Abstract: A method includes receiving a current set of characters in response to a sequence of user commands. The current set of characters includes a current sequence of words. A respective word in the current sequence of words includes one or more characters in the current set of characters. The user commands include character entry commands. Additional user commands that specify characters to delete from the current set of characters and characters to add to the current set of characters are received. Replay recommendations for additional words to be added to the current set of characters in accordance with one or more deleted words that correspond to the deleted characters are provided.

Abstract: In an information providing system, a virtual three-dimensional space is established by an information management server. A user of a mobile communication terminal moves in the virtual space, and browses, posts, and searches message information items by manipulating an avatar. The information management server manages the message information items and responds to searches requested from mobile communication terminals. The information management server specifies an area where the number of message information items relevant to a search word specified by a user of a mobile communication terminal is equal to or greater than a predetermined number. The information management server outputs a guide information item for indicating a direction or route toward the specified area from the position of an avatar. Based on the guide information item, the mobile communication terminal displays an image of an arrow pointing a direction or route toward the specified area as a target area.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are provided. The mobile terminal comprises a wireless communication unit, a display (151) configured to display an image, and a controller configured to display a first input area overlapping with at least part of the image in response to a first touch applied to the display (151) and to transmit data based on a touch trace corresponding to a second touch of a user, which is acquired through the displayed first input area, to a client terminal (200, 300) including one or more other terminals through the wireless communication unit in real time, the first input area having translucent property to allow the overlap image to be recognized. According to the present invention, data corresponding to a touch applied to an input area can be transmitted to a client terminal to achieve each data exchange.

Abstract: Disclosed are several methods, apparatus, and a system to create, expose, and hide embedded secondary content data relevant to a primary content page of an electronic book generated by a content generating device. The method, system, and apparatus is enabled through a Y-axis slide apart gesture that is applied to a notification region of the primary content page such that the secondary content data is made visible when the Y-axis slide apart gesture is applied to the notification region. The method, system, and apparatus is also enabled through a Y-axis pinch close gesture that is applied to a boundary of an exposed pane that is appearing in the primary content page such that the Y-axis pinch close gesture collapses the exposed pane in which the secondary content data is made visible. In one embodiment, the system comprises an association server, an electronic book distribution server, and a content rendering device.

Abstract: A system, a computer readable storage medium including programs, and a computer-implemented method for displaying objects in a graphical user interface of a device are described. A vision test is presented in the graphical user interface of the device, the vision test including vision test objects used to test a visual acuity level of a user of the device. Input is received from the user identifying the user's ability to see at least one vision test object in the vision test. Display settings corresponding to the input received from the user are identified. Objects in the graphical user interface are displayed based on the display settings.

Abstract: A scrolling method and apparatus devices having display screens such as a mobile terminal. When a first image on a screen cannot be moved in a direction by a touch input, a region of the first image is modified in response to the touch input and the modified image is subsequently restored to the first image after the touch is released or a preset amount of time passes. The modification of the region of the image provides an indication that is fed back to the user so that the end or last part of the image is displayed and cannot be moved further, so that undesired repetitive touch input can be prevented.

Abstract: A device may receive information that identifies a first attribute and a second attribute associated with media files, and the first and second attributes may specify a manner in which the media files are to be represented on a user interface. The device may present, on the user interface and based on the first attribute and the second attribute, a representation of the media files on a grid. A first dimension of the grid may be associated with the first attribute, and a second dimension on the grid may be associated with the second attribute. The device may receive a selection of a portion of the grid corresponding to a set of media files, and may create a playlist, based on receiving the selection, that includes the set of media files.

Abstract: A method and device for enhancing scrolling operations in a display of a device is disclosed. The method includes detecting a scrolling operation on a list of objects in a linear direction. During the scrolling operation, it is determined whether the list of objects is reaching an end and at least one object at the end of the list of objects is extended in the linear direction in response to reaching the end of the list of objects. Further, the method includes determining that the object(s) is reaching a peak length of extension in the linear direction and retracting the object(s) in a reverse linear direction in response to reaching the peak length or in response to detecting that the scrolling operation is terminated.

Abstract: An electronic whiteboard may be used alone or in a virtual environment. The electronic whiteboard has a palate of tools that enable users to quickly draw shapes on the whiteboard. Rather than using perfectly drawn shapes, however, the palate renders shapes that are not quite perfect—rectangles that are not quite square, lines that are not quite straight—to prevent users from focusing on getting the drawings perfect. This lends an informal feeling to the resulting drawings to allow the drawings to more closely simulate how drawings would appear on a traditional whiteboard. Similarly, text is rendered using a scripted font rather than type font to make words on the whiteboard appear to be hand-written. The electronic whiteboard enables users to add notes and to vote on objects. Automatic vote counting and note management is provided. Use of the whiteboard may be recorded to enable sessions to be replayed and snapshots to be obtained.

Abstract: Presenting a user interface in a computing system, where device-specific information is added to data defined generically with respect to a particular device or presentation technology. The generic definition can be provided via template representing data and functionality of a user interaction, which is presented to a user in a specific way on a specific user interface. A class can be derived in the user interface from the template and instantiated with data in accordance with particulars of a data type. Data can be presented via instructions representing basic presentation patterns defining how data is to be presented on a user interface. Identifications of the instructions are matched to instructions to generate instructions specific to a presentation environment.

Abstract: Various systems and methods for adaptively modifying a user interface are described. One embodiment is a method performed in a multimedia playback system for adaptively modifying a user interface. The method comprises receiving, by the multimedia playback system, multimedia content and displaying the multimedia content. The method further comprises generating, by a user interface generator, one or more controls displayed in conjunction with the multimedia content, identifying, by an object detector, a target object in a field of view of a video capture device coupled to the multimedia playback system, and predicting, by a selection predictor, a next selection of one of the one or more controls based on a path defined by the target object. The method further comprises displaying, by the user interface generator, a virtual pointer representing the target object in a vicinity of the predicted next selection of the one or more controls.

Abstract: In a method for computer-aided transfer of data from a document application into a data application having a set of data fields, a document is displayed in the document application opened on a computer with a display device, and wherein from the document data are to be transferred into the data application also opened on the computer. A name of a data field into which data are to be transferred is displayed on the display device. Via identification of a corresponding data value in the document on the display device, a character string representing the data value is automatically read out from the document and entered into the data field corresponding to the data field name in the data application via actuation of a predetermined button.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for a region brander configured to uniformly apply branding (i.e graphical modifications) upon both content data and application data to effectuate a seamless branding of an entire region of a graphical user interface (GUI). The region brander defines a hierarchy relationship between content and a branding extension (i.e. embedded modification information) with respect to a region in a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The region brander further defines a master region in the GUI to apply the hierarchy relationship to display the content and the branding extension in the master region. A slave region in the GUI can also be defined to apply the hierarchy relationship in order to: (i) display, in the slave region, the branding extensions related to content selected in the master region, and (ii) display episodic content related to content selected in the master region.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing an advertisement in a sidebar, and/or in a slidesheet associated with an application module displayed in the sidebar. The advertisement is targeted to the sidebar user based upon user specific information maintained by a content provider. The user specific information can comprise, sidebar application information, user preference information, shared user information and other information associated with the user that can be used to select an advertisement targeted to the user. An advertisement displayed in a slidesheet can be selected based upon user information and/or the functionality provided by the application module associated with the slidesheet.
