  • Patent number: 5014960
Abstract: A fore-and-aft suspension device for an automotive seat, in which the seat lower base frame of said seat is movable forwardly and backwardly along a guide rail, and a shaft extends between the seat lower base frame and guide rail, with a pair of coil springs being wound around the shaft. A spring abutment member is also provided between the seat lower base frame and guide rail, such that those coil springs are at their respective ends abutted against both sides of the spring abutment member. Thus, a forward and backward load or jolting applied to the seat is smoothly transmitted, via such seat lower base frame, to the the coil springs, which are then compressed at the spring abutment member, absorbing the forward and backward load or jolting.

  • Patent number: 4915340
Abstract: A power seat apparatus includes a seat driving mechanism for supporting a seat member. Upon adjustment of the position of the seat member, the rotational torque is transmitted to the seat driving mechanism via a cable which passes through a protection tube. For decreasing the friction between the cable and the protection tube, the cable is covered with another tube made of heat-shrinkable synthetic resin or is coated with synthetic resin.

  • Patent number: 4907706
Abstract: There is disclosed a storage and handling system for large flexible sheets such as printing plates. The system includes a rack which is of generally conventional construction having upright end standards or vertical posts that suspend at least one horizontal shelf. The shelf is provided with a plurality of horizontal tracks, each of which has a central, open channel along its bottom surface, to provide a slide receptacle. A T-bar is slidably and removably mounted in the open channel of each of these tracks. The T-bar has a plurality of apertures which are spaced, preferably at regular and predetermined distances, through its upright flange. These apertures receive removable two-ended hooks. The opposite ends of the hooks are inserted in apertures along one side edge of each of the printing plates.

  • Patent number: 4896859
Abstract: To reliably reduce the risk of injury in the return tilting of a mirror housing from a tilted end position into a position for normal use, the mirror housing initially swings against an overcomable stop, which ensures a safety distance between the lifted mirror housing edge and the mirror base. This safety distance is dimensioned such that a trapping of fingers between the mirror housing edge and the mirror base does not occur. The stop can only be overcome by the mirror housing by renewed application of force to the mirror housing, after which the mirror housing then tilts into the position for normal use.

  • Patent number: 4893774
Abstract: A recliner mechanism is disclosed for rotating an automobile vehicle seat with respect to the automobile floor. The recliner mechanism comprises a first plate member that is constrained from rotating relative to the vehicle floor and a second plate member that is selectively lockable with said first plate member. The second plate member is rotatable relative to the vehicle floor when it is unlocked from the first plate member and the seat is attached to the second plate member to rotate with the second plate member. An actuator handle is pivotally connected to the second plate member so as to rotate with the second plate member and the vehicle seat. The actuator member actuates an arrangement of linkages to lock and unlock the second plate member relative to the first plate member. Since the actuator handle is connected to the rotating second plate member, the handle will rotate with the seat and second plate member and thus be easily accessible even at the new seat position.

  • Patent number: 4889303
Abstract: A retainer arm for use in supporting an object above a base member is disclosed. The retainer arm may include a smooth walled tubular elongate housing which defines a hollow channel in the interior thereof. A metal core formed by one or more strands is housed within the channel. An end section is mounted on each of the opposing ends of the housing, thereby compacting the metal wire within the housing. The core and shaft are manually bendable but of sufficient rigidity to retain the configuration imparted thereto by the bending while also supporting an object mounted on an end of that arm.

  • Patent number: 4880200
Abstract: A ladder bracket for supporting a ladder on buildings during construction work has a pair of parallel side rails connected by transverse struts. Aligned end portions of the side rails are curved about a circular radius into hook members for engagement with a rung of a ladder to be supported. In a first embodiment, opposite ends of the side rails are each provided with three keyhole shaped apertures arranged in a triangular array. In use, the side rails are secured on an intended work surface by nails driven temporarily through the keyhole shaped apertures. In a second embodiment, a pair of securement tabs are connected by hinges to outer side edges of each of the side rails. Driven fasteners are captured within a cylindrical boss provided on each of the securement tabs. The securement tabs are pivotally mounted by the hinges and thus the driven fasteners may be secured to a variety of different intended working surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4875592
Abstract: A drying rack for drying wet cloths, such as towels and washcloths. A substantially rectangular enclosure is provided having a pair of openings that are laterally spaced from each other, and a curved drying surface extends between the openings. The enclosure includes a drip pan for catching and collecting water that drips from wet cloths that lie on the drying surface. The drip pan is removable from the enclosure for discarding the collected water, and a screen is positioned within the enclosure between the drying surface and the drip pan to prevent cloths from falling into the drip pan, while permitting water to pass therethrough. In one form of the invention a towel dispenser is provided on one side of the enclosure, and the towel dispenser is adapted to receive and contain a stack of dry cloths ready for use. In another form of the invention a removable used cloth enclosure is provided that can be selectively attached next to and removed from attachment relative to the clean towel holder.

  • Patent number: 4874026
Abstract: A vehicle window screen assembly selectively and alternately operable to cover or uncover a vehicle window. The assembly includes a first flexible screen for blocking at least a portion of light impinging thereon, and a spring-loaded, generally cylindrical roller about which the screen is wrapped with a free end exposed, the roller being mountable at its ends on a side of the window to be covered so that when the free end of the screen is pulled toward the opposite side of the window, the roller rotates to unwind the screen and when the free end is released, the roller retracts and rolls up the screen. A screen positioning device is attached to the free end of the screen and is controllable to selectively pull the screen toward the opposite side of the window to substantially cover it, or to release the screen to allow it to be retracted and rolled up on the roller.

  • Patent number: 4869309
Abstract: In venetian blinds, a combination of a louver clip and a louver sleeve for supporting a louver. The louver sleeve has a cylindrical opening with an obstrusion on the lower part of its periphery having a cross-section in the form of a segment. The louver clip comprises a shank and a stem on top of the shank. The stem is adapted to be introduced in the sleeve. The stem has a longitudinal axial flat adapted to match the flat side of the obstrusion. The stem is provided with an aperture in its upper portion extending through the axial flat. An anchor tab extends from the top of the stem and projects downwardly in the aperture and angularly so as to project outside the contour of the stem. When the stem is introduced in the sleeve, the tab catches the top surface of the obstrusion, which acts as a support for the stem. The advantage of this combination resides in the fact that if the shank breaks away from the stem, another clip is used to push the broken stem out of the sleeve.
