Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and it includes identifying a root term and determining one or more other terms belonging to a group associated with the root term. The method also includes selecting one or more of the terms from the group and generating a concept based on the selected terms from the group, wherein the concept is applied to a rule that affects data management for one or more documents that satisfy the rule. In more specific embodiments, the root term is identified via a search or via an incident list. In other embodiments, a collection of meaningful terms is provided to assist in determining the other terms for the group, the collection of meaningful terms being generated based on the root term. The concept can be used to automatically mark one or more documents that relate to the concept.

Abstract: A sender-driven framework for enhancing the categorization of emails, wherein the sender is able to create or define rules that refine or augment those at the receiver's end. Particularly, the sender is enabled, in accordance with at least one embodiment of the present invention, to add information relating to the context of an email, which can help streamline categorization at the receiver's end.

Abstract: A case database management system capable of maintaining high quality case information registered in a case DB. A user of the case database management system can not only refer to case information registered in the case DB by user terminals, but also evaluate the case information. The case DB server of the system collects evaluation information evaluated by the user for each case information item and assigns each case information item with an evaluation containing an evaluation point indicating usefulness of the case information. This enables the case database management system to register more highly evaluated (high quality) case information in the case DB and to provide the user with useful case information.

Abstract: A method and system for displaying a web page. Each record in a container browser includes a web site locator of a web site and a web browser identifier of a web browser associated with the web site. A first web browser retrieves and displays a particular web page from a first web site. A user desires to replace a web browser identifier of a first web browser in a first record in the container browser with a web browser identifier of a second web browser. The web browser identifier of the second web browser is received from the user. The web browser identifier of the first web browser is replaced by the web browser identifier of the second web browser in the first record. The second web browser retrieves and displays the particular web page from the first web site.

Abstract: Techniques for utilizing data mining technology to extract universal topics with multilingual representations from a multilingual database, and to organize existing or new documents in different languages by analyzing their respective topic distributions.

Abstract: Architecture for completing search queries by using artificial intelligence based schemes to infer search intentions of users. Partial queries are completed dynamically in real time. Additionally, search aliasing can also be employed. Custom tuning can be performed based on at least query inputs in the form of text, graffiti, images, handwriting, voice, audio, and video signals. Natural language processing occurs, along with handwriting recognition and slang recognition. The system includes a classifier that receives a partial query as input, accesses a query database based on contents of the query input, and infers an intended search goal from query information stored on the query database. A query formulation engine receives search information associated with the intended search goal and generates a completed formal query for execution.

Abstract: A web page has a player for playing media objects, a sequencer which displays a playlist that defines an order in which media objects are played by the player, and a media access area for containing a plurality of graphical icons. Each graphical icon representing a media object, and the graphical icons can be manipulated by a user to modify the play list. For example, the media icons may be dragged to the sequencer to add them to the sequencer.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a user-customized recommended word or words is provided, in which a recommended service log stored in a user terminal is classified according to at least one index, the indexed recommended service log is respectively stored for each index, and the user-customized recommended word or words are extracted in association with a user input query being inputted to a web browser of the user.

Abstract: A self-adapting classification system (“SACS”) generates an evolving classification for content. The classification may start with a seed review process, which generates a level of trust for initial reviews of the content. Once the seed review is completed and distributed, users may submit content reviews to the self adapting classification system. Using the SACS, users may identify themselves with one or more community groups, which indicate certain shared values and preferences with respect to other members of the same community group. Content reviews received by the SACS may comprise a user identifier pertaining to the submitting user, a content descriptor and an associated classification.

Abstract: A system and method for managing media advertising enterprise data including a process for learning enterprise data matching. An EDM (Enterprise Data Management) application module can be configured to include a set of rules at an enterprise level to manage disparate and disconnected records associated with an entity. A number of unmatched and enterprise entities that matches with respect to an active entity can be returned based on a fuzzy logic associated with various matching options stored in an EDM database. A matching process can then be performed to accurately match similar records regardless of manual input, location, and format of the records in a distributed system. Each unmatched record can then be assigned with a parent enterprise entity. Such an optimization mechanism can interactively manage and report records at the enterprise level in a simple and efficient manner.

Abstract: Provided are techniques for incrementally integrating and persisting context over an available observational space. At least one feature associated with a new observation is used to create at least one index key. The at least one index key is used to query one or more reverse lookup tables to locate at least one previously persisted candidate observation. The new observation is evaluated against the at least one previously persisted candidate observation to determine at least one relationship. In response to determining the at least one relationship, a threshold is used to make a new assertion about the at least one relationship. The new observation is used to review previous assertions to determine whether a previous assertion is to be reversed. In response to reversing the previous assertion, the new observation, the new assertion, and the reversed assertion are incrementally integrated into persistent context.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for an anonymous personalized recommendation is provided. The method includes receiving select server fingerprints selected from server fingerprints based on predetermined metrics. The server fingerprints correspond to a plurality of public entities and each server fingerprint includes encoded information about a corresponding public entity. The method also includes generating a user fingerprint based on user information associated with a user, the user fingerprint comprising encoded user information. The method further includes comparing the user fingerprint with the select server fingerprints to select a server fingerprint for recommendation, generating a recommendation of a public entity corresponding to the server fingerprint for recommendation, and displaying the recommendation. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: A method of establishing personalized limits on a search responsive to a key word query in an enterprise search system is described that includes receiving an object types access history for a particular user. Applying this method, the object types access history includes records of object types selected from search results returning multiple object types and records of object types selected via interfaces other than search results. The method continues with determining and storing in computer readable memory a personalized scope of object types. The personalized scope of object types sets a limit on object types initially returned by an enterprise search system for the particular user in response to key word queries by the particular user that do not specify object types to search.

Abstract: In a method for organizing information in a database, abstractions are separated from expressions of the abstractions to obtain a first set of information corresponding to the abstractions and a second set of information corresponding to at least one set of characteristics relating to the expressions of the abstractions. Each abstraction is arranged within the first set of information hierarchically within the database. Each set of characteristics relating to an expression of an abstraction within the second set of information is associated with an abstraction within the database.

Abstract: A collection of data stored in a computer-readable storage medium is provided, and a plurality of portions of the collection are associated with corresponding identifiers that are associated with positions of an object to be rendered. User selections of positions on the surface of the object are received. The portions associated with the user selected position are determined, and the portions are displayed at their respective position on the surface of the object. The selected portions can be displayed as being connected by graphical elements.
