  • Patent number: 12692779
Abstract: A downhole instrument includes an instrument housing, a sensor yoke rotatably mounted within the instrument housing, and an angular rate sensor carried by the sensor yoke. A first rotational stop is mounted to the instrument housing that defines a first rotational position of the sensor yoke. A second rotational stop mounted to the instrument housing defines a second rotational position of the sensor yoke that is rotationally spaced from the first rotational position. A differential screw may be connected to the second rotational stop that is adapted to adjust a position of the second rotational position. A torsion coupling may be coupled between the rotational driver and the sensor yoke, where the torsion coupling is energized by the motor that rotates the sensor yoke with a returning force that resists movement of the sensor yoke away from the first rotational stop.

  • Patent number: 12674364
Abstract: Herein are described methods and systems for characterizing noise and noise level in pressure measurements in a downhole pressure testing operation in formation testing while drilling. The pressure measurements are acquired using a formation testing tool disposed on a drill string. • Patent number: 12674377
Abstract: A downhole tool, comprising: an inner body, having first and second connections in a drill string to convey fluid from immediately upper to immediately lower components. The inner body defines a flow bore which communicates between the first and second connections. An outer body disposed around at least part of the inner body is axially movable with respect to the inner body, in a direction which is parallel or substantially parallel with a longitudinal axis of the tool, such that introduction of pressurised fluid into pressure chambers tends to drive the outer body axially with respect to the inner body. The tool further comprises a component which is activated or operated by axial movement of the outer body with respect to the inner body.

  • Patent number: 12669030
Abstract: A method of improving heat recovery from a geothermal well includes receiving temperature distribution data from a distributed temperature sensing (DTS) system comprising a fiber optic cable disposed in a wellbore, which extends through a formation; analyzing the temperature distribution data to determine a fluid flow profile along the wellbore; determining, based on the fluid flow profile, a location of dominant flow rate; and injecting a sealing agent into the formation at the location. When the sealing agent cures, fractures within a fracture system are sealed in the formation at the location. The cured sealing agent prevents or mitigates fluid flow through the formation at the location.

  • Patent number: 12650065
Abstract: Methods for optimization of liquid oil production by huff-n-puff in shale reservoirs to achieve an improved (and optimal) oil recovery factor. The process determines and utilizes the optimum huff and puff times, number of cycles and soaking time under practical operation and reservoir conditions. The huff time in the process is a period so long that the pressure near the wellbore reaches the set maximum injection pressure during the huff period. The puff time in the process is the time required for the pressure near the wellbore to reach the set minimum production pressure during the puff period. Soaking is typically not necessary during the huff-n-puff gas injection in shale oil reservoirs. The number of huff-n-puff cycles is determinable by the time in which the economic rate cut-off is reached.

  • Patent number: 12612851
Abstract: A parameter roadmap system receiving reference wellbore data including drilling parameter data for one or more reference wellbores and selects a segmentation parameter set and associated segmentation parameter data from the reference wellbore data. Based on the segmentation parameter data, the parameter roadmap system segments the reference wellbore data into a plurality of depth segments using a statistical segmentation model. The parameter roadmap system identifies a segment threshold for each drilling parameter of the reference wellbore data at each of the plurality of depth segments to generate a drilling parameter roadmap and provides the roadmap for forming a target wellbore.

  • Patent number: 12612828
Abstract: A travel joint may accommodate relative movement between an upper and lower completion for communication of well fluids and control signals, while protecting the control lines used for signal control. In one example, the travel joint has an upper tubular member telescopically coupled to the lower tubular member to collectively define a flow path for well fluids through the travel joint. A plurality of telescoping control line conduits are secured about a travel joint periphery, each including an outer tube telescopically coupled to an inner tube to accommodate relative movement between the upper and lower tubular members. A control line routed through each telescoping control line conduit. A dynamic or expanding/hardening seal interface may be provided in the control line conduit to protect the control lines routed therethrough.
