Abstract: An apparatus for masking text in a rendered copy of an original document includes a text modification system which is configured to receive a print job from an application and modify the print job in accordance with a print job description, whereby when rendered on an output device, a selected text element is masked. A user interface is configured to receive instructions from a user to build the print job description including instructions for selecting text elements to be masked.

Abstract: In a print system for causing a printer to print an image on the basis of image data supplied from a portable communication apparatus by direct communication between the portable communication apparatus and the printer, the print function of the printer is obtained. When print conditions input by using the UI of the portable communication apparatus cannot be implemented by the print function of the printer, the portable communication apparatus requests a server to execute corresponding processing. A result processed by the server is received, and the printer is caused to print the image.

Abstract: An automated ticketing and boarding (ATB) device may replace both legacy boarding pass printers and gate readers, without reconfiguring existing departure control systems (DCSs). The replacement ATB device may create a virtual magnetic stripe in memory from the formatted flight and/or passenger information received from the DCS, and may extract portions of the virtual magnetic stripe to form a boarding pass with an optical machine-readable symbol instead of a magnetic stripe transparently to the DCS.

Abstract: In response to a print request from a host computer, a port for receiving print data is assigned to the host computer, the host computer is notified of a URI representing the port that serves as a destination of print data, and the port is associated with the URI in a port-status management table. When a connection for sending print data from a host computer is established, the port-status management table is referred to. If the host computer is associated with the port of the connection, printing is executed. After receiving print data, the port is closed, and the port-status management table is updated to cancel the assignment of the port to the host computer.

Abstract: A internet based method and apparatus is described for automatically processing a captured digital image taken by a smart device at a fixed-location, mobile or virtual event, and synchronizing the combination of that captured primary image with a secondary image, be it a picture frame, or a watermark to create a combined media image. If desired, the combined image may also contain an audio file. Once combined, the image may be stored for later viewing, and/or automatically returned to the user of the smart device or the PC of the user who captured the primary image, forwarded to an online print service website, posted to a photo sharing website, and/or forwarded to a distribution list. The automated post processing of said captured images is handled by a process engine hosted at an Application Provider's website, the process engine containing instructions for the media combining and metadata tagging of said images.

Abstract: A data processing apparatus having a device driver part for controlling a device includes a storing part configured to store device capability data, a receiving part configured to receive a designation of a PrintTicket having setting data indicating control settings used for controlling the device, a determining part configured to determine whether the designated PrintTicket has been fabricated by the device driver part or another device driver part, a first controlling part configured to apply all of the setting data to the control settings in a case where the designated PrintTicket is determined to be fabricated by the device driver part, and a second controlling part configured to compare the device capability data with the setting data and apply at least a part of the setting data to the control settings in a case where the designated PrintTicket is determined to be fabricated by the other device driver part.

The method, for example, can—in certain embodiments—include transforming printer data into an extensible markup language (XML). The method can also include encapsulating the transformed printer data. The method can further include transmitting the encapsulated printer data. The transforming the printer data and the encapsulating the printer data can be designed so as to maintain security, reliability, and privacy of the printer data. The method can also, in some embodiments, include capturing complete printer data by reading the encapsulated printer data. The method can further include scanning a network to obtain the printer data, before transforming the printer data into the XML. The scanning can include at least one of the following scans: a simple network management protocol scan, a non shared desktop printers scan, or a jet direct scan.

A first print job formed by a first application program is input through an operating system and a printer driver processes the input first print job. A second application program which forms a second print job different from the first print job and sends to the operating system is provided. The printer driver starts the second application program, transfers settings of the printer driver to the second application program, receives the second print job formed by the second application program through the operating system, processes the second print job, and allows a printer to print the second print job.

Abstract: Job tickets containing scoped instructions can control the processing of a PDL file to produce a data stream that is efficiently processed by a rendering device such as a raster image processor or printer. Job tickets contain instructions for processing a PDL file. Scoped instructions control processing of only those PDL file sections within a certain scope as specified on a per instruction basis.

Abstract: A system and method for reducing the noise induced in a particular section or level of a signal bandwidth. The section is isolated from the rest of the signal data, by rescaling this data to produce a buffer section adjacent the section with little or no data in it. The signal is then transmitted to the output device where all data is the buffer section is considered to be the result of noise, and is mapped back to the predetermined level. The signal data is inversely rescaled to move data back into the buffer section. In this way, more of the data that was input at the predetermined level, will also be at the predetermined level afterwards, thereby correcting noise induced in that level by noise inducing transmission techniques such as JPEG compression.

Abstract: In an image forming system, an information processing apparatus (host computer) outputs print data to a printer connected to the apparatus through an interface. The apparatus includes an interface identifying module for identifying the type of the interface, a query module for determining, based on the identified interface type, a quantization method for quantizing print data and/or a compression method, and an image processing module for performing quantization and/or compression on the print data by the determined quantization method and/or compression method. The apparatus outputs, to the printer, the print data processed by the image processing module.
