  • Patent number: 8027496
Abstract: Hearing aid fitted with a central processing unit (1) having peripherals (3E, 3A) connected to its input and output respectively. Each peripheral includes an identification unit (5) having an the output connected to a first input of a comparator (9). A second input of the comparator is connected to a read-only identification memory (11) containing identification features of the peripherals. An output of the comparator drives a configuration memory (15). As a result, the hearing aid self-identifies its current configuration based on the identification of the peripherals.

  • Patent number: 8027444
Abstract: A call tones management platform provides a facility for configuration of a user profile. The user profile specifies the circumstances under which organizational call tones (such as a call tone of an employer of the subscriber using the phone) or a personal, non-organizational tone should be rendered to a calling party. When a call is placed to the subscriber, the profile is consulted and an instruction for rendering a call tone in accordance with the profile is sent to a call tones content provider or run time site generating call tones during the time of a call. The call tones management platform implements logic for resolving potential scheduling conflicts between organizational call tones and private call tones, such as, for example, a rule in which the organizational call tone trumps personal call tones for calls are made to the subscriber telephone during business hours.

  • Patent number: 8024056
Abstract: An external amplifier and a noise removing method thereof are disclosed. When an audio output inputted to the external amplifier is changed from a first mode to a second mode, channel status information is set to the second mode and no data of the audio output is outputted in the second mode for a predetermined period of time. Therefore, it is possible to remove noise that is generated in the external amplifier when the audio output mode is changed, thereby preventing speaker damage.

  • Patent number: 8024055
Abstract: Techniques for controlling one or more audio amplifiers in or associated with a device coupled on a local area network are disclosed. The device receives at least one selected source from other devices also coupled on the network According to one aspect of the techniques, an automatic shutdown control module is provided in the device to power down the audio amplifiers when there is no audio data flow coming to the device or power up the audio amplifiers when there is audio data flow coming to the device. In one embodiment, the procedure to power down or power up the amplifiers is in accordance with a hysteresis, wherein the hysteresis, being lagging of an effect behind its cause, protects the amplifiers and makes the powering-down or powering-up procedure unnoticeable to a user.

  • Patent number: 8019450
Abstract: Audio data are played back by a personal computer a relationship with a playback process recognized easily. Displays showing the contents of play lists are arranged and displayed so that the contents become continuous in sequence in a playback sequence from content that is currently being played back from a display of an operation element that causes an image of a playback process to appear or from a display showing the content which is currently being played back. When the playback of one piece of content of one play list from among a plurality of play lists is terminated and one piece of content of an other play list is played back, at least the content that is currently being played back and content to be subsequently played back are displayed so that the contents can be distinguished.

  • Patent number: 8019101
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a condenser microphone with a microphone housing cap with a sound inlet opening, a microphone housing with a cross-sectional opening facing the microphone housing cap, and a diaphragm resting along the cross-sectional opening on the front side of the microphone housing surrounding the cross-sectional opening, and a counter-electrode which faces this diaphragm and which is arranged at a short distance from the diaphragm. The invention is further directed to a corresponding method for producing a condenser microphone of this kind. The invention provides an improved condenser microphone and an improved method for producing such a condenser microphone so that the disadvantages of the prior art are overcome while reducing manufacturing-related resources and, therefore, costs at the same time in that the diaphragm of the condenser microphone is glued to the microphone housing in an angle area between the underside of the diaphragm and the outer side of the microphone housing.

  • Patent number: 8019091
Abstract: Acoustic noise suppression is provided in multiple-microphone systems using Voice Activity Detectors (VAD). A host system receives acoustic signals via multiple microphones. The system also receives information on the vibration of human tissue associated with human voicing activity via the VAD. In response, the system generates a transfer function representative of the received acoustic signals upon determining that voicing information is absent from the received acoustic signals during at least one specified period of time. The system removes noise from the received acoustic signals using the transfer function, thereby producing a denoised acoustic data stream.

  • Patent number: 7995771
Abstract: A system and method for generating a beamforming signal is disclosed. A beam forming signal is generated by disposing a first microphone and a second microphone in horizontal coplanar alignment. The first and second microphones are used to detect a known signal to generate a first response and a second response. The first response is processed along a first signal path communicatively linked to the first microphone, and the second response is processed along a second signal path communicatively linked to the second microphone. The first and second responses are matched, and the matched responses are combined to generate the beamforming signal on a combined signal path.
