  • Patent number: 9616330
Abstract: A game server may maintain a game state for an online game. The game state may represent a plurality of game state attributes and attribute values of a virtual world in which an online game takes place. One or more game state attributes may be related to another game state attribute, whereby changing a value for a first game state attribute may affect the values available to a second game state attribute. A command entered by a first player may affect a first game state attributes (and, accordingly, one or more other game state attributes). To ensure consistency in the way that the virtual world of the online game is presented to other players, one or more related game state attributes may be locked along with the first game state attribute when executing the first command.

  • Patent number: 9607482
Abstract: On a display screen in a gaming device is displayed an upper set of reels, a lower set of reels, and a larger shared reel that extends between the upper set of reels and the lower set of reels, the shared reel containing special symbols, wherein symbols on an upper section of the shared reel are combinable with symbols on the upper set of reels; and wherein symbols on a lower section of the shared reel are combinable with symbols on the lower set of reels. The special symbols may include wild symbols, free spin symbols, instant awards, mystery wild symbols, and secondary game play symbols. Since the player can focus on only one reel, the shared reel, which frequently determines whether the player wins, the player becomes more involved in the game and enjoys it more.

  • Patent number: 9597570
Abstract: In response to detecting a user hitting a pitched ball, a batting simulator system is configured to provide data such as batting average, slugging percentage, and exit ball velocity and distance in real-time. Furthermore, the batting simulator system can both display a trajectory of the hit ball in a virtual stadium and provide the results of the ball hit (e.g., groundout, double, home run, etc.) in real-time. The batting simulator system can store and later output these results to the player to allow the player or a coach to identify hitting tendencies and optimize swing mechanics over the course of one hitting session or over an entire season.

  • Patent number: 9579567
Abstract: Example methods manage data that relates a user to a player slot and to a game controller. One example method operates in a multi-user computer environment that includes a game console and a game controller. The method may establish a first mapping and a second mapping for a game running on the console. The first mapping relates a generic player position to a user profile and the second mapping relates the user profile with a game controller. The mappings rely on mapping data provided to the game through a user interface available during the game. The method controls the game, as a function of the first mapping and the second mapping, to manage controller pairings to attribute actions performed at a controller with a currently mapped user profile and then to a player slot. Controller pairings may be managed while the game is in progress without interrupting a game experience.
