  • Patent number: 5870849
Abstract: A non-stretchable wrapping device particularly suitable for tubular members having a smooth surface such as rod components of a rod and reel system, which would include a substantially planar member having first and second surfaces, with at least a portion of the first surface securable to a portion of the second surface of the planar member. A second portion of the second surface of the member would be covered with a non-slip rubber-like material with the rubberized-like material frictionally adhereable to the smooth surface of the tubular member such as a fishing rod, so that the planar member may be wrapped around the fishing rod, and the portion of the first surface would adhere to the portion of the second surface for maintaining the planar member tightly wrapped around the rod.

  • Patent number: 5867933
Abstract: A first embodiment of a planar board with strike indicator includes a base, a light source, a tip-up assembly, an actuation assembly, and a switch. An actuating fishing line release is pivotally connected to an plunger. A fishing line is retained by a front fishing line release, the actuating fishing line release, and a quick release guide. When a fish strikes the lure, the actuating fishing line release pivots away from the front fishing line release, the pole is released to display a flag, and the switch is closed to supply the light source with current from an electrical power source. In a second preferred embodiment, the planar board with strike indicator utilizes a pivotal arm instead of an actuation assembly. A second end of the pivotal arm retains the pole of until a fish strike rotates the pivotal arm against the spring force of an arm extension spring until the pole is released. When the pole is released, a switch closes and the light source emits light.

  • Patent number: 5862624
Abstract: A cage-like animal trap has a door mechanism at a front end of the trap which closes on an animal inside of the trap when the animal steps on an internal trip pan while going for bait positioned at the rear of the trap. The door mechanism has a main body panel pivoted to the roof of the trap and a reactor plate pivotally connected to the bottom edge of the body panel and urged away from the body panel by a spring. In the open position, the body panel and reactor plate are squeezed together and lie flat against the roof of the trap held in place by a hook-like trigger in the roof. When the trigger is released by an animal stepping on the trip pan, the body panel of the door is lowered by gravity and the reactor plate springs away from the body panel with its top edge sliding outwardly along the inside of the roof until it engages a stop at the front of the roof.

  • Patent number: 5862619
Abstract: The appearance of symmetrical lateral movement such as the flapping of a bird's wings is provided by a rotating vane which has a light side and a dark side. The vane is generally elliptical in shape and is divided into two blades. Each of the blades is curled about an axis which is generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the vane. Accordingly, rotation of the vane alternately shows the light and dark sides of the vane such that the light side of the vane appears from a distance to be moving along the axis of rotation about the center of the axis of rotation. The vane is rotatably attached to an animal decoy, such as a duck decoy, by a support. The curvature of the vane causes the vane to rotate in response to a wind force. During rotation, the top of the vane moves away from the head of the decoy and the bottom of the vane moves toward the head such that any lift generated by rotation of the vane is directed upwards to lift the decoy slightly out of the water rather than drive the decoy into the water.

  • Patent number: 5857281
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device designed to both store and dispense liquid scent, and, more particularly, to an animal liquid scent dispenser. The device includes a container having a generally hollow interior, a side wall, a closed end, an open end and a cover hingedly attached to the container. Within the container, a basket holds an absorbent body which retains the liquid scent. The basket is connected by tether to a fastening ring, which allows the device to be secured to an external object, such as a tree branch for support, when in use. The cover is provided to secure and seal the open end of the container to prevent loss of the scent or liquid. Alternatively, the cover may be removed from the container to permit scent to be released from the open end of the container.

  • Patent number: 5857953
Abstract: This invention pertains to draw tape equipment, and methods for incorporating draw tapes into plastic and like bags. In general, a continuous plastic web is slit at a slitting station to form layers, and respective free edges. The web then passes to a hole forming station where holes are punched in the top and bottom layers adjacent the free edges. After the holes are punched, edge regions of the top and bottom layers are separated from each other, followed by forming of hems in the separated layers at hem forming stations arranged in parallel with each other. Concurrent with forming of the hems, continuous draw tapes are fed to the hem forming stations and the hems are formed about the draw tapes. The formed hems, with the draw tapes incorporated therein, optionally pass through first temperature control stations where the temperature of the plastic web is controlled to a desired temperature before hem sealing. The formed hems are then sealed to the main bodies of the respective top and bottom layers.

  • Patent number: 5830118
Abstract: Longitudinally spaced pairs of laterally spaced openings are formed in a web of material prior to the web being folded into a pouch having a gusset bottom, the holes enabling the side panels of each pouch to be heat-sealed directly together at the side margins of the pouch and in the area of the gussets. To enable the lateral spacing between the openings of each pair to be easily changed and to enable the openings to be located extremely close to the longitudinal centerline of the web, the openings are formed by punches supported by separate punch frames which may be independently adjusted in a direction laterally of the web. The punch frames also are adjustable relative to one another in a direction longitudinally of the web in order to enable the machine to make pouches of various widths.

  • Patent number: 5829187
Abstract: A fly (insect) control program is implemented by the disclosed fly tape delivery system having source spool assembly and a take-up spool assembly, providing for fly tape to be extended between the two assemblies located at spaced apart locations with premises to be protected. Each spool assembly includes a hub and a reel adapted for being carried by the hub in selectively latched and unlatched positions, the reel of the source spool assembly providing a rolled length of fresh fly tape, and the reel of the take-up spool assembly providing a location for rolling up the fly tape after becoming coated with flies. When a reach of the fly tape is extended from the reel of the source spool assembly to the reel of the take-up spool assembly, tautness of the reach of tape is maintained by a latched relation of each spool assemblies which prevents the reel of each spool assembly is prevented from turning relative to the hub of the respective spool assembly.
