  • Patent number: 10897882
Abstract: A rod for repelling sharks is disclosed. Magnets are connected to the rod along its length. If necessary, the rod may be extended. Additionally, one or more flotation devices may be connected to the rod to manipulate or adjust the buoyancy of the system, depending on the user's objective(s). The rod is connected to a fishing line once a fish is hooked and is in close proximity to the boat or other structure from which the fisherman is fishing. The weight of the rod and magnets cause the rod to slide down to the end of the fishing line, where the rod will come in contact with the hooked mouth of the fish. As the fish struggles during the fight, the rod creates a protective magnetic field around the fish to deter sharks from engaging the fish.

  • Patent number: 10893671
Abstract: Systems, devices, and associated methods of manufacturing are described that provide a rodent extermination system for efficient rodent population control. An example rodent extermination system includes a vacuum unit configured to generate suction and an extermination chamber. The extermination chamber defines a first end attached to and in fluid communication with the vacuum unit and a second end in fluid communication with an external environment. The system also includes at least one presence sensor and at least two electrocution plates. The at least two electrocution plates are electrified such that the rodent is electrocuted via contact with the electrocution plates, and the vacuum unit generates suction such that the rodent is moved through the extermination chamber. The vacuum unit may comprise a kill plate into which the rodent is ejected at high velocity in order to induce cervical dislocation or blunt force trauma to the rodent.

  • Patent number: 10881087
Abstract: A method of harvesting crustaceans that utilizes a trap and buoy system, each trap being equipped with a digital camera and a light flash mechanism and being electrically connected to a buoy which has a wireless broadcast system to forward images received from the camera wirelessly to a further location that is equipped to receive the wirelessly transmitted image and to display the image to a human user. The method begins with laying out traps in the ocean, in a grid having a first grid spacing. Then for each trap, repeatedly lighting the trap with the flash mechanism and forming an image with the digital camera and sending the image to the further location. Then monitoring the images. Finally, in reliance on the images deciding to begin laying out traps in a grid, having a second grid spacing that is tighter than the first grid spacing, around a particular trap.

  • Patent number: 10881094
Abstract: An insect vacuum and trap attachment system can include a tubular member having an elongate channel that extends along an outer surface of the tubular member. The system can also include a suction member that slideably receives the tubular member. The suction member can have a narrowed open tip that receives insects and a stem that extends along at least an outer surface of the suction member. The stem can be slideably received by the elongate channel to enable the suction member to slide with respect to the tubular member. The system can include a catch that protrudes from the stem. The catch may be arranged and configured to receive a portion of an insect filter pod and thereby couple the insect filter pod between the tubular member and the suction member.

  • Patent number: 10881092
Abstract: An offshore fishing apparatus aligns properly, is light weight, and is consistently adjustable by the user to their desired tension for smooth release of their fishing line when a fish strikes or when any force overcomes the applied tension placed on the fishing line release arm. The device further includes a proximal beveled entry and exit including a pivot ball with an aperture, through which a kite or connection line is run through. The pivot ball allows the device to pivot in the direction the fishing line moves. The device is advantageously light weight, in part due to lightweight materials used to construct the device without reducing the device's performance.

  • Patent number: 10863735
Abstract: A waterfowl decoy which can be used in water and on land. The waterfowl decoy requires no additional components to be removed or added to convert the decoy from use in water to use on land. The decoy includes stakes which rotate about axles fitted to a keel on the decoy. The stakes can be rotated or unfolded from the keel so that they point generally downward. The stakes may then be pushed into the ground to secure the decoy on land. Alternatively, if it is desired to use the decoy in the water, the stakes may be rotated or folded up into the keel where they are stored. The decoy can then be placed in the water where it can float without interference from the stakes.

  • Patent number: 10856538
Abstract: A lure strike indicating assembly for preventing obstruction of rod guides includes an indicator, a filament, and a coupler. The filament is coupled to and extends between the indicator and the coupler. The coupler is configured to slidably couple to a fishing line. A fastener is coupled to the indicator. The fastener is configured to selectively couple to the coupler and the fishing line so that the indicator is fixedly positioned relative to a lure that is coupled to an end of the fishing line. The fastener also is configured to decouple from the coupler and the fishing line in the event of a strike on the lure. The coupler is slidably positionable relative to the lure to prevent the indicator from obstructing a guide on a tip of a fishing rod to which the fishing line is coupled as the fishing line is retracted into a reel.

  • Patent number: 10842140
Abstract: A fishing lure system includes an elongated body with a front end and a tail end; a weight, embedded within the tail end of the body; a hook, located at the tail end and having a shank, connecting the hook to the top of the body, and a barb, connected to the shank and extended above the body; an inverted bill, secured at the front end of the body at a connection point and extending substantially upward from the connection point on the body; a line attachment point, secured at the head end of the body and below the inverted bill; the tension applied by the line causes the tail end to rise, positioning the body in a horizontal position mimicking the movement of a natural prey; the release of tension by the line allow the tail end to fall, causing the body to become substantially vertical; and the inverted bill causes resistance when the tail end falls, slowing the fall to further mimic the movement of natural prey such as a crawfish.

  • Patent number: 10813348
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for adjusting the buoyancy of a fishing bobber. The method includes providing a buoyant member and a stem guide configured to receive the buoyant member, mounting the buoyant member to the stem guide and cutting the buoyant member. The buoyant member is made of a material capable of being severed by a cutting device and having first length, a lower end, and an upper end. The stem guide receives the buoyant member and a fishing line with fishing tackle. The buoyant member is cut such that the buoyant member has a second length shorter than the first length. The buoyant member is cut to a second length such that the buoyancy of the buoyant member when cut to a second length is enough to oppose the tendency of the stem guide and fishing tackle to submerse the buoyant member such that a top surface of the cut buoyant member is adjacent to the surface of the water when the stem guide, buoyant member, fishing line and any fishing tackle are placed in the water.
