  • Patent number: 5927757
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner hose assembly has a corrugated, flexible hose with fittings at opposite ends for connection to the vacuum cleaner suction inlet and to a cleaning head. A tube or cable extends along the assembly for supply of cleaning fluid or electrical power to the cleaning head. The tube or cable is retained with the hose by means of a U-shape channel provided as a separate member bonded to the outside of the hose. The tube or cable extends within the channel as a loose fit so that it can move along the channel on flexing of the hose, thereby helping maintain flexibility of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 5927759
Abstract: A connection assembly for an exhaust extraction system which is designed to vent the exhaust from a vehicle tail pipe includes, in combination, three primary components. The first component is an annular sleeve which is constructed and arranged to assemble onto the vehicle tail pipe. A band clamp is used for this connection in order to establish a leak-free interface. Next, there is a nozzle locator ring which slides onto the annular sleeve such that one end of the sleeve extends beyond one side of the nozzle locator ring and the opposite end of the sleeve extends beyond the opposite side of the nozzle locator ring. There is an offset portion intermediate the ends of the annular sleeve which serves as an abutment for the nozzle locator ring.

  • Patent number: 5921588
Abstract: A push-in coupling for pipes contains a sleeve body (2) and a holding means, especially with a clamping body (6), for connecting a pipe end (3, 4) to the sleeve body (2). This push-in coupling permits proper handling with little effort during assembly, and insofar as possible prevents the danger of faulty assembly. A sliding body (50) is disposed within the sleeve body (2), the sliding body (50) being made independently of the holding means. The sliding body (50) contains a striker (52) which upon insertion of the pipe end (3, 4) is pushed over an edge (60), and upon reaching a given depth of insertion of the pipe end (3, 4) strikes against a surface (62) producing a detectable signal such as an acoustical signal and/or a vibration signal.

Abstract: A pipe connecting assembly and method for joining two lengths of steel pipe in the field without the need for welding the connection includes a pair of tubular members both having cylindrical exterior and interior surfaces that substantially conform to the exterior and interior surfaces of the two lengths of steel pipe. At one end of one of the tubular members a male connector is formed. The male connector has a plurality of annular flat and tapered ridges and flat annular surfaces formed thereon. At one end of the other tubular member a female connector is formed. The female connector has a plurality of flat annular ridges and tapered and flat surfaces formed thereon. In employing the tubular members in connecting the two lengths of steel pipe, the ends of the members opposite the male and female connectors are first welded to opposed ends of the steel pipe.

  • Patent number: 5918914
Abstract: The invention provides a method for sealing and locking together interconnectable pipe for industrial, commercial and other uses. The sealed locking joint is comprised of the smaller end of one pipe, spigot end, which is inserted into the larger end of the receiving pipe, bell end. A sealing gasket and a corresponding locking gasket are utilized to retain the pipe in its assembled position and prevent leakage of material at the joint. Alternatively, a sleeve may be utilized into which is inserted the spigot ends of the pipe, said sleeve having positioned within it sealing gaskets and locking gaskets similar to the configuration utilized in the bell end of the alternate assembly.

  • Patent number: 5911444
Abstract: An air pressure actuated stop assembly (50) is disposed in at least one of first and second rotatably engaging housings of a coupling assembly (10), the housings (14) being affixed to ends of respective associated hoses 70) to complete an air passageway (24) therebetween when coupled. Each housing (14) has a portion with an exterior surface adjacent an interior surface of a complementary portion of the other housing (14) and rotatably slidable therealong during coupling and uncoupling of the assembly (10). The stop assembly (50) includes a spring biased pin (52) that moves when actuated by air pressure in the air brake hose (70) to a position to obstruct the path traveled by the portion of the opposite housing (14) in a direction uncoupling the two housings (14) thereby preventing rotational uncoupling of the housings (14) when the air brake system is pressurized. The pin (52) is automatically retracted when the air pressure is released thus permitting the housings (14) to be uncoupled.
