  • Patent number: 5577340
Abstract: A pair of mutually confronting fish hooks are spring-coupled at the shank ends thereof to define thereof a shielding loop which circumscribes the barbed and pointed ends of the hooks. Accordingly, the coupled hooks can be drawn through submerged obstructions without getting snagged on such. The so-coupled hooks are replacements for the barbed hooks of crankbaits, for example, and upon a fish striking the so modified crankbaits, the spring yields and exposes the barbed, pointed ends externally of the shielding loop. In an alternate embodiment, the spring-coupled or calipered hooks are confined within a sheathing, frog-simulating body, and in another embodiment, the hooks are sheathed in an expandable tube. Fish strikes, again, diminish the loop and dispose the barbed, pointed ends of the hooks at-the-ready for piercing the thin sheathing and lodging in the mouth of the fish.

  • Patent number: 5570534
Abstract: A fishing jig is disclosed for holding a fishing rod and moving the rod in an up and down motion in an oscillating manner. The rod is oscillated by an electric motor that drives a jigging wheel and lever arrangement via a gear assembly which is connected to the jigging wheel. Both the rate of oscillation and oscillation stroke may be varied. Upon a strike by a fish, the jig has a mechanism for quickly raising the rod in an upward direction with sufficient force to set the hook. The distance that the rod travels to set the hook also may be adjusted. In addition, the sensitivity of the jig can be adjusted with regard to both the amount of force that must be exerted upon the fishing rod holder as a result of a fish strike and the degree of travel which the rod holder must undergo, as a result of a fish strike to activate the hook set mechanism. The jig may also be coupled to an alarm that indicates activation of the hook set mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5570537
Abstract: This insecticidal cable has a pair or pairs of exposed electrical conductive wire for use in a fly control apparatus. An electronic control unit provides pulsed high voltage between the parallel exposed conductive wires. Insects which contact either one or both of the pair of conductive wires are killed by destruction of the insect nervous system. The cable both supports the conductive wires and holds them with the correct separation. The apparatus is used to destroy flies in stables, poultry houses, and other structures.

  • Patent number: 5566494
Abstract: An illuminated top water lure has a lure body including a generally cylindrical forward part and a generally conical rear part. The lower portion of the lure is substantially heavier than the hollow upper portion and has a depending rib which extends along the cylindrical front portion of the lure body. The forward end of the body is defined by a radially disposed lower part and an upper part which is inclined upwardly and forwardly from the lower part. A chemiluminscent light stick contained within a forwardly open bore in the lower portion of the lure body is retained therein by a radially expandable elastomeric well nut. A metal ball contained within a chamber defined by the upper portion is adapted to impinge upon the walls of the chamber to produce sound waves as the lure moves through the water.

  • Patent number: 5564212
Abstract: A self threading fishing rod needle wrapping device that includes a body portion, a jaw blade major projection, a jaw blade major projection paw, and a jaw blade minor projection paw. The jaw blade major projection extends smoothly from and is collinear with the body portion. The jaw blade major projection has a jaw blade major projection inner surface with a jaw blade major projection inner surface intermediate position. The jaw blade minor projection extends smoothly from and is collinear with the body portion. The jaw blade minor projection has a jaw blade minor projection inner surface with a jaw blade minor projection inner surface intermediate position. The jaw blade minor projection is disposed a distance from and substantially parallel to the jaw blade major projection and defines a jaw blade slot therebetween. • Patent number: 5562581
Abstract: The device has a rotating member including pulleys that and joined to a belt conveyor along which flat folded cases advance. Suction cups are mounted on shafts situated along the periphery of the rotary member and a coaxial drum, rotating in synchrony with the pulleys, carries the shafts which are made to oscillate by crank means. The drum also supports rocking levers which are in engagement with a cam and cause cranks to rotate. Further suction cups, situated at the outlet of the feeding line, are moved in phase relation with the previous suction cups between a gripping position, in which the suction cups grip a flat folded case on opposite sides, and a position in which adjacent wall panels of the case are opened. Belt conveyors receive the opened case and trail it along a packaging line.
