coverage mode or the enhanced coverage mode. The mobile station is performing the detection and the selection or reselection on the basis of stored information indicating whether or not at least one of the candidate cells supports that the detection and the selection or reselection utilize the enhanced coverage mode.

  • Patent number: 11240657
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for communicating a user equipment (UE)'s capabilities to a network entity, such as a base station. An example method that may be performed by a UE includes transmitting a first message to a network entity, the first message comprising a base identification and a delta flag, wherein the base identification identifies base capabilities of the UE, and wherein the delta flag indicates whether there is delta information to be shared by the UE, the delta information corresponding to changes to the base capabilities of the UE. The method further includes determining whether to transmit a third message to the network entity based on whether the UE receives a second message from the network entity, the second message comprising a full capability flag indicating whether the UE should send an indication of its full capabilities to the network entity.
