  • Patent number: 6481158
Abstract: A security grill adapted to securely close off a window or door but which may be manually released from within the building and allowing egress through the window while maintaining security and preventing unauthorized access from the exterior of the building. The grill is attached along one side by hinges and is lockable in position by a locking device on an opposite side. The locking device being a keyed dead bolt, which protrudes into a rapid release mechanism secured and shielded in the surrounding frame, which is secured by bolts to the building. The grill being spring biased to the open position with the release mechanism operable from inside the building also biased for rapid release.

  • Patent number: 6478070
Abstract: A retractable screen apparatus having an upper bracketing component and a lower bracketing component mounted to the upper and lower portions of an opening respectively. Each bracketing component has a connection portion that is connected to upper and lower connection regions of a substantially vertical screen dispenser. A handle attached to the screen of the screen dispenser displaces the screen to a retracted position where the upper and lower laterally extended edges of the screen are contained in slideways in the upper and lower bracketing components. A connection system employing a double threaded screw allows the apparatus to be retrofitted to existing door moldings having a regular shaped surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6474396
Abstract: An open mesh is adapted for use as the upper portion of a cubicle curtain. The open mesh has a major portion with openings, and a narrow and a wide selvedge. The open mesh major portion has said integral narrow knitted selvedge on an edge opposed to said integral wide knitted selvedge. The selvedges have a substantially finer mesh than the open mesh major portion. The open mesh is knitted in multiple adjoining panels. Adjoining panels are connected with in order a first narrow selvedge, an intermediate strip comprising a tear thread, a waste strip and an open mesh relief band, and a second narrow selvedge. The selvedges are thus made integral with the major open cell portion and are ready without further manufacturing steps (except for separating from a roll and for sizing) for the insertion of grommets in the wide selvedge and the sewing to a vision-resistant fabric at the narrow selvedge with the narrow selvedge retaining a straight outer edge due to use of the relief band during sizing on a pin frame.

  • Patent number: 6474395
Abstract: A process for producing roller blinds includes defining a plurality of shapes for the completed roller blind in a continuous material band. The band has a uniform width and edges of the roller blind are defined between the longitudinal edges of the material band. Separating strips are defined in the material band between adjacent edges of the devices. The individual devices are removed from the continuous material band by separating the material band along the separating strips.

  • Patent number: 6474394
Abstract: A cordless, balanced venetian blind or shade with a constant, or a variable force spring motor includes conventional window covering components without the outside hanging lifting cords or cord locking mechanisms. One or more spring motors are employed. A cord spool, in the preferred embodiment, is coupled to one of the spring drums to serve to wind the cords to cause the blind to be raised or lowered, simply by manipulation of the bottom bar of the blind system. Due to the spring forces, the system compensates for the increasing weight on the cords as the window covering is raised and for the decreasing weight as it is lowered.

  • Patent number: 6470951
Abstract: A structure of a blind adjustment is operated by a rail and a shaft, and comprises a leading screw, a sliding seat, two confining parts, two adjustors and a housing. The leading screw is sleeved onto the shaft and having its two ends insert through connecting ends of the housing, respectively. The sliding seat and the confining parts are both threaded sleeved onto the leading screw and accommodating in the housing. The sliding seat will be linked by rotation of the leading screw to move whereas the two confining parts are designed to rotate without moving, thus upon one post of the sliding seat reaches to a protuberance of one of the confining part, the rotation of the sliding seat is blocked which then confines movement of the adjustor to adjust the height or angle of the blind.

  • Patent number: 6457509
Abstract: A hanger pin for a vertical vane covering for an architectural opening includes a new and improved symmetric headrail having uniquely designed carriers for suspending individual vanes wherein the carriers are designed to minimize skewing relative to a tilt rod as they are moved along the headrail. A pantograph system is utilized to interconnect the carriers, and is connected to the carriers in alignment with the tilt rod so as to minimize skewing. The carriers have pockets formed therein through which the traverse cord extends so that the traverse cord, which moves the carriers along the tilt rod, is secured to a lead carrier closely adjacent to the tilt rod to, again, minimize skewing. Light blocking rails are also attachable to the headrail to substantially bridge the gap between the headrail and the top of the suspended vanes to prevent light from passing therebetween. The tilt rod is keyed to gears in the carriers to facilitate assembly of the control system with all vanes properly aligned.

  • Patent number: 6439292
Abstract: A rolling door is provided with a flexible door panel which can be wound upon a winding shaft pivoted above the door opening and provided with a drive. On the bottom end of the door panel, a stop rail of length less than clear span between side sections limiting door opening, is provided at two ends with fastening for wires running over pulleys supported in a bottom region and bracing the door panel. In the side sections, slide-like blocks are guided vertically slidably, detachably connected to the ends of the stop rail by a retainer and provided with breakthroughs for the wires running from the pulleys in the bottom region to the stop rail. To restore the rolling door to operation simply and where possible even automatically after a crash, the retainer is constituted by locking devices which release the stop rail in the event of force acting thereon from the side and which, when the blocks are pressed on from above, again interlock the stop rail and blocks.
