  • Patent number: 7103396
Abstract: When the key operation area is pressed, a decision is made about whether the key is pre-registered a single button dialing telephone number or not (step 3). In case a decision is made that a single button dialing telephone number is pre-registered to the key in step 3, the timer starts when the key is pressed (step 6). In case the key is held down for the predetermined period (T1), an operation to instruct single button dialing via a so-called hold-down operation is assumed, thus causing the single button dialing telephone number pre-registered to the key held down to appear on the display (step 8). When a predetermined period (T2) has elapsed with the key held down (step 9), an operation to instruct a call origination to the telephone number on the display is assumed and a call is originated then conversation starts depending on the answer of the distant party (step 10). Keys on the cover can be used to operate keys on the body.

  • Patent number: 7096043
Abstract: The present invention provides for selectively blocking outgoing calls based on blocking criteria configured by a telephony subscriber or representative thereof. When a call is initiated, blocking criteria associated with the telephony terminal from which the call is being initiated are used to determine whether the call should be blocked or allowed to continue. Once a determination is made, a telephony switch or telephony server supporting the telephony terminal either blocks the call or allows the call to continue as dictated by the blocking criteria. The blocking criteria may be applied to one or more telephony terminals. Further, the blocking criteria may be based on the party being called, time of day, day of week, financial authorization, type of call, or any combination thereof. The subscribers or representatives thereof can easily and efficiently configure the blocking criteria to control whether or not outgoing calls are blocked or allowed to continue.

  • Patent number: 7085574
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for scheduling grant channels to carry grant messages to a plurality of scheduled mobile stations. The scheduling of grant channels involves dynamically assigning to a current mobile station of the plurality of scheduled mobile stations, a previously unassigned grant channel from a list of grant channels monitored by the current mobile station. If there are more mobile stations to be processed in the plurality of scheduled mobile stations, then the scheduling moves to a next mobile station in the plurality of scheduled mobile stations, and the assignment process is repeated. Furthermore, if not every grant channel has been assigned a mobile station, then the order of the plurality of scheduled mobile stations is rearranged, and the assignment and the movement processes are repeated.

  • Patent number: 7069008
Abstract: A mobile station attempts to access wireless data services such as WAP applications via a data call, by first transmitting a session request to a wireless network, where the session request identifies an initial data bearer that should be used to establish the session. Upon receiving notification that the network is unable to establish the data session using the initial data bearer, the mobile station accesses a bearer table stored in its memory, selects an alternate data bearer which may be the next best data bearer, and automatically reattempts the data call without user intervention. The process repeats until the session is successfully established using one of the data bearers in the bearer table, or until the occurrence of a terminating event, such as cancellation of the data call by the user of the mobile station, or expiration of a predetermined time limit.

  • Patent number: 7054633
Abstract: A radio network controller (RNC) transmits a power offset for controlling transmission power of an uplink high-speed dedicated physical control channel (HS-DPCCH) when a user equipment (UE) enters a handover region, in a mobile communication system including the RNC, a Node B connected to the RNC, and the UE located in one of at least two cell areas occupied by the Node B. The Node B transmits data to the UE over a high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) and the UE transmits information indicating reception of the data to the Node B over the uplink HS-DPCCH. The RNC informs the UE of a power offset for determining a transmission power increment of the uplink HS-DPCCH, if it is determined that the UE is located in the handover region. The RNC informs the Node B of the power offset so that the Node B can determine a threshold value for determining information indicating reception of the data, depending on the power offset.
