  • Patent number: 9892175
Abstract: A mechanism for providing a preview of a data set. The search system finds a data set relevant to the search query. For any given data set, the search system extracts only a sample of elements from the data set. The sample of elements provided to the requestor includes elements for which there is a match on the search query, and elements that have no hit, but are proximate to an element that has a hit. The user obtains a view constructed of the sample of elements provided by the search system. The user is also provided with navigation controls that correspond to the most search-relevant portions of the view. Controls associated with those portion(s) may then be selected to thereby move the preview of the data set so that the portion or corresponding hit for that portion is in view.

  • Patent number: 9886288
Abstract: Techniques for optimizing a guided edit process for editing a member profile page are described. According to various embodiments, incomplete member profile fields in a member profile associated with member of an online social networking service are identified. Profile completion score weight values associated with the incomplete member profile fields in the member profile are then determined. Thereafter, the incomplete member profile fields in the member profile are ranked, based on the profile completion score weight values associated with each of the incomplete member profile fields. A list of one or more of the highest ranked incomplete member profile fields are then displayed, together with a prompt recommending the member to complete the identified incomplete member profile fields.

  • Patent number: 9870133
Abstract: Exemplary methods, apparatuses, and systems receive user input to move, resize, or add a first user interface object to a first location in a user interface window. The user interface window includes a second user interface object in a second location. In response to the user input, constraints are generated based upon the first location and the second location. The constraints define a size or a position of the first user interface object relative to the second user interface object. The first user interface object is displayed within the user interface according to the determined constraints.

  • Patent number: 9823836
Abstract: Methods, computer systems, and computer storage media are provided for initiating clinical actions associated with a clinical object on a touch screen interface using incremental gestures. A clinical object is presented in an object row on the touch screen interface, and clinical actions associated with the clinical object are determined. A user gesture comprising an incremental gesture of the object row in a first direction is detected; the incremental gesture reveals an indicator associated with one of the clinical actions. The indicator is revealed after the incremental gesture has traveled a first distance. The action is initiated upon release of the incremental gesture.

  • Patent number: 9804743
Abstract: A device may be configured to provide a user interface that supports sequential selection of objects displayed on a screen. As configured, the device may display a presentation of multiple objects, and the device may receive a user input that defines a path within the presentation of displayed objects. The device may then determine the sequential order of a selected subset of the displayed objects. Based on this sequential order, the device may select, initiate, and perform an action that is targeted at the selected subset of the objects. In the context of an action game, the user may trace the path through various enemies, and the device may select and perform the action based on the number of enemies, the type of enemies, or the order in which the enemies were selected. Selection and initiation of the action may begin while the user input is still being received.

  • Patent number: 9792006
Abstract: User interface state (UI) information (such as UI control values) are stored and revived when the user navigates and returns to an application. When an instance of a page is created, the page registers with a tombstone list and indicates which page state information on the page is to be stored and revived when a user navigates away from the application. When the user provides an input indicating navigation away from the application, the application accesses the tombstone list and stores the UI page state information. UI page state information is stored in a page state dictionary data structure that corresponds to the current instance of the page. Then, when the user navigates back to the application, the application accesses the page state dictionary and restores the values of the UI page state information so that the user interface display is in the same state as when the user navigated away from the application.

  • Patent number: 9792021
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for transitioning an interface to a related image are provided. A method for transitioning an interface to a related image may include receiving information describing a homography between a first image and a second image, and adjusting the interface to present the second image at one or more transition intervals in a transition period until the second image is fully displayed and the first image is no longer visible. The interface may be adjusted by determining, based on the homography, a region of the second image to overlay onto a corresponding area of the first image, blending the determined region with the corresponding area to reduce visible seams occurring between the first image and the second image, and updating the interface by gradually decreasing visual intensity of the first image while gradually and proportionally increasing visual intensity of the second image.

  • Patent number: 9753909
Abstract: The technology disclosed relates to formulating and refining field extraction rules that are used at query time on raw data with a late-binding schema. The field extraction rules identify portions of the raw data, as well as their data types and hierarchical relationships. These extraction rules are executed against very large data sets not organized into relational structures that have not been processed by standard extraction or transformation methods. By using sample events, a focus on primary and secondary example events help formulate either a single extraction rule spanning multiple data formats, or multiple rules directed to distinct formats. Selection tools mark up the example events to indicate positive examples for the extraction rules, and to identify negative examples to avoid mistaken value selection. The extraction rules can be saved for query-time use, and can be incorporated into a data model for sets and subsets of event data.
