Patent number: 7895920Abstract: A ratchet wrench devised for torquing axially placed hexagonal nut fasteners on hydraulic or similar lines. The wrench is formed of two main components: The first component consists mainly of a straight elongated handle with a semi-circular collar head attached thereto opening to one side. The collar houses three identical metal inserts which when assembled therein form half a peripherally ratcheting wheel with half an axial inner hexagonally shaped socket of predetermined dimensions. The second main component comprises a second mirror-image semi-circular collar housing identical metal inserts, with a tangentially protruding pin member which slides into a slot disposed in the first component. The two components assembled together form a ratcheting wrench with a wheel having an axial hexagonal slot which circumscribes the fastener to be torqued. A spring-biased pawl disposed in the main component engages the ratchet wheel.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2007Date of Patent: March 1, 2011Inventor: Hani A. Abunameh

Patent number: 7886636Abstract: The present invention may be used for rotating a polygonal object. A first wrench member may have a handle with two ends with a fixed jaw attached at a first end and with a cavity formed in the fixed jaw and first end. A second wrench member may be a movable jaw with a curved jaw attached to a ratcheting element. The ratcheting element may be slidably positioned in the cavity to position the curved jaw opposite the fixed jaw. The second wrench member may be constrained by the cavity and a cavity insert member to slide in said cavity about the center of an arc. The second wrench member may be spring biased by an elastic compression element to move toward the fixed jaw. A gripping surface of the curved jaw may be structured relative to the center of the arc to cause the curved jaw to be urged toward the fixed jaw when rotating the fixed jaw against an intervening polygonal object, and to cause the movable jaw to ratchet open when the handle is rotated in the opposite direction.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2008Date of Patent: February 15, 2011Inventor: Douglas J. Patent number: 7827886Abstract: A ratchet wrench includes a drive member rotatably received in a body that includes a compartment extending from a first side toward and spaced from a second side of the body. A control member is pivotable between three operative positions to change the driving direction of the ratchet wrench. The control member includes a first end pivotably coupled to the drive member and a second end covering the compartment. The control member includes a control section selectively engaged with two pawls slideably received in the compartment and releasably engaged with teeth of the drive member. When the control member is in a second operative position, the pawls are engaged with the teeth of the drive member, allowing a handle of the body and the drive member to rotate in either of two directions driving the fastener, and not allowing free rotation of the handle relative to the drive member in either of the two directions without driving the fastener.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2008Date of Patent: November 9, 2010Inventor: Bobby Hu
