Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for providing meeting roster awareness for participants in a conference. An example system configured to practice this method can first identify participants in a conference, and retrieve, from a source external to the conference, information describing relationships between the participants. Then the system can compute, based on the information, a relationship graph assigning a relationship strength for at least two of the participants. The system provides an indication of the relationship strength to one of the participants, such as providing an indication of relationships of which other participants are not aware. Sources external to the conference can include a social network, a communication history, an organizational chart, a directory, or group membership, for example.

  • Patent number: 9471206
Abstract: A facility modeling system renders graphical representations of machines and their environment in a facility model to facilitate monitoring of machine parameters and health. A sensor control module communicates with a plurality of sensors detecting machine parameter data for machines housed in a facility. The machine parameters may include any information that may directly or indirectly indicate the status of a machine or a part of a machine. The information collected from the sensors is incorporated into the facility model (a graphical rendering of the facility) which may provide any of a variety of multi-dimensional views of the facility. A GUI allows a user to navigate through the facility model to identify and monitor the status of the sensors. The sensor status may be indicated by an icon, callout, change in a display characteristic of a facility, machine, part, space, or item, a combination of these, and the like.

  • Patent number: 9459758
Abstract: A method includes presenting, on a display coupled to a computer, an image of a keyboard comprising multiple keys, and receiving a sequence of three-dimensional (3D) maps including a hand of a user positioned in proximity to the display. An initial portion of the sequence of 3D maps is processed to detect a transverse gesture performed by a hand of a user positioned in proximity to the display, and a cursor is presented on the display at a position indicated by the transverse gesture. While presenting the cursor in proximity to the one of the multiple keys, one of the multiple keys is selected upon detecting a grab gesture followed by a pull gesture followed by a release gesture in a subsequent portion of the sequence of 3D maps.

  • Patent number: 9432424
Abstract: Presented herein is a method of blocking user-selected media content, such as, for example, audio and/or video content. In the method, at least one media content stream is presented to a user, wherein the at least one media content stream includes multiple showings of an identifiable contiguous segment of media content. One example of such a segment may be a commercial or advertisement. While presenting a current showing of the segment of media content to the user, a command is received from a user to block the segment of media content from presentation to the user. In response to receiving the command, information identifying the segment of media content is generated. The at least one media content stream is analyzed using the information to detect subsequent showings of the segment of media content. Presentation of at least one of the subsequent showings of the segment of media content is prevented when detected in the at least one media content stream.

  • Patent number: 9424560
Abstract: In a multiday view of a calendar, a time indicator is shown adjacent to a graphical element for the current day. In the multiday view, such a time indicator accurately indicates the current time on the current day, but not on other days of the week. If the current day is not viewable, the time indicator is not shown. By being adjacent to the graphical element for the current day, the time indicator does not obscure information, such as events, for the current day.

  • Patent number: 9424001
Abstract: A creation, editing, and display tool for complex diagrams may enable portions of the diagram to be updated without having to update the entire diagram. The tool may use a set of rules that define the positioning and layout of various elements and relationships between elements in the diagram. The update mechanism may enable the rules to be applied to a subset of the diagram and may not update some portions of the diagram, such as those elements outside the viewing area. In some embodiments, a background or low priority process may apply the rules to those portions not updated. The tool may be used for various diagrams, including sequence diagrams and other complex, highly restrained diagram types.

  • Patent number: 9417703
Abstract: Apparatuses (1) for controlling elements (40-70) possibly shown on screens (31) or items (71) possibly represented by the elements (70) comprise detectors (11-13) for detecting features of objects (2) such as body parts in first and second dimensions and converters (14) for converting first features into actions for the elements (40-70) or the items (71). By making the actions dependent on second features, a number of possibilities is increased. First features may be movements of the objects (2) and second features may be absolute or relative positions of the objects (2). First dimensions may be parallel to the screens (31) and second dimensions may be perpendicular or parallel to the screens (31), or vice versa. Actions may comprise browsing groups (4-6) of elements (40-69) at position dependent speeds or browsing one or more groups (4-6) depending on the positions.

  • Patent number: 9403087
Abstract: A system and method for associating virtual spaces with physical analogs in the real world. Associating virtual spaces with physical analogs may enable various aspects of the virtual spaces, such as the content of the virtual spaces, the manner in which the virtual spaces are accessed by users, and/or other aspects of the virtual spaces, to correspond to the real world. For example, upon initiation of a client that provides a view of one or more virtual spaces to a user, the user may automatically be provided with a view of a virtual space associated with one or more physical analogs that are proximate to the user in the real world. As another example, content within the virtual space may reflect ambient conditions at or near associated physical analog(s), the presence and/or condition of objects at or near the associated physical analog(s), the location and/or condition of the physical analog(s), and/or other information related to the physical analog in the real world.

  • Patent number: 9390227
Abstract: Systems and methods are used to display data obtained from a qPCR instrument. Each of two or more samples is probed with a first labeling probe and a second labeling probe. A first data set is received from a qPCR instrument at a first cycle number that includes for each sample a first labeling probe intensity, and a second labeling probe intensity. A second data set is received at a second cycle number that includes for each sample a first labeling probe intensity and a second labeling probe intensity. A first plot of first labeling probe intensity as a function of second labeling probe intensity is created using the first data set. A second plot of first labeling probe intensity as a function of second labeling probe intensity is created using the second data set. The first plot and the second plot are displayed in response to user defined input to provide dynamic and real-time analysis of genotyping data.
