  • Patent number: 9965476
Abstract: A method of indexing multimedia content by creating database records that include location data is disclosed. Devices that generate multimedia content also generate location data corresponding to the location of the device when the content is generated. The location data includes geographical coordinates such as latitude and longitude as well as orientation and tilt. Other data may be recorded such as date and time of day, and light exposure. The content and location data are communicated to a Content Index Processor (CIP) that creates a database record from the location data and determines classifications for the database record that can be used by a person that is searching for particular multimedia content.

  • Patent number: 9953679
Abstract: Images may be extracted from a video. The images may be grouped into image groups. Numbers and types of classified visuals within the images may be detected. Individual types of classified visuals may correspond to individual classification weights. Image classification weights for the images may be determined based on the numbers and the types of classified visuals and the individual classification weights. Interest weights for the images may be determined based on the image classification weights and the sizes of the image groups to which the individual images belong. An interest curve may be generated based on the interest weights. A retime curve may be generated based on the interest curve. Time lapse images to be included in the time lapse video may be determined based on the images and the retime curve. The time lapse video may be generated based on the time lapse images.

  • Patent number: 9947365
Abstract: A movie editor converts a received movie into a proxy format, and creates a texture strip representing the frames of the movie. An editor can use the texture strip to edit the movie, rather than editing the movie directly. Deep tags and/or special effects can be defined for the texture strip using a graphical interface. The graphical interface enables movies to be combined into a playback product according to a control structure graphically presented in the graphical interface.

  • Patent number: 9940971
Abstract: A network editor comprises a central location with stored videos such as movies that can be edited by editors at remote locations. An editor receives a representation of a video, and specifies edits relative to the representation, enabling the editor to use a device lacking sufficient processing capability to edit the video directly, and also reducing the volume of information transmitted between the central location and the remote editor. The central location is able to provide the edited movie in a format suitable to the display capabilities of the viewing device of the viewer requesting the edited video.

  • Patent number: 9930296
Abstract: An image switching device for a vehicle includes: a reference distance determination device that determines a reference distance; and a determination device that prohibits an image display device from displaying an image captured by an on-board camera, based on a feature that a detection distance from an object to a vehicle is longer than the reference distance, and allows the image display device to display the image captured by the on-board camera, based on a feature that the detection distance is shorter than the reference distance. The reference distance determination device shortens the reference distance in a case where an absolute value of acceleration of the vehicle is a second value which is greater than a first value, compared to a case where the absolute value of acceleration of the vehicle is the first value.

  • Patent number: 9916867
Abstract: In one embodiment, a capture video is received that is captured during the playback of a trace video on a media player on a hardware platform. The capture video may be an external capture of a display of the trace video on the media player. To allow the external capture to be analyzed, the trace video may include visible codes on frames of the trace video that can be captured by a capture device. Particular embodiments analyze the frames of the capture video to extract identifiers associated with the visual codes on the frames. Events that occurred during playback are determined by analyzing a sequence of identifiers from the capture video to an expected sequence of identifiers from the trace video. Then, particular embodiments determine whether an API call from the media player was received that corresponds to the event while the media player was playing the trace video.

  • Patent number: 9911403
Abstract: Vocal audio of a user together with performance synchronized video is captured and coordinated with audiovisual contributions of other users to form composite duet-style or glee club-style or window-paned music video-style audiovisual performances. In some cases, the vocal performances of individual users are captured (together with performance synchronized video) on mobile devices, television-type display and/or set-top box equipment in the context of karaoke-style presentations of lyrics in correspondence with audible renderings of a backing track. Contributions of multiple vocalists are coordinated and mixed in a manner that selects for presentation, at any given time along a given performance timeline, performance synchronized video of one or more of the contributors. Selections are in accord with a visual progression that codes a sequence of visual layouts in correspondence with other coded aspects of a performance score such as pitch tracks, backing audio, lyrics, sections and/or vocal parts.

  • Patent number: 9912917
Abstract: A visualization apparatus for a surgical site includes a recording unit for recording an image of an object arranged in a focal plane of the recording unit. The recording unit has a lens having an optical axis that intersects the focal plane at a point P. An electronic image representation unit has an image surface for reproducing the recorded image and point P is reproduced at image point P?. A mirror unit has a mirror surface, which has a center point S and is arranged relative to the image surface such that the reproduced image is reflected by the mirror surface. The focal plane, image surface and mirror surface are arranged relative to one another such that an observation point B results for which the following applies: ?2 D<?1??2<+2 D; wherein: ?1=?1/d1 ?2=?1/d2 d1=distance PB d2=distance P?S+distance SB.

  • Patent number: 9870798
Abstract: Embodiments of a video management system and related methods for are disclosed. The video management system analyzes the user's movement while recording video to delimit video shots. For example, it interprets a “Shake to Cut” gesture, which would have the same effect as a movie director shouting “Cut!” on a movie set. The video management system also allows continuous interaction between a video shooter and other users while recording video. The video montages created with the video management system can be seen as integrating qualitative human judgment relating to meaning, storyline, emotion, etc. Video metadata collected with the video management system can also be used to facilitate interactions on scalable crowd-sourced social video-editing platforms. For example, any video montage created with the video management system could be modified and used as a video template, where other users keep all the video editing information but replace the video footage.

  • Patent number: 9818451
Abstract: A system and method for selecting portions of video data from preview video data is provided. The system may extract image features from the preview video data and discard video frames associated with poor image quality based on the image features. The system may determine similarity scores between individual video frames and corresponding transition costs and may identify transition points in the preview video data based on the similarity scores and/or transition costs. The system may select portions of the video data for further processing based on the transition points and the image features. By selecting portions of the video data, the system may reduce a bandwidth consumption, processing burden and/or latency associated with uploading the video data or performing further processing.
