Patent number: 6910402Abstract: Methods and apparatus for spinning a pipe using a flexible belt. The spinner utilizes a single actuation mechanism contained within a rigid body to engage the pipe and tension the belt. The pipe is engaged by one or more pivoting arms that are locked into place by pins attached to the actuation mechanism interfacing with slots in the pivoting arm and spinner body. Once the arms are locked in place, the belt is tensioned and can be driven to rotate the pipe. The single actuation mechanism is preferably embodied by a linear actuator connected between a pivoting arm and a moveable motor. The pivoting arm is spring biased so that the arm pivots before the motor is moved. The spinner may use two pivoting arms, or one pivoting arm and one stationary arm.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2003Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: National-Oilwell, L. Patent number: 6904833Abstract: An asymmetrical wrench and fastener system comprising radially extending splines having opposing surfaces whose inner ends are inclined by different amounts with respect to a radius intersecting the respective inner ends to alter the torque between the tightening and loosening directions. This configuration makes it either easier or harder to loosen the fastener than it was to tighten it, depending on the amount the opposing surfaces of the splines are inclined.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2003Date of Patent: June 14, 2005Assignee: Wright Tool CompanyInventor: Richard B. Patent number: 6898998Abstract: The invention relates to a T-handle ratchet wrench including a lateral bar and a ratchet set. The lateral bar has a hollow connection part located in the center of the lateral bar and used for installing the ratchet set. Two flanks of the lateral bar make up a handgrip, respectively. The top of ratchet set is provided with a rotation button while a vertical bar extends downwardly from the rotation button. At least one of the handgrips includes a pivotal ear with a through hole, and the pivotal ear can be fitted into an insertion slot with a through hole at the free end of the lateral bar. A pivotal pin then passes through the through hole in the pivotal ear and the through hole in the insertion slot. This permits a pivotal movement of the handgrip on the pivotal pin. Accordingly, this configuration will considerably minimize the occupied space in packing, transport, storage and carrying. Particularly, the operators can more easily apply his force on the driver under special operation environments.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2003Date of Patent: May 31, 2005Inventor: Wen-Tsai Shyu

Patent number: 6862965Abstract: A tool to replace motorcycle brake pads is used for back seating disc brake pistons into their bores to make room for replacement of old brake pads with new brake pads. The tool comprises a pair of curved elongated substantially flat members wedged at one end that mount onto either side of wheel assembly discs. Once mounted and secured upon the discs, the wheel assembly is rotated in a counter-clockwise direction, causing the wedged ends to slide in between the disc brake pistons and the wheel assembly disc. This forcing the seating of disc brake pistons into their bores when the plateaued section of the tool is forced between the seating disc brake pistons and the wheel assembly disc, thus making room for the installation of new brake pads.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2003Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Inventor: William Arias
