Abstract: The present invention provides rheology modifiers, which are water-soluble polymers having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of at least 1,000,000 g/mol and an intrinsic viscosity of at least 2.5 dl/g, both as determined by size exclusion chromatography, and wherein the water-soluble polymers are in the form of solid particles. It also provides mixtures of rheology modifiers comprising a first rheology modifier, which is a water-soluble polymer having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of at least 1,000,000 g/mol and an intrinsic viscosity of at least 2.5 dl/g, both as determined by size exclusion chromatography, and a second rheology modifier, which has a weight average molecular weight of from 2,000 g/mol to 800,000 g/mol. It also provides coating composition containing the rheology modifiers, respectively, mixtures of rheology modifiers, a process for their preparation, a process for coating a substrate using these coating compositions and substrates coated with these coating compositions.
Abstract: Disclosed is a catalyst for the polymerization of olefins comprising thienyl-substituted silanes, which comprises a solid titanium catalyst component containing titanium, magnesium and a halogen as the main components, an alkylaluminum compound, and a component of organosiloxane compound comprising two thienyl as substituents represented by general formula (I). The molar ratio of each catalyst component is 1:50-150:5-50 based on titanium:aluminum:silicon. When the catalyst is used in the polymerization of propylene, the polymerisate obtained has a very high degree of isotacticity, and the yield is high.
Abstract: A catalyst component for olefin polymerization comprising an ?-cyanosuccinate compound as an internal electron donor, a catalyst comprising the catalyst component, and use of the catalyst in olefin polymerization. When used in propylene polymerization, the catalyst can exhibit good catalytic activity and good hydrogen response, and the resulting polymer can have a good isotacticity and a good molecular weight distribution.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is, in a thermoplastic elastomer composition in which a modified rubber is dispersed and filled in an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer matrix in order to improve the low-temperature durability of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, to reduce the extrusion load during extrusion molding thereof into a film without deteriorating the low-temperature durability. The present invention is a thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) and a modified rubber (B) dispersed in the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A), wherein the modified rubber (B) has an acid anhydride group or epoxy group and is dynamically cross-linked by a compound (C) having at least two amino groups. This thermoplastic elastomer composition can be suitably used in the production of an inner liner of a pneumatic tire.

Abstract: Microstructured films such as brightness enhancing films, polymerizable resin compositions comprising an organic component and surface modified nanoparticles, and surface modified nanoparticles are described. The microstructured film has a polymerized structure comprising the reaction product of the polymerizable resin composition (e.g. having a refractive index of at least 1.58). The cured nanocomposite (e.g. structure) can exhibit improved crack resistance. In some embodiments, the flexibility is expressed in terms of a cylindrical mandrel bend test property (e.g. a mandrel size to failure of less than 6 mm or a mandrel size to failure according to the equation D=1000(T/0.025?T) wherein T is the thickness in millimeters of a (e.g. preformed base layer). In other embodiments, the flexibility is expressed in terms of a tensile and elongation property (e.g. a tensile strength at break of at least 25 MPa and an elongation at break of at least 1.75%).
