  • Patent number: 11063825
Abstract: A system and method for failover in a distributed system may comprise a computing device that receives client-provided information that groups computing nodes into ordered subsets. The subsets, or nodes in the subsets, may be associated with client-provided instructions for evaluating the health of a node. A node may be selected for failover based on executing the instructions and evaluating associated performance metrics. When a node is selected for failover, a replacement node may be selected based on the ordering of the subsets and the health of candidate nodes as determined based on executing the client-provided instructions.

  • Patent number: 10999395
Abstract: Disclosed is a dynamically adaptable stream segment prefetcher for prefetching stream segments from different media streams with different segment name formats and with different positioning of the segment name iterator within the differing segment name formats. In response to receiving a client issued request for a particular segment of a particular media stream, the prefetcher identifies the segment name format and iterator location using a regular expression matching to the client issued request. The prefetcher then generates prefetch requests based on the segment name format and incrementing a current value for the iterator in the segment name of the client issued request.

  • Patent number: 10979859
Abstract: An approach for allocating information technology (IT) resources in a networked computing environment (e.g., a cloud computing environment) based on physical location mapping is provided. Specifically, an IT allocation system assigns resources to a specific cloud pool based on the physical location of the resources. By mapping a given physical location (e.g., a defined region of a grid defining a datacenter) to a specific pool, and by enabling the tracking of a resource to a location within the datacenter, the approach can automatically assign a resource to a cloud pool based upon its physical location. Thus, the IT allocation system provides additional pool elasticity while easing the management burden.

  • Patent number: 10970246
Abstract: Technologies for network interface controllers (NICs) include a computing device having a NIC coupled to a root FPGA via an I/O link. The root FPGA is further coupled to multiple worker FPGAs by a serial link with each worker FPGA. The NIC may receive a remote direct memory access (RDMA) message from a remote host and send the RDMA message to the root FPGA via the I/O link. The root FPGA determines a target FPGA based on a memory address of the RDMA message. Each FPGA is associated with a part of a unified address space. If the target FPGA is a worker FPGA, the root FPGA sends the RDMA message to the worker FPGA via the corresponding serial link, and the worker FPGA processes the RDMA message. If the root FPGA is the target, the root FPGA may process the RDMA message. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 10972570
Abstract: Representational state transfer (REST) based geo-aware content transfer includes a REST server configured for receiving an application programming interface (API) request from a client device. The REST server obtains a upload universal resource locator (URL) targeting a caching server that is geographically closest to the client device, constructs an upload link containing the upload URL and a completion callback, and sends the upload link to the client device. The client device uses the upload URL to upload content to the caching server. The caching server interprets the completion callback to obtain a completion URL and, upon completion of content uploading, makes a REST API call using the completion URL. Responsive to the REST API call, the REST server executes an inbound operation to complete the uploading to a content management system and returns the content URL to the caching server which sends the content URL to the client device.

  • Patent number: 10951726
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and systems for performing response based cache redirection to a cache proxy. A device intermediary to a plurality of clients and a plurality of servers and in communication with a plurality of cache proxies, receives a request for content from a client. The request is for content from a server of the plurality of servers. The device forwards the request to the server. The device identifies a cache redirection policy that specifies an amount of bytes of a response to buffer to calculate a signature of the content of the response. The device computes the signature of the content of the response based on the amount of bytes of the response received from the server and buffered by the device. The device selects a cache proxy based on the computed signature and forwards the request of the client to the selected cache proxy.

  • Patent number: 10951737
Abstract: Efficient, reusable, extensible light weight framework orchestrates discrete mainframe service calls as a single composite service call. The single composite call requires a single mainframe socket and the mainframe disaggregates the composite service call upon receipt to process the individual service calls therein, thereby allowing the mainframe to handle more services calls simultaneously. A similar framework orchestrates distributed service calls from a mainframe client.

  • Patent number: 10911543
Abstract: Cloud robotics infrastructures generally support heterogeneous services that are offered by heterogeneous resources whose reliability or availability also varies widely with varying lifetime. For such systems, defining a static redundancy configuration for all services is difficult and often biased. Also, it is not feasible to define a redundancy configuration separately for each unique service. Therefore, in the present disclosure a trade-off between the two is ensured by providing At-most M-Modular Flexible Redundancy Model wherein an exact degree of redundancy is defined and is given to each service in a heterogeneous service environment and monitoring each task and subtask status to ensure that each subtask gets accomplished thereby enabling the tuning of the tradeoff between redundancy and cost and determining efficiency of the system by estimating number of resources utilized to complete specific subtask and comparing the resources utilization with the exact degree of redundancy defined.

  • Patent number: 10834155
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to control of consumption of content in an appliance. The content can include linear programming and non-linear assets. Such control can permit (i) changing a channel in the appliance (e.g., a CPE without upstream functionality) and thus selecting a linear-programming asset, a non-linear asset, and so forth, and (ii) controlling consumption of such assets. In one aspect, a device with upstream network connectivity can control the consumption of media in the appliance. The device can leverage data management and control functionality of a service provider network to acquire information related to assets available for consumption and to transmit asset requests to the service provider network, which can transmit content and signaling to the appliance in accordance at least in part with the asset request, thus controlling media consumption in the appliance.
