    Abstract: A graft for augmentation rhinoplasty, the graft including bone tissue and cartilage tissue, and a method of performing augmentation rhinoplasty by using the graft are disclosed. According to the disclosure, autologous tissue for augmentation rhinoplasty can be obtained in a sufficient amount to so that a nose can be uplifted to a desired height. In addition, rhinoplasy can be easily performed, resulting in a naturally-shaped nose. As the osseous tissue is grafted on the originally existing osseous tissue and cartilage tissue is grafted on the originally existing cartilage, the construction of the original anatomical structure of the nose can be allowed and there is an effect that there is no side effect such as a foreign body reaction.

The engineered lamina propria is made by seeding and culturing human vocal fold fibroblasts within a polymerized collagen scaffold, and the engineered squamous epithelium is made by culturing human vocal fold epithelial cells on the scaffold surface. The resulting engineered vocal fold mucosa is not immunogenic, and is capable of exhibiting the vibratory function and acoustic output of a native vocal fold mucosa. Accordingly, the engineered vocal fold mucosa may be implanted into the larynx to treat voice impairment.

    Abstract: An implantable ophthalmic device with flexible, fluid-filled membranes provide dynamically variable optical power to restore lost accommodation in individuals suffering from presbyopia or aphakia without moving parts or reducing the amount of transmitted light. Actuating the device causes the fluid-filled membrane to change curvature, which produces a corresponding change in optical power. For instance, squeezing the edge of the membrane causes the center of the membrane to bulge by an amount proportional to the squeezing force. Alternatively, heating or applying a voltage to the membrane may cause the liquid in the membrane to undergo a phase transition accompanied by a corresponding change in volume that causes the membrane to inflate so as to change the optical power of the device.
