  • Patent number: 9319867
Abstract: At present, applying conventional policy and charging control in scenarios where a huge amount of users is supported, such as machine-to-machine type communication devices, represents a number of drawbacks, such as the amount of data to be stored in subscriber databases and the access rate, the signalling load, and the processing performance of nodes. The present invention provides for a method of policy control and enhanced apparatuses enabling the support of user community profiles that apply to a plurality of subscribers, the generation and enforcement of community policy and charging rules derived from the user community profiles and preferably installed upon establishment of a session for a first user. Further sessions to be established for subsequent users of the plurality of users would be enforced with said community policy and charging rules without needs for handling them on individual basis.

  • Patent number: 9264325
Abstract: An apparatus and a method of optimizing voice quality on a network having end-points that are voice over Internet Protocol (IP) devices. Default parameters of the end-points are initialized. Network performance parameters are measured and evaluated to determine whether they signify that connection to the network is below a desired level of operation. If so, the default parameters of the end-points are re-set based on the evaluation. The adjustment may entail re-negotiating the CODEC connection and re-setting parameters for packet size and resetting parameters for jitter buffer size.

  • Patent number: 9258681
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide systems and methods for generating models of a wireless network environment in an indoor space which may be used to predict an indoor location. The disclosure relates to collecting wireless network access point identifier information and power level observed at various locations are collected to generate various signal maps. The signal maps may be used to generate models of the indoor space. In one example, a voting model may use a probability distribution of a plurality of signal maps in order to identify a location with a highest probability of overlap with current signals received at a client device. Once a location has been identified, it may be used to assist with any number of navigational functions, such as providing turn by turn directions to another indoor location, for example, a conference room or exit, or simply providing information about the current location.
