  • Patent number: 6557300
Abstract: A propping support for a chest, having a lid rest fastened on an inside surface of the lid of a chest, and a wall rest connected with the body of the chest. The lid rest and the wall rest are connected by a support device which secures the lid of the chest in a flipped-open position. To improve operational safety, the propping support has a spring holder with a spring element. An actuating element, which is prestressed by a spring against the spring element, can be displaced in a guide between two tilt positions of the chest lid when the lid of the chest is closed. The lid rest and the wall rest are coupled to the spring holder by swivel bearings.

  • Patent number: 6460294
Abstract: A window and door opening and closing mechanism is disclosed which is particularly well suited for use in casement and awning window fittings. The opening/closing mechanism has a hinge arrangement with two linked arms pivoting from a runner which may be attached to the window frame. One or both of the pivoting arms is mounted to the runner on a slider which is movable along the runner in relation to the pivot mounting of the other arm. The mechanism is operable by way of a cable or cord which has portions wound around a spool which is rotatable by the user. Winding the spool in one direction applies a tension to one portion of the cord or cable to apply a force between the pivot mountings of the arms and draw them together on the runner to open the window by pivoting the arms outwardly from the window frame. Winding the spool in the other direction applies a tension to another portion of the cord or cable coupled to one of the arms to draw them back toward the runner and close the window.

  • Patent number: 6460292
Abstract: The present device is directed to a new and improved barrier gate assembly which comprises an automatic vehicle gate operating mechanism and a barrier arm assembly. The barrier arm assembly, attached to the automatic vehicle gate operating mechanism, comprises of a bracket assembly with a hinge assembly attached thereto. The hinge assembly, having a pivot axis transverse to the bracket assembly, pivotally joins the bracket assembly to a plate assembly permitting pivotal movement of the plate assembly away from the bracket assembly. The plate assembly is fixedly attached to the hinge assembly for securing and holding a barrier arm. The barrier arm longitudinally extends from the plate assembly. A magnet-type device is provided on the bracket assembly in alignment with the plate assembly to hold both the plate assembly and the barrier arm in place next to the bracket assembly while preventing pivotal movement of the hinge assembly and thereby the extended barrier arm.

  • Patent number: 6446391
Abstract: A cable actuator for a casement sash includes a cable engager that moves against an opening pull cable and diverts the cable to an elongated path when the sash is closed. When the opening pull cable is tensioned to open the sash, this moves the cable back to a shorter tensioned path that moves the cable engager in a way that initiates opening the sash. Thereafter, the sash opens further in response to winding in of the opening pull cable.

  • Patent number: 6442900
Abstract: The sliding door is secured by a locking mechanism in a closed position wherein the sliding panel is held against a frame. When the locking mechanism is released, the weight of the sliding door causes the panel to move away from the frame while tilting the wheels in which the sliding panel slides into tilted positions. The panel is then free to roll along guide rails on the tilted wheels. When in the closed position, seals on the movable panel seal against the frame. During travel of the panel, the seals are in spaced relation to the frame.

  • Patent number: 6434888
Abstract: The present door gap finger guard is comprised of an elongated rigid fixed plate connected to an elongated rigid movable plate by a narrow springy strip. The fixed plate, springy strip, and movable plate are coplanar when relaxed. The fixed plate is adapted to be attached to an interior surface of a doorjamb, and the movable plate is adapted to be biased against a door hinged to the door jamb. Both plates are transparent for blending in with the surrounding architecture. The movable plate is biased against the door regardless of the door's position to cover the door gap at all times. The springy strip is significantly narrower than either the movable plate or the fixed plate, so that most of the guard is of a rigid material that cannot be collapsed when pushed upon for preventing fingers from getting into the door gap.

  • Patent number: 6430875
Abstract: A power drive system is adapted for a sliding door mounted on at least one side of a vehicle for sliding movement forwardly and rearwardly of the vehicle. The system includes a reversible motor. A bracket is guided within a guide along a fixed path between the opened and closed positions of the door. An elongated drive member is slidably disposed within the guide and connected to the bracket at one end for driving the bracket along the fixed path. A translator mechanism operably engages with the drive member for powering movement of the door. The translator mechanism can include a rotatable hub, operably engageable with the drive member, a gear transmission for driving the hub, and a clutch mechanism for connecting the motor to the transmission. The translator mechanism preferably has sufficient power to pull the sliding door into a primary latch position with respect to the corresponding portions of a latch mechanism attached to the door and frame defining the door opening.

  • Patent number: 6430873
Abstract: A window regulator system has a first rail and a second rail. The second rail is spaced in a parallel relation with the first rail. A first slider assembly slidably engages the first rail and a second slider assembly slidably engages the second rail. A first cable engages the first slider and has opposite ends thereof wound about a first drum assembly. The first cable is guidedly mounted on the first rail. A second cable engages the second slider and has opposite ends thereof wound about a second drum assembly. The second cable is guidedly mounted on the second rail. A drive system simultaneously rotates the first and second drum assemblies. Rotating the first and second drum assemblies effects parallel movement of the first and second sliders. When a window is mounted on the sliders, the window regulator system effects opening and closing thereof.

  • Patent number: 6418666
Abstract: An adjusting device serves for moving a moveable part into various positions, for example a side ventilator window of a motor vehicle. A servomotor (14) drives a spindle drive (18) which comprises essentially a spindle (24) having an external thread (26) and a sleeve part (28) which surrounds the spindle and has a corresponding internal thread (30). When acted upon by an external force, axial play in the region of the spindle drive (18) may lead to noise being produced; in order to avoid the noise, one (30) of the two threads comprises separate threaded parts (32, 36), and an elastically prestressable element (38) is provided with the aid of which an axial force can be produced between the two threaded parts (32, 36). The axial force causes the two threaded parts (32, 36) each to bear against opposite flanges of the external thread (26), so that the axial thread play is eliminated.
