    Abstract: A method, network node and wireless device that use grants that restrict the set of LCHs that can be serviced using the grant are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method in a wireless device (WD) configured to communicate with a network node is provided. The method includes receiving from the network node, a first grant for uplink transmission of data, the first grant indicating that use of the first grant is restricted to logical channels (LCHs) of a first subset of LCHs of an LCH set, the first subset of LCHs configured to include fewer than all LCHs, such that there exists at least one LCH for which use of the first grant is not allowed. The method also includes selecting at least one LCH from the first subset of LCHs according to a priority of LCHs in the first subset of LCHs, the selected at least one LCH configured to provide data to be transmitted on the uplink according to the first grant.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for reducing network traffic in a mesh network by reducing the number of status messages communicated over the network. The nodes of the network can provide status information to a gateway based on each node's distance from the gateway. The closer nodes respond to the request from the gateway first and then the farther nodes respond to the request. When a node is ready to transmit a status message with status information to the gateway, the node sends the message to the nodes in communication with the transmitting node. One of the closer nodes that receives the message then forwards the message to additional nodes in communication with the forwarding node, while the other nodes that received the message do not forward the message. The process of forwarding messages by a single closer node is repeated until the status information is received by the gateway.

    Abstract: A system and method are presented that monitor components of an appliance for predicted, future failures. A sensor element is attached to the appliance to obtain movement and magnetic field data from the appliance. The sensor element can be attached to the metal shell of the appliance. A base sensor component receives data from the sensor element, and then divides individual signals into sub-frequencies. In one embodiment, 3-D signals relevant to position change, acceleration, and detected electromagnetic field at the sensor are all analyzed by the base sensor, along with a current draw signal for the appliance. Changes in the signals are reported to a server, that compares changes to a prepopulated database. This database correlates changes in sensor signals with predicted failures of appliance components. Identified components with a predicted, future failure are replaced before the failure.
